Who doesn't love frozen yogurt? Do I even have to ask this question? This is my preferred location - close to where I live and often it's easy to get in and get out without too much hassle. I love to get the chocolate and vanilla swirl. They also have many other yogurt flavors. And you can sample them before buying. The inside is rather small. Just the counter and a couple of tables and chairs, but if you wanted to eat your sweet treat here, you could comfortably do so. Workers are never snarky and make sure you leave satisfied. Yes, the yogurt can be pricey, but it's so delicious. And I don't come here every day, usually a couple times a month at most. read more

I've been coming to Jon &Bon's since the 90's. I've taken my kids, family and friends here for years, as it's a Chico staple. My husband and I went to the downtown location and were extremely disappointed. Jon &Bon was always known for their generous servings of both yogurt and toppings. When we got our yogurt the cups were only filled 3/4 of the way. We got our topping on the side (as always) and the cup was 1/2 empty. We live downtown and it takes less than 3 minutes to drive home. By the time we were in our driveway my yogurt was soup. I understand we are ALL suffering with inflation and businesses need to make money, but paying full price for something and having 1/4 of the product withheld is robbery. If you need to keep up with rising costs, raise the price of your product and let the customer decide if they want to pay for it. To raise prices AND give much smaller portions is dishonest. Paying $23 for runny yogurt in 3/4 filled cups has unfortunately left a bad taste in our mouths. read more

This is some of the best frozen yogurt I have ever had. The mountain berry with yogurt chips and blackberries is to die for. The vanilla with honey oats and peanut butter cups is way too good as well. They have so many options for toppings, there really is something for everyone! Staff was nice, but you could tell she was a little overwhelmed with the line of people. I think she would have benefited from having 1 other person working with her! I went here on July 4th, in between shifts. It was a huge heat wave and I was so happy that I could get a quick healthy frozen yogurt ( although I did have some cookie dough chunks). Waited so long in line while worker sealed with phone line with a full line going out the door just for us to get to the front of the line. Order a shaved ice for the machine to start working then stop due to workers inexperience of working with the machine. Didn't attempt to solve the problem but to simple say sorry it's not working and give us no type of compensation of understanding as i'm lactose and and only do the shaved ice. read more

I'm really disappointed with the Jon & Bon's experience since the recent ownership change. I usually go to the Mangrove location, but sometimes visit the Broadway location as well. Lately, not even half of the frozen yogurt machines are running, meaning there are 3-4 flavors at most, sometimes less at Broadway. Topping are routinely out of stock for extended periods of time. The website is never updated, so you can't check flavors in advance... they should just remove that feature altogether if they're not going to keep it up to date. And lastly, they switched their white styrofoam cups to cardboard paper cups - at least at Mangrove. The frozen yogurt melts much more quickly, and getting yogurt to-go is not really an option anymore since it will be soup by the time you get home. Oh, and on top of all of that, the new owners have upped the prices and gotten rid of the beloved "special" size which was petite & came with a free half-topping. He was going so fast, not listening and rolled his eyes when we corrected the icecream flavor after he misheard. My family and I have been loyal Jon and bon's customers we where there every night. Since the new owners have tried fixing something that never needed to be fixed we have stopped going. The "special" size that was perfect is now gone for a smaller size that cost more and doesn't come with a free half topping. My family and I are no longer able to enjoy our yogurt at home because it turns to a soup since they changed their cups to paper. Tonight we were treated so rudely by the curly/dark haired girl helping us with our $30 YOGURT ORDER that I'm here giving a two star review. After making us feel as though we were bitterly inconveniencing her by coming in at 8pm to order yogurt & toppings to-go, she literally said to my 74 year old father (who moves slowly as he walks with a cane) "CAN YOU GET OUT OF THE WAY so I can ring her (pointing to the next person in line) up?" So Rude! Made me want to snatch the TIP HE JUST GAVE HER out of the jar. I didn't...he and Jesus would have been horrified and I don't like to let either of them down. Look, I am not expecting it to look like Restaurant: Impossible swooped in and made everything awesome, but the place was drab and needed a wipedown... actually a coat of paint would help too. All of the tables were dirty and the place was empty. So instead of zoning out behind the counter, people need to take a little pride in where they work and maintain it to some standard. Okay, yes, Jon & Bon's overpriced, but is it never not good? No. It's delicious every time and I am never sad when I finish eating my yogurt. I love that they have late night hours and that I can flavor-hop to one of their three locations. My favorites are peppermint stick, egg nog, pumpkin pie, and banana custard, and when all else fails, chocolate overload will always be waiting for you. Their peanut butter granola topping is life-changing, and if you're a weirdo who goes to a yogurt place to get shave ice, you can do that, too! I was born and raised in Chico and have never known a Summer without Jon and Bons. I love all of their locations, the downtown one is the best, but that is because I just love the Phoenix building. Back to this location... I actually like the long lines, people getting froyo are happy, I don't mind spending a few minutes with happy people. My husband and I have been going here for years and years. Loyal customers. But the last few times we've been to the Mangrove location the service has been...odd. I went in with my kids and mother-in-law. There was a younger man working behind the counter. And two other workers in the corner chatting about "Something, something sluts." My son said he wanted on scoop and since we were driving I asked if we could have that in a cup. He said if we got one scoop we could only get it in a cone. He seemed very put-out to be helping us. He rolled his eyes and let out long sighs with his arms crossed (there was nobody else in line and we were there in the middle of the day, so not before closing). I said if it was a price difference for a cup, I didn't mind paying it. He said it wouldn't be possible at all, no exceptions to put it into a cup. And I was so confused, but I don't want to get anyone into trouble so I went with it. Okay, sure, we can take it on a cone. Then for my MILs order and mine he got really fussy. I asked if I could have whatever size would work for putting a lid on it, because I'd be transporting it home. And he got really angry at my request and said people get mad at them when they put lids on because they want the ice cream piled high. I said I didn't mind at all about losing ice cream from the top. I just needed a lid and a larger size so I could eat it over several days and transport it. He said he didn't feel comfortable with our request and stomped over to the machine to fill it. I didn't know if he was going to give us a lid or not and he'd been so emotionally charged we were afraid to say or ask anything more. Look, I bet people have treated them terrible. I've been in service work and people can be very weird and take out their bad day on you. But one thing I learned was to not turn around and do the same. Especially if someone is trying hard to be nice and make it work and willing to bend over backwards to do it in a way to make it right. It made me really sad as this was the maybe dozenth time in a row we've been treated as if us being there buying ice cream was a burden. We always leave a tip. Even this time my MIL put a tip in the jar and out in the car said "Might be time to find a new favorite ice cream place." And I had to sadly agree, so after 20 years of this being our go-to place my husband and I must vote our dollars to go elsewhere. And after we made this announcement to friends, found out others have had the same terrible customer service experience we've had. So we all vowed to break up with Jon and Bons. There is only so much emotional abuse you can take in the name of loyalty. We've been trying other places we've not tried before.
