Quality is everything! Experience is obvious and cleanliness was amazing Originally we had some grandiose envision for our Hardscape, we were pouring thru the latest Home Living magazines and getting feedback on how to proceed. We had 3 contractors stop by with grand scale drawings on rock slides, new brick pool surrounds, chevron pattern bricks the whole 9 yards, (none of which we wanted or asked for) Gary stopped by as the 4th Contractor to bid the job and immediately made it obvious we didn't need much to improve on our current layout. In my opinion, this was great, he suggested little tweaks that would bring life, feel and comfort to our backyard. What a fantastic experience! Gary and his crew couldn't have been better, more accommodating and eager to do a superior job. We had a horrible weed infested side yard that we were desperate to fix up and make clean and neat. We met with Gary a few times before starting the project and he did everything that he promised he would - AND MORE. They removed all the old stepping stones and weeds, graded the area, fixed an impacted drain line, installed cement poured pavers with a custom finish and installed Tiger Turf and left us two cut-outs for plants. See the pictures! Above and beyond doing this for us he also took the time to assist me in replacing two of my new Azek deck steps at the front of my house. The company who built the deck wanted $300 to replace two boards and when Gary heard this he was incredulous. He went to Ganahl Lumber and got the specific items we needed to fix the steps and had one of his workers replace them for us at no charge. I wish I would have hired him to build the deck too as his pricing is much more reasonable than anyone else that I have obtained a quote from. Gary also will be helping us pick the appropriate plants for some pots and to put in the two planters down the side yard. I recommend Gary and Hartscape to anyone who needs quality landscaping/hardscaping/decking etc. He will treat you well and you will be so happy with the results!! Almost forgot! He also re-stuccoed our front wall with a smooth stucco after fixing so many areas that the previous contractor did not execute correctly. We had a landscape that came with the original house which was built in 1965. The grass was so thick with roots, it was like walking on concrete. When the water district had a rebate program, we decided it was time to pull up the grass and put in something that used less water. I was referred to Gary and Hartscape by some neighbors. He and his team went out of their way to help us get rid of the ugly old St. Augustine and put in something that looked better with our mid-century modern house. We couldn't be happier with his work. He was straight forward and concerned about my needs and listened to my needs and came up with solutions to my problems. We met Gary at a home show in Anaheim and were very interested in working with him on a front and backyard landscape remodel. We live on a 10,000 sq ft lot and needed a lot of work. We also hired a landscape architect who provided us both ideas and drawings. We put in a brand new pool and concrete/hardscape. We wanted to meet with Gary to plan irrigation/grass/trees/plants - all the green stuff. Scheduling an appointment with Gary through Sheila was a nightmare. We contacted Gary on August 10. We didn't hear anything so I re-sent the email on August 18. Gary responded that he didn't receive the first email. No problem. On August 23, Sheila said that Gary may be able to stop by and she would confirm later that day. He couldn't make this appointment because he was setting up for a show. Sheila provided two other dates the following week, but we were unavailable. We were finally given a date and time and I confirmed with our address and phone number via email. We waited and waited and Gary didn't show up. That evening, I sent Sheila an email that no one showed up and the next day, she replied that she never received a confirmation from me. I forwarded the email again with the confirmation. We have already contacted other landscape contractors and have appointments set up to meet them. It took one phone call. Overall, it's been a waste of time and exhausting and I'm not going to risk such an important project on a contractor that can't even give us an initial appointment. read more

I wanted to sod my back yard . I saw these guys working on a neighbors home and was really impressed with the result. I left my name with the neighbor and got a call from Gary within the week. I explained I was on a budget. After looking at my yard, Gary said he didn't think it was necessary to go with sod and that I could save money simply treating the soil and reseeding it. I asked to level the low areas so we needed to bring in some soil. We set a date. He said it would take two days. Gary and his crew were in and out as planned. Everything was cleaned up. My back yard turned out the way I wanted it. Within 30 days I had a nice back yard full of green grass for about 1/2 the price I had expected to pay for sod. He first referred us to a great landscape designer that was reasonably priced and talented. He listened to what we wanted and created a space that combined our ideas with his experience.
