I can't really say it's a 'hidden gem' because it's notoriously mentioned in many circles as the "have you ever been to THIS place??" place, but people usually answer YES, with wide eyes and a few memorable dish notes. We went for a mid-week date night, and there was a constant flow of seemingly satisfied diners. The ambiance was warm and cozy, not too dimly lit but very deliberately paced with the huge portions they offer; the service was top-notch, friendly and knowledgeable, always checking back at the right times and knowing what we would need as guests. We ordered several of their suggestions with no reservations, and they delivered. My fiance still talks about that apple cider margarita and it's firmly on the list of not-too-hard-to-make restaurant favorites we roll out for our guests at home. The stuffed mushrooms had a ton of crab meat and far less breading than most, without being saturated or too heavy to start the meal. The salads are certainly slept on; neatly arranged but never the star when pitted up against their hearty steak or cajun offerings, their house salads are hard to beat, unless you're paying up for a meal-type salad. As good as those two items were, the scallops I had with their cracker-encrusted light breading were the epitome of simple, sauteed, buttery-by-nature seafood; they were the best version of scallops like that I've ever had. And the dessert...just perfect for so many reasons; crispy and gooey caramelized bananas, a good amount of vanilla ice cream and the best cinnamony syrup sauce that I couldn't stop lapping up. I would have used a different blend of cheeses to make it creamier and less oily. My guess is they used Asiago. Not bad but not as great as I was expecting. My wife had the red beet salad. Shockingly a $20 salad with canned beets on it. Mediocre at best but the canned beets ruined it. If your getting a salad that features a specific vegetable wouldn't you want that vegetable to be the best highlight of the salad? That was the good part. The service I can't even explain. I'm not sure what happened because if it were like this everyday they'd be closed. We walked in downstairs and was told to sit wherever we wanted and then we were forgotten about. The bartender finally came over after my wife was looking her way for 20 minutes. Bartender apologized for forgetting about us. No waitresses anywhere. The AC I think was off because it was cooler outside on a warm muggy PA night than it was inside. The bar was about 3/4 full and there was one table seated and we noticed about 3/4 of the outdoor seating was occupied as well. Not super busy at all. We waited about 20 minutes before we were approached. We ordered water until we could got our menus and reviewed them. Water never came. Someone else came over and asked us about ordering drinks. We ordered drinks and asked about our water. Water never came. Drinks came. Then yet a different person came over a few minutes later to take our food order. We ordered water again since we were planning on drinking more. My wife's appetizer came out, meatballs. Pretty good, similar but somewhat different flavor than my Italian mothers recipe. When the app came out that person finally got us silverware, napkins and our water. Food came a little later. That's described above. During dinner we had to get up to get refills on water and were never offered additional drinks or anything. We finally stopped someone and asked for our check. My wife had to go to the bar to pay the bill. No one ever came back to the table. At one point earlier we were asked who our waitress was and we all looked at each other because 4 or maybe 5 people were at our table at some point but it was like we still couldn't get stuff we needed. My wife paid with a card she had forgotten to activate and it declined. The bartender gave her the slip and the card and never noticed or told her. She realized it at the table. We had to go back to the bar and pay again because after cleaning that one table everyone except the bartender would vanish. Finally we paid, sweating our asses off in a corner table with the most bassy sound system pounding for 2 hours we got out of there and went to a local bar for drinks. I would have loved to have enjoyed this place and loved to have had more drinks because their bar was the highlight of the experience but it was clear they didn't care about us at all. And we were sweating to death.

The dish comes with shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat. The best thing on the plate was the THREE scallops they provided. The crab was genuinely the worst, driest crab I've ever had. Worse than low-quality frozen snow crab at Red Lobster or the grocery store. The shrimp was overcooked and pathetically seasoned with a light sprinkle of paprika (which fell mostly on one shrimp and none of the others). I had to salt my own food at the table because everything was flavorless. All in all, if you're in Scranton because you like The Office, stop here and have some CHEAP starters and drinks, grab some cool Dunder Mifflin merchandise at the gift shop, and enjoy all the awesome art they have at Coopers. Pay no mind to their expensive seafood, it sucks. Service: the waitstaff are lovely, friendly and attentive. They're great and deserve praise!
