They did such a crappy job on our balconies. Our property management company Celtic (who are no better than them) recommended these people. When I tell you the left areas undone and did not think that the irregularities of the staining would be seen. As soon as the sun when down - if you walked up on it you can tell the spottyness of how it was stained, areas that were not touched and blamed the wood and not the workmanship. I would not recommend them for anything. We went back and forth for some time until we just asked for a discount to get it over and done with after the shotty touch up they so called did. I don't normally leave reviews, but I feel I need to. In December, we had our house painted. After they left, we noticed paint left on 2 ceilings which they did fix. Within 2 weeks, we started to see marks and spots on our walls in different areas along with paint drips and damage to our trim that was not fixed. With having these issues, we also found out that the paint grade used was lower than expected. Contractors paint was put in our house when we had asked for a durable, washable option. We hired them as professionals to write a contract with the specifications discussed with the salesperson (which we signed). Instead, they wrote in contract a lesser quality contractor paint. We were not given an option. We feel that we were taken advantage of by not knowing the things they know within their profession. They did not tell us the different paint options or give us a choice. They just chose the paint quality for us. Even after talking with the sales person, project manager, paint representative, and owner they only addressed the marks on ceilings and some of trim issues. Very disappointed. Now we are out the money and have to hire another company to come in and repaint our whole house again and paint all of our trim too. read more

Jondec did a great job on our painting project. We had our living room, dining room, kitchen and two stairways painted plus the ceilings. Geraldo and his crew were amazing. The entire project only took two days and it included taking down a border in the kitchen that I tried desperately to remove on my own. In addition, Geraldo saw that our cabinets that had been painted a week before were not up to his standards - we discussed the cabinets the first morning of the job. After I filed a complaint Geraldo touched up the cabinets and they looked great! He definitely went above and beyond and took great pride in his (and his crew's) work Bryan, Sales Representative and Laura, Project Manager went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the pricing and the timing of the project. I would give this company more stars if they only had better customer service. Angel and his crew did an excellent job of painting and their clean up was great! However for the premium price you pay for Jondec you expect the "whole package." They canceled my paint job by email at the end of one business day before my project was to start. I understand that things can happen, and a simple phone call rather than an email would have made all the difference. By the time I called in response to the email, no one was in the office. When I did get in touch with Laura on the day the painters were supposed to arrive at 7:30am all she did was make excuses and argue with me. Laura needs a serious lesson in customer service - she would never work for me. For that reason, I would not use Jondec again and I could not recommend them. Too bad poor customer service has to spoil an otherwise good service company. read more

Make sure you get the 'A' crew! We found the owner professional & knowledgeable with good references so we felt comfortable hiring his company for a full interior house paint job. The crew that arrived was polite and had a leader but the owner was not there at all. As the job progressed than the problems started to pop up. For the 3 days they were in our home we both were working and every day I came home to find something that had happened but since the crew was already gone, no one pointed any of these things out to me but they were obvious. First an antique piece of furniture was damaged when one of the crew put a paint can on it so it they had to have it refinished. Next they damaged a piece of our counter top when pulling out the refrigerator. The biggest damage was to our expensive hardwood floors in the kitchen area when the crew pulled our side by side refrigerator out without putting anything underneath it. They pulled it out right on top of the hardwood floors causing gouges in it! The flooring company who originally put our beautiful floors in were called to come out to replace or repair the sections damaged, but the finish/color had changed since the floors were installed 5 years before and it would not have matched. Jondec agreed to pay to have our floors sanded and refinished but no one told us that would change the flooring so it would be more susceptible to scratching. Until this time our flooring had no visible scratches, we even had a cleaning woman who did the floors on her hands and knees, had always loved our flooring and couldn't believe the difference after they were refinished. The wood scratched easily even without shoes on! The manufacturer of the wood flooring told me that the hard finish is created with the process they do at the factory, once the floors are sanded and refinished, they will never have the same quality finish. Wish I had known this and I would have done more research on what to do with the damage Jondec's crew caused. As for the painting job, overall it was ok but there were even minor issues like paint on light fixtures, area sanded differently so the paint had a different look, etc. but all the major issues came from their carelessness and lack of respect for our home. read more

I hired Jondec to paint my living room and dining room. The owner of the company came out rapidly to give me an estimate, and I was pleased with that. The price was reasonable, and then I saw the work! The job is perfect! The original color is hard to cover, but they did so. It looks beautiful. I was hoping that they would not leave any mess after they were done, and my hopes were more than realized! They cleaned up and left the place in a better condition than when the work started! Jondec by far was our highest quote. We decided to go with them anyway because we were looking for someone to come in, do the job and do it right. It was anything but! We hired them to paint the inside of our house including a newly remodeled bathroom, which included a window. They did not take the window out and painted the tracks! Thank goodness my husband was home and was able to get the window out before the tracks totally dried! During the quote walk through Bill just made everything sound like it would be a smooth process, they'll fill holes, sand, prime, wiped down walls ect. Our crew of two did a terrible of job of doing any of the above. We have ridges that should have been sanded out in the bathroom. They did not wipe down the walls at all! We have dust and chunks embedded into the paint now! They were also hired to stain and polyurethane a door to match the others in the house. The staining of the door was fine however instead of brushing on the polyurethane they used some sort of spray. It hardly coated the door at all and it doesn't match the rest of the doors in house, so one more thing we'll have to do over. And in the spraying process they did not cover the cabinets or counter and got spray on them! Took an afternoon to scrub that off and i can still feel it on the cabinets. I had to point out issue after issue and finally after 3 days I just wanted them out of my house! Bryan (nice guy) did come by after and tried to fix up some of their mess however the entire house would've and should've been redone to get it right. My husband and I ended up re-tapping and touching up things ourselves after the hefty price we paid! They also chipped and scratched a mirror however we did get reimbursed for a new one. Their invoice states "The best experience you'll ever have" after 22 years of owning a house this has been the WORSE experience I've ever had! I hate to write such negative reviews but the price they charge was nowhere reflected in the job they did. read more

We recently had our deck stained by Jondec Painting, and were very unhappy with the results. We asked Bill Wallace for the SAME stain that was presently on the deck, but were unknowingly handed a color chart for a different type of stain and were told to select a color. We picked the closest color that we could find, but when the deck was stained, the color on the deck and on the chip were two very different colors and neither were anything like what we originally asked for as appears on the quote. In the estimate under terms and conditions, they said they would protect all necessary areas with drop cloths, and sand and prime all areas of bare wood. The cement area under our deck is littered with paint droppings. The fence, which was bare wood, was neither sanded nor primed. The estimate also included staining the underside posts and beam. The estimate also listed that they would hammer down any loose nail heads, but did not touch any of them on the fence or deck. They stained two sides of two posts and three sides of one post, and stained all four sides on one post. The beam is painted on one side and partially painted on the other side. Yes they left it with two colors (old and new). The hinges and metal hardware are covered with stain, the result of very poor workmanship. There are also numerous globs of paint on the deck and between the separations of the fence planks. There are numerous chips in the stain, after only two months. And yes it even states that the paint inhibits the growth of mold and mildew and we now have mold for the first time in twelve years. After numerous attempts to resolve these issues, they took no responsibility for their poor workmanship. We were told that the work was up to Jondec standards and that there was no warranty on their work. Bryan Stevens did offer us $500 and to get rid of the globs on the deck only. We then informed them that we would tell our story on as many sites as we could, so that no one else would ever need to go through all of this. He again offered us the $500, if we DID NOT write any reviews. And yes, Bryan was incorrect, there is a two year warranty as stated in our paperwork, but it seems that they are not planning on honoring it. As he stated, "things happen". We declined his offer as we feel that it is our responsibility to inform the public about our experience with Jondec. This is the first negative review that we have ever written and hope that we never need to do this again. We would NEVER use them again, nor would we recommend them to others. They DO NOT adhere to the terms and conditions set forth in their written estimate. read more

Working with Jondec Painting was flawless from the beginning to the end. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them. They offer free estimates that are very detailed and straight forward. There are no surprises in cost or hidden fees and paint is included in the quote. Also, you can meet with a decorator who will help you select paint colors (which I did and I am thrilled with the outcome.) The day of the project, the crew came promptly, were extremely friendly and did a perfect professional job. They wrapped/covered all of the furniture and put down tarps. They filled little holes in the walls and put on several layers of paint. The crew of three men finished my living room, kitchen and foyer in about 6 hours without cutting any corners. We have a 3200 square foot house in Palos and these guys came out and gave us a $15K - $16K estimate to paint the entire house - more than twice as much as the next highest estimate that we received. We didn't receive the other estimates from guys off the street but reputable companies that have been in business for quite some time. That's just ridiculous, and I don't see how people pay these prices, but there are suckers everywhere I guess. Everyone is entitled to make a living, but it shouldn't cost $15K to have four guys paint a 3,200 square foot house for five days. I'm angry because they wasted 45 minutes of our time to perform their estimate. The other reviews stated how nice the painters are - give me $15K to paint your house for a week, and I will stock your fridge, walk your dog and pick up the kids from school. Seriously people - let's get sanity back in this world and laugh these people out of your house when they give estimates like this. read more

I had them out to paint pretty much the entire inside of my house. They came on Monday before Thanksgiving and I was told they would be done in two days. I walked in the day before Thanksgiving to my house after work to find it completely taken apart still. Apparently they ran out of the paint they needed and decided to call it a day. My Thanksgiving Day holiday was ruined. They did not come back until the Monday after Thanksgiving to work so I lived in a mess for four days. The quality of the paint is embarrassing. Everyday I find more and more missed spots and poor workmanship. I didn't mind paying the $$$ they charge because I had heard they were good. From start to finish it was an excellent experience. John (the owner) showed up to do the initial quote. He was available quickly, and arrived on-time. My first impression was that he looked professional and was generally a really nice guy. It was clear he had a deep understanding of paints, stains, and how to apply them, including the prep work necessary to make sure the application will last. I'm not a very handy guy, so I always feel a little helpless when I need any kind of work on my house done. However, based on John's demeanor and expertise I felt as though I could trust him to do a good job. He took some measurements, and said he'd email me a quote. I received the quote within a day, and we agreed on a price. He said the field supervisor, Matt, would be in touch to discuss scheduling. Matt was in touch within a few days as promised, and was also a very nice, knowledgeable person. He brought some paint so we could try to match my existing paint. I didn't think it was a great match, and asked that we try a few more. Within a day there were 2 more paints for me to choose from - one being a great match. They first scheduled the power washing, then the deck staining, and finally the trim paint. They also installed a piece of trim for me that my builder somehow left off. From the time they began the power washing to the time all of the work was complete was about 10 days, each step taking not more than 1-2 days. They also had to work around some not-great weather. I'm extremely happy with the finished product. My deck feels like new, and the house looks great. They showed up when they said they would, they always responded quickly to all of my emails, and they were nice guys to top it off. I will definitely use Jondec again. read more

They've stained our kitchen cabinets rather than replacing them, painted our high, angled ceilings, painted our family room, dining room, a bedroom, and two bathrooms. We had Jondec Painters come to our house 2 times to give us a quote on painting our interior. After we received it, he followed up several times. Which we thought was a good salesman. Then I received an email stating that if we hired them between 2 certain dates the company would reduce the price by 25%! It struck us funny because it seemed as if they had quoted us 25% more. That wasn't so bad but a second email days later said that the same thing. A couple of days later the salesman called on the phone asking if we had made up our minds. I mentioned the emails. I used Jondec Painting this past October to paint my newly purchased home. I had gotten 6 estimates prior to choosing Jondec for the job. To be honest they were the highest of all the estimates. My wife and I "hemmed and hawed" over the decision for a few days but finally we went with our gut feeling and chose the company that we felt the most comfortable with...and that was Jondec. Right off the bat we enjoyed the fact that they are a legit company with a proven history (check kudzu.com for recommendations). This wasn't a "side job" for them. They were professionals and covered topics none of the companies did. The first two days were simply spent patching, tapering, and taping my walls. They told me that the paint was only going to look as good as the walls it is on so they took such extra time in the "prep work" to ensure that the walls were flat. They covered my floors to protect them. I have to say that the best part of the job was that they gave us a two hour design consultation with an interior decorator which was a huge help in creating color schemes. I can honestly say that I don't think the job would have came out nearly as well had we gone with one of the other companies.
