I love The Oak House. Ya know how your parents always have that one restaurant they frequent more than any other, that's The Oak House for me. The food is so consistently good, the atmosphere and staff are so fun and friendly. They are so consistently good at providing vegan and vegetarian options (something that all other restaurants make out to be a real hardship even in 2025). They are so inclusive and welcoming at all times. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is because they don't have an AC system. In the summer, I'd love to frequent them more often, but it's just too hot. I would prefer to order takeout and eat it in my home with A/C than go in and sweat while trying to enjoy a nice meal. It's unfortunate too cause I think they have such great summer-foods like wraps and salads. And their cocktails are so fresh and nice and always rotating! Please get air-conditioning!! read more

Great vegan options here! Needed a lunch spot on the drive up to a Maine weekend and this was right on the way with really enticing-sounding stuff. We got the frylock fries, chicken sandwich, and tofu bahn mi, and loved it all. Pickup experience was a little funky (no one acknowledged me at all when I came in), but the pickup instructions were straightforward, and the food was ready at the promised time. We recently had dinner at the Oak House in Newmarket, NH- The Oak House is located right in downtown Newmarket, NH. It's a cozy spot with plenty of seating. Service was phenomenal- our server was friendly and very attentive. The food was fantastic. Highly recommend the Nachos or the K-Pop Chicken. I love this restaurant. I've been coming here since I was a young teen exploring a vegetarian and then vegan diet. This was the first place I ate vegan food that I stopped and said "this is delicious", but there is also a great selection of non- vegetarian food as well! The employees are excellent and really care about providing the best service. The space is beautiful and provides a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. My only suggestion would be a bigger wine list, but there is a decent selection of organic and delicious wines! The beer selection is excellent, no complaints there. You couldn't place your order online for a future time...like order at 11 for a 1pm pickup so we all had to wait until 35 minutes before and then order. Ok. I'll deal. I have nothing else to do with my day but set timers to stop everything so I can eat at an even later time where I'll set another timer. I got chicken tenders. They were not great. Maybe burnt. Definitely dry. No flavor. I got fries. By the time I ate them they were cold. I probably would have enjoyed them when they were hot. I got chocolate cake for desert because why not. Well I'll tell you why not. It was dry. Like cut four days ago so the edges were dry. Skip this place. Maybe it's okay if you eat there but takeout wasn't good. read more

The food was great; however, the service was terrible. We were seated and it took 20 to 30 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. Even after we ordered drinks, the service was spotty at best. There were five of us at the table, and we were cut off after receiving just two drinks each (beers and margaritas). Meanwhile, other patrons were served multiple drinks, and they seemed more aligned with the restaurant's atmosphere, which catered primarily to middle-aged Caucasian males and females. Our group consisted of three white men and two women, one of whom is a woman of color. When we asked if we could get another round of drinks after ordering food, we were told no. This was particularly disappointing as we were hoping to catch up with friends and have a good time. It felt like a very discriminatory experience. read more

The Oak House is a definite go to place in New Market. The beer selection is rotating and we enjoyed a couple of different IPA from Loaded Question. The Miss Scoville cocktail is a must and we had a Dreamsicle that is light and goes down fast and tastes like the old Ice Cream Truck treat. The Baby Yoda is a wonderful light panini and I loved the Larry Bird fried chicken and the fact that you could get healthy salad for a side. Did steal some fries from the table and they were also great. Our server Elizabeth was attentive and friendly. Only downside is this last heat wave and a packed house the A/C just could not keep up. So maybe stay away if it is too warm, but we LOVED it. read more

I had the Frito Pie & my husband had the vegan hot dogs. Both meals were delicious. My only complaint is that I wish there were more toppings than fries in my dish. Service was quick & friendly. Food: The food was amazing. As someone with a gluten allergy, vegetarian, and food restrictions relating to autism, this restaurant had options I could choose from. My partner got a cuban grilled cheese and loved it. I got the nachos, and they were wicked good! Probably the best nachos I've had at a restaurant. Service: Amazing. Everyone was really kind and efficient. The server I had was patient and understanding of my gluten allergy, and made sure that the option I had selected contained gluten or not. Ambiance: Not over-stimulating. The vibes of the place were perfect, from lights and decor to the music. Overall, this place has wicked good food, amazing staff, and cool vibes. Stopped in for dinner on a Wednesday evening. ordered a Cuban Sandwich and side of fries. The sandwich consisted of 3 items, bacon, pulled pork and melted cheese. It was terrible, bacon that you couldn't bite through and the pork was almost missing, barely enough to cover the bread, and the rest was cheese. $18.00 The fries looked like they were leftovers from someone else's plate, most were little bits and pieces. I ordered the Franken Fries...nice name ;) The food is outstanding, I had the Durgin burger with the house made coleslaw, and tried a piece of the Lil Kim (grilled cheese made with kimchi and Korean BBQ) # AMAZING!!! What a nice surprise. We have been by this place many times and finally stopped in for a light dinner. First off, the young man who was hosting was the absolute best at this. Welcoming and considerate. He was apologetic that we had to wait and the wait wasn't bad at all. Then the waitress was also fantastic. Fun and friendly and so helpful with the menu. And the menu is great! Imaginative and lots for vegetarians and vegans. (Probably the best for vegans around here that I have seen.) My husband is a poutine fan and always judges it by Canadian fare. He thought it was great. I had one of the best veggie burgers I have had around here. Made there with white beans and it was plump! Not a frozen skinny thing. With help from the waitress, I chose the Krang Burger topped with thai peanut sauce, tempeh bacon, carrot, cucumber, grilled peppers and onions, and sweet chili sauce and it was delicious. Had a side salad--very fresh. They were having their weekly $3 off a glas of wine night and has a few good choices. The prices are reasonable, too. We plan to be regulars. read more

Pricey, but excellent. Both the meat and meatless offerings were well-made and flavorful, the menu is interesting and the service was great. Atmosphere was enjoyable, with enough space that noise levels weren't bad. Portion sizes (e.g. poutine, with its almost nonexistent gravy and smaller plate) left me a bit unsatisfied, but the flavors were so good, it was hard to overly mind. Some of the food had more kick than expected, which is a double-edged sword. I had to eat in a certain order, so as to have functional taste buds left for the milder fare. And I found something to like on the beer menu, which was nice. No, my only real complaint here is the steep prices. If the cost had been modestly less, or the food had been more plentiful, this would have been a five star review. Back to the poutine, as a concrete example...many other places would have doubled the size for $9, and I don't want to be thinking about that multiple times in my dining experience. If you're loaded, or simply don't care, it will be a nonissue for you, and it's nothing but upside. read more
