I stopped in last night with the kids to give Smashley's another shot. Things were definitely different from my last visit so I am updating my review. The burgers were not nearly as greasy or as salty as last time which was a huge improvement, and the fries had an amazing texture. They need more salt for sure, but that is something I can easily fix myself and those who like less salt will appreciate having less salt anyways. I liked my burger (The OG). Kids said they liked their burgers too, but not as much as Heavy's or Johnny's Garage. Pretty good! It's nice to have a good burger spot around the corner. I got the mushroom/Swiss/caramelized onion burger with fries. Partner got the regular burger that came with a giant tomato slice haha. Also with some brussel sprouts. Burgers were both great though not "smashed" in the sense of being thin with lacy edges with a hard sear. Not a huge problem as it was still pretty flavorful. Sprouts were awesome and fries were very crispy. Aside from a hard sear/smash, we thought it was sliiiightly salty but it wasn't excessive, just nitpicking. Whoa, this place rules! I'm from New England visiting here, so my usual go to is Chomp. While I still love their buns (they're hard to beat), I was seriously impressed with Smashleys. I'm all about a simple smashed burger with house-made burger sauce, and they nailed it on every level juicy patty, perfect cheese is very melty and the burger has a perfect flavorful crust. She went for the OG single, and she loved it! 5:5. I got the Bleu Corvette single. They put a blue cheese sauce and jam on it that are absolutely delicious!!! 5:5. We also shared an order of grilled Brussels. Mmm. So much crispness and flavor. 5:5. We had a lot of food, so we finished our burgers but only got halfway through the Brussels. Next time, I'll order the small side to go with my burger. The background music has a nice, relaxed vibe. It's not too loud, and the ambiance is just as it was--nice and relaxed, not too bright. 5:5. Alright! Finally popped in in person. Sooooo worth it! The burger was a hearty blend and a nice tasty smashed patty but not flattened and grilled to smitherines. It's the perfect balance of meat to slight crisp edges. With about eight different options that all taste amazing! The plain Jane with mayo and cheese is a great way to get the full burger flavor. Once you've got that under your belt then you should make your way down the menu! You won't be disappointed! The fries are tasty... But, the Yucca is where it's at with the pickled onions on top! I got the smashley double and it was delicious. I loved the burger sauce and the caramelized onions were perfection. I just started eating smash burgers and I love them, the patties on this burger seemed thicker than what I've had so far in the way of smash burgers. But it's not a bad thing...the patties were delicious and cooked just right. Their fries were also really good! They were fried and seasoned just the way I like them. I will be ordering from here again but next time I want to come in and eat so I can see the decor for myself. I had my burger delivered and it was still hot and fresh when I got it. When you do a double take for food trust it is worth it. Tucked away off of Dorchester Road, Smashley's is right in a quaint little shopping center with good parking. When you walk in, the house music sets the mood and gets you pumped up walking to the counter. The options are endless but to go to a burger joint with a spin immediately brought me in. Rice Bowls, Empanadas and Plantains were just some cool starters but let's get into the zucchini chips....yes I drove from Jedburg all the way down D road twice in a a week for zucchini chips. The tzatziki dill sauce to pair was amazing. I got the Fun Guy mushroom truffle burger the first got round and the Hey Zeus Greek burger the second time. Both times mouth watering and that's a lot to say when I have a little tummy. The Brussel sprouts were crispy and crunchy only thing missing is some sweet sauce like a sweet Asian chili sauce or a balsamic glaze. I will say I will definitely be back probably this week for another round of chips...hands down a good local fav now! read more

Plus awesome Wednesday specials. The kids meals are a great deal and they ate it all up. My oldest son said it was the best burger he has ever had. Smashley's Burger Bar is hard to define. It's a casual burger bar that sells Asian rice bowls and Latin Empanadas. Amazing enough it gets everything right. The interior is casual and immaculate which is no easy feat when your tables are white. It's a nod to the movie "Cocktail" with vibrant colors and glowing neon. We started our meal with an order of Cauliflower wings. Now I tend to be more of a carnivore, but I could not help devouring these tasty bites. The buffalo flavor was on point and the portion generous. Even picky eaters would love these. Next, we ordered the Chicken Empanadas which arrived hot and crispy. They were loaded with tender chicken and were a delight to eat. The charred scallion mayo takes it to a whole new level of goodness. It's a burger bar so I had to try the Bleu Corvette with blue cheese, tomato jam, smoked bacon, truffle burger sauce on a brioche bun. They use a signature spice blend on the patties that are utterly addictive! The burger was juicy and savory and I could not put it down. Next time I am going for their original burger to see how that fares. My wife enjoyed the Hot Chick with spicy crispy chicken, honey glaze, house-made pickles, spicy mayo on a brioche bun. The have heat levels from 0 to 7. If you order 5,6, or 7 you have to sign a waiver but if you finish the sandwich, they will put you up on their wall of fame. We ordered the level 3 as recommended by the server at the counter and it was the perfect heat level being just hot enough to give your tongue a tingle. The chicken itself was juicy, and a nice sized cutlet and the spice mixed the honey and the pickles made for a pleasurable bite. We went Saturday and the guy behind the counter gave us exceptional service answering all our questions with a smile and he checked with every table to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. I really wanted to like this burger, because I absolutely love the wine bar next-door so I thought it would be a perfect pairing... but the burger left something to be desired. I got a single righteous brother, and I didn't feel like the bun and the burger paired very well together... Maybe the bun was too dry and could've used an extra piece of cheese. That being said there is an entire part of the menu. I have not eaten yet and because the service is so impeccable, I will absolutely be back. I love that they had music bingo. It's a great way to break up the week and it is a fun activity to enjoy while eating. It also has to be mentioned that they have some of the coolest swag in the restaurant game. I love smashpatties so I def wanted to try Smashleys! The service was quick and easy. It is a very casual place to go with a lot of seating. My boyfriend and I ordered yucca fries to start, the og double burger, the bleu corvette burger and brussel sprouts. The bleu corvette burger was so rich and flavorful from the tomato jam, bleu cheese and smoked bacon. It also had a truffle sauce to dip or spread but I used it for the yucca fries. The yucca fries were good but I would've preferred them to be a bit crispier and have a sauce with them, like the traditional cilantro garlic. First thing I noticed was a sign on the counter that said lasagna burger that sounds yummy. I then scanned the menu a bit before ordering the Blue corvette double for my friend and a fun guy single for me. Solid smash burger place that was needed in the North Charleston area. I jumped on the chance to grab a soft shell crab sandwich while they were in season. The flavor was spot on and the crab was delicious! The smash burger was good. I've had better but it is a solid burger. They come with plenty of fries and some side dipping sauce which is pretty good. We also split some empanadas which were excellent. It's a walk up service to order then they use the buzzer to tell you when the order is ready. The one thing that didn't go well was that one of the people in my party waited for 20+ minutes for his order. When he asked about his food, they had misplaced it. Giving them the benefit of the doubt for being a newer restaurant, but that did put a small damper on the evening. They seem to have some trivias and game nights. The menu offers a variety of smash burgers and Asian food, and have great indoor and outdoor seating options. The rice bowls looks great, so I'll probably go back to try those next time. read more

Stopped into Smashley's on a Friday evening for the first time, and it was a bit crowded, which I expected. I did not expect an entire girl's preteen softball team and their parents to take up 2/3 of the relatively small restaurant for what seemed to be their last game of the season celebration, which made it impossible to enjoy our meal or hear one another talk. I feel like this kind of celebration would have been better accommodated on maybe a Monday evening or a Saturday lunch at opening so as not to disturb the rest of the customers like they did. The food was on the pricey side, and the burgers/sandwiches didn't come with sides - those had to be purchased separately, at a premium. I had a double cheeseburger and my husband ordered the Bleu Corvette burger. The burgers were fine, decently sized and cooked nicely. The "burger sauce" is run of the mill yum yum sauce like you get at a hibachi restaurant. My husband enjoyed the pasta salad, but not the cotton candy cheesecake, and the fries weren't anything out of the ordinary. It didn't taste dry to me and while yes it did have a slight red tint on the patty I am smart enough to know that it was because it was under cooked or raw. It clearly looked like some type of seasoning they use but unsure what kind. Side note, not sure this would be the best place for a kid to get a burger. Needing some good lunch and saw Smashleys had recently opened and already had good reviews. I was very excited when I saw the menu because there were so many great unique choices to choose from.
