Today I saw Dr. Pak for my first office visit and let me just say she is amazing! I'm so sad that she will be leaving the office. She has such great bedside manner and answers all your questions and concerns. I definitely recommend her! The office staff is so friendly and make you feel very comfortable being there. The front staff (Paula & Victoria) are super sweet!! They both were able to help with my referrals and appointments, and always kept a smile on there face. They both went above and beyond to assist me. Doctor Choi has and will always be an amazing OBGYN... He delivered my daughter in 2015 and my son in 2017 and will deliver my third baby (boy) any day now. His work ethic is amazing and his personality is no other. His staff is friendly and helpful all the times. Seda, who also works at his office and mainly manages EDD paperwork is the sweetest. She is fast, friendly and super helpful. I didn't have to worry about my paperwork since she took care of it. Highly recommend this practice! I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Choi - while his appointments are brief, as a second-time mom, I appreciate him keeping things to the point! I could see how some patients might feel rushed but I always came in to appointments prepared with my questions so it wasn't a problem. The front office staff and nurses are so friendly and warm. Very helpful over the phone every time I called. They also helped me order a breast pump with no issues. I've hardly ever waited for over 10 mins to see the doctor and I could always rely on Dr. Choi to return my calls the same day if had any questions or concerns (this happened a couple times!) and most importantly, he was superb at the actual delivery itself! Dr. Choi is a PRO! Another special mention goes to Mella who was extremely helpful during the process of figuring my disability leave dates, etc. Thanks to her, my disability application process was stress-free and smooth! My wife was so happy and thankful to doctor throughout all pregnancy and I couldn't understand why she was so in love with doctor but after seeing him in action at the surgery room (c section that was my wife's request) I understood . I was conflicted about writing this review. I want to share my experience with others, but I don't wish to hurt this doctor's livelihood. I submit my review with the hope that it helps him learn from his mistakes and put better care into future patients. Also - full disclosure - my insurance provider did not allow me the opportunity to select my OBGYN, they assigned this Dr. to me. But while I did not choose him, I was still very excited to see him and as this is my first baby, I was both nervous and hoping for the best. I recently found out I was pregnant and after waiting 3 weeks for an appointment with Dr. Choi, (because he wouldn't see me until i was 8 weeks along, regardless or not if that was the best thing for me and the baby) I left his office feeling nothing but frustrated. I have been told since I was 18 and developed horrible periods, that it would be nearly impossible for me to get pregnant. I've been told I have polycystic ovaries, and a heart-shaped, introverted uterus. These have been things that have been diagnosed. I have had ultrasounds and such to confirm. My husband and I had been trying for two years to get pregnant and nothing. Naturally, we were discouraged and stopped for a while. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, book, baby! To be blessed like this was a gift we did not think we'd ever get. But, i naturally thought the pregnancy was going to be difficult and high-risk. So when I went in to see the doctor, I was worried and really was looking forward to making sure the baby was okay. Dr. Choi made me feel like I was nothing but a paycheck to him. His favorite thing to do was shove things up my vagina with no warning with gel that must've been kept in the freezer. My mother had driven out an hour and a half to be there for my appointment - for her first grandchild - and she almost missed the ultrasound because Dr. Choi was doing his very best to do everything as fast as possible. The first thing he asked us was whether this was a planned pregnancy or a surprise - which i thought was a weird question as it has no significance. I asked him for 2 copies of the baby's first ultrasound to which he laughed and said he would only give me one. I pay $600 a month for insurance. I think a roll of thermal paper is around $5...you really can't spare an extra 2 copies? He kept asking me if I had questions while he was shoving his fingers or the ultrasound wand inside my vagina - as I was trying to relax. Clearly trying to speed up the questions portion of an exam which is usually not while the patient is uncomfortable. He laughed when I showed him my recent bloodwork test results saying that no one would run that many tests on pregnant women. Disregarding my questions about the test results. I thought I was being helpful, by bringing in all the information he would need to correctly get my full genetic picture, but my bad. Also, my mother ran those tests as she is a qualified technician. She ran more tests than she had to -true- because there's no harm in it. It's all things that would affect my pregnancy like thyroid and glucose levels. If unchecked and untreated can lead to serious diseases like cancer, hypothyroid, and onset diabetes. She took the approach of "better safe than sorry." So I guess doctor Choi believes that you have to be sick in order to get tests done. Guess preventative medicine isn't his forte. I did get to ask him questions - to which I got sassy answers. I asked him what kind of exercises I should do and he told me to use my common sense (oh, yes, sure, it's not like this is my first pregnancy. Because all of this is normal and totally common to me.) I have been concerned about the amount of morning sickness I've had and instead of letting me finish my sentence he just laughed and said I wasn't the only one and that he was not concerned. Nevermind that since I got pregnant I've lost 7lbs. IT WAS ON MY CHART. I told my nurse about it and I saw her write that down. He even commented on how the baby was underweight for 8 weeks. All he asked me was how much I weighed before I was pregnant, which is the same amount I weigh now. I try and be as fair as possible when reviewing and I have to say that his staff, is night and day different from him. SO helpful, SO sweet, ALL women. Coincidence? Needless to say, I immediately called my insurance and demanded a change in OBGYN. I will not be back, but I wish his staff all the best. I hope Dr. Choi can learn to treat patients - especially pregnant women- with the care and respect they deserve because it will truly make all the difference. Dr Choi became my OB when my regular OB left on vacation around my due date. After seeing me for 5 minutes near my due date, Dr Choi recommended that we induce labor at 40 weeks. I understand that going too far past your due date can bring complications but I was a second time mom with no medical issues, the baby was measuring a normal size, and I feel like he pushed induction mostly because it was more convenient for him, not because he truly believed there were imminent health risks to me or the baby. I'm over 35 and that was the only reason he gave. He wanted to schedule the induction for a weekend, preferably a Sunday after church, so it would work for his schedule. While going through the induction, I wanted him to explain a procedure he wanted to do and wait 10 minutes so I could talk it over with my husband, but he told me his wife was waiting in the car and didn't have time. I understand it's all routine for him, and ultimately my induction went fine. But I still harbor guilt for going along with his recommendation because I wonder if some of my baby's early health issues could have been avoided with a few more days in the womb. Overall I just feel that while Dr Choi may be a competent doctor, his bedside manner is poor, and he underestimates how much labor can be an emotional experience for the mother. I wish I hadn't gone along with his recommendation and waited just a few more days to see if labor progressed naturally. read more

THE WORST DOCTOR, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FIND A GOOD DOCTOR. Entrusting this doctor with my care has resulted in the absolute worst OB experience of my life. I went in for what he classified as a "very simple procedure", (it was not- at all) following the ending of the procedure he proceeds to complain to his assistant about me jumping from pain while I'm still laying on the table dripping in blood (extremely inconsiderate, rude, and disrespectful). He told me that in "1-2 days" I would be back to normal, 2 days later, I am bleeding from his subpar sutures and extremely swollen with a very hard lump, I am feeling so much worst. I didn't have any of this pain when I walked in and I am now left bleeding days later and in an excruciating amount of pain. He didn't even bother to prescribe any pain medication or antibiotics, or care to schedule a follow up. I am extremely disappointed that I chose this doctor, one of the worst mistakes of my life. He should not be practicing if he's going to be misguiding patients, treating them with no respect, and not doing his job correctly (the fact that I am still bleeding days later is concerning and could cause more severe health issues) I am now left with no choice but to see another doctor and pay out of pocket. WORST EXPERIENCE, STEER CLEAR FROM THIS DOCTOR. I never write reviews but I felt compelled, I wouldn't want anyone else to experience the same horrific experience I had and still am having to endure. Do your research before you choose a doctor, especially an OB doctor. My mistake that I am paying the price for now, don't make the same mistake. What should have been a very simple procedure with any good doctor is now leaving me to deal with more health issues, and more doctor visit costs. read more

My wife just delivered our first baby with Dr. Choi. I cannot say we went through easy and smooth 9 months. Noone can say that. That does not matter. There is no perfect, ideal doctor's office around. You cannot make every person happy since each person has different expectations from doctor. What matters is whats going on on the actual day of delivery and it really matters who is your OB/GYN. Well, the only thing we can say is that we are greatful and really happy that we have chosen Dr. Choi. He is real professional. The delivery went very smooth and quick, thanks to Dr. Choi. He underpromised and overdelivered! Thats the type of doctor you want to have! We know for sure that he will be our OB/GYN during our next pregnancy again !!! " This is by far the worst first experience ever." First off I want to say that I am very thankful to have our son and God bless him. We came to Dr. Choi because my sister had her second baby with another Doctor in his office who is no longer there. We came from about 40 mins away because of the recommendation. Absolutely every single visit was rush and only about 5 mins long. The first ultrasound was literally 15 seconds long. Not to mention that the only two visit I (dad) was a part of Dr. Choi kept looking at his watch. Now we are very understanding and considerate of anyone waiting on him for delivery but he was absolutely ridiculous. Now the worst part was that my wife had been to an Emergency Room for pain and the OBGYN there told us that our baby was too small for his size and age and to go urgently to Dr. Choi so that he could send us to a specialist to check my wife's placenta to see what the problem was. Dr. Choi the next morning said that the baby was fine and that he feels that if we go to different doctors that everyone will have their own different opinion. Which we found odd considering the fact that he HARDLY even did a proper check up and the ER did a full ultrasound and monitor. So I (dad) trusted him, but my wife who was absolutely fed up with his waste of time of appointments didn't. We got to the car and my wife had me go back and ask him to send us to the specialist. Dr. Choi looked bothered that I would go against his judgement and reassured me that he had done his job and checked the baby and that the baby was fine. So we went to the specialist two days later and they found that the baby WAS too small and not only that but my wife's amniotic fluid was pretty much gone. So we got send to the hospital that same day (by the specialist) and my wife had to be induced. As we speak my son is in the (ICU) being monitored for his small size and the HEAD DOCTOR there as well as (ALL) the nurses said that if we would have waited another week our baby wouldn't have made it. Our son will probably be there for at least one week but I am thankful to God for helping us with our child and to my wife for NOT trusting Dr. Choi and demanding to be sent to the specialist who confirmed the problem early enough to make it here. Also I forgot to mention that 2 times my wife was rushed because Dr. Choi had someone in labor he needed to attend to but when it came to us he COULDN'T make it because he was busy somewhere else so he sent another Dr. who was AMAZING! Definitely demand anything you feel you're not getting. Dr. Choi isn't a bad man, with us it was just not what we expected. ZERO STARS! Wow! These women must have gotten paid to write these good reviews! "Dr." Joon Choi is thee most unprofessional "doctor" I have ever come across. I had the worst experience with not only him but his horrible staff. There was always someone new working there. No one knew what was going on. When I first went in, the lady in the front had the worst attitude ever. I had my blood drawn for tests for my pregnancy. Went into the room and the first thing I see is a used metal speculum (the thing they insert into the lady part) in the sink. Really???? I swear I was so shocked and disgusted I just stood there in the room unable to move. After a minute, I opened the door and asked one of the ladies about it. She said sorry and took it away. Is this normal for them??? Aren't they supposed to clean and sanitize the room after every patient?? I guess that's not a priority for them. Says a lot about their practice. I have never been so disgusted in my life. So then the doctor casually comes in wearing a long-sleeved shirt with no coat, just pretty much unprofessional. His whole demeanor, everything about him was unprofessional. I asked him some questions to which he did not have the answer to and when he did have an answer it was a smart aleck answer making me feel so stupid for even asking it. After that I didn't even want him to touch me. I just wanted to get the heck out of there quick! When my results came in the doctor called me and told me that I am a carrier for a disease, which at that time I had no idea what it was. I was so freaked out, scared and confused because I never experienced this with my first child. I asked him what this disease was and he told me "don't worry, you'll find out soon at your next appointment". I thought to myself what do you mean "you'll find out soon"??? It's not something positive to find out, it's not like I'm finding out the gender of my child. It's a scary thing! I had no idea what this was and so I did my research and found out it's a horrible disease in which your child dies before the age of one, Tay Sachs. I found out from my past doctor (who delivered my first child) that he never did that test on me but I wasn't of Jewish or French decent. He said there was absolutely no reason for him to test me for Tay Sachs. Then I find out that the test results came back as indeterminate, meaning they were unable to determine whether I was a carrier or not. Also meaning, if the doctor read the results, he would have known that and had his "helpers" call me and ask me to retest since they are not sure. So, "Dr." Choi, You're calling me and telling me that I will lose my child at the age of one, the child I've been carrying for 9 months, when you're not even sure yourself and can't even explain to me what the disease means? How dare you?? He was so insensitive and rude and I swear I cried myself to sleep every night for a month. I was so depressed. It really affected my pregnancy. I can't believe a doctor would do this. I decided to get a second opinion and change doctors. I finally found a doctor and made an appointment. I had to have all my paperwork faxed to my new doctor so when I called Choi's office and asked for it they said they would fax it right away. Two weeks pass and there were no papers faxed yet. After phone calls of going back-and-forth the lady that picked up the phone told me "you know what, my manager told me that I don't have to talk to you anymore" and she hung up on me!! Omg what???? Seriously??? I had to have my insurance Company and new doctors office deal with them because I couldn't deal with them anymore. They were so rude and unprofessional. This review is solely about Dr. Choi. Office was always clean, nurses are polite and caring, but can't say the same thing about doctor. I got fooled by all the 5 star reviews and trusted this person. He is careless, unprofessional and he should not be a doctor. He was doctor for my second pregnancy and I wish I never went to him. My pains and symptoms always were ignored or as he would say " it could happen and we don't know why". Overall I was having a healthy pregnancy and no major issues. I delivered my baby at 27 weeks gestation who was later died from preterm complications. At delivery room he was so confused that all he was saying " on your next pregnancy, even if you don't come to my office, tell your doctor that your baby was born preterm". Really, that's what you had to say while I am in pain? The same day I delivered , I saw him for my regular prenatal check up and told him about my pain, but of course he didn't care to check except checking the baby's heartbeat. . After a few hours I was at the hospital with contractions. I wish I never put my foot in that office, I wish I never trusted him. My appointments after he entered the room were no more than 5 minutes . He has no bedside manners. No white coat or doctor attire. He should be ashamed about his practice and how he treats pregnant woman. If you want doctor who cares and treats you with care and dignity avoid him at all cost. I would not trust him even if he is the only doctor on Earth. My previous OB/Gyne dropped me and all her HMO patients so I switched over to Dr. Choi. He was highly recommended by my coworkers and I am mighty glad I picked him. I started seeing him when I got pregnant and my first visit was to confirm my pregnancy. I now have a 5 week old baby and I am so thankful that my pregnancy went well under Dr. Choi's care. I am what they call "advanced age" or simply put, old...teehee! I had a c-section and it went very well and very fast. Dr. Choi was in and out of the OR in 24 minutes. I wasn't counting the minutes during surgery but one of the nurses told me. Also, during my recovery time at the hospital, my nurse checked my incision and told me it was a clean cut. When I told her that Dr. Choi was my OB, she told me that Dr. Choi always does a clean cut. I'm so glad that the hospital staff thinks highly of him too.
