This store gives me a sense of nostalgia for the small family-owned Asian grocery stores my family used to go to years ago. The tiny store is packed, but the produce and seafood are as fresh as they can be. We stopped by the snack corner in the back for a quick lunch on our way to the airport. For only $12 I got a massive bowl of sullongtang packed with cuts of beef that never seemed to end. At its price point I was expecting to get a bowl of just broth, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it was packed with protein. The side dishes were crunchy and tasty. Even though I was devouring my food, I ended up not being able to finish the mountain of rice they gave me. I highly recommend coming to do your shopping on an empty stomach so you can fill up on a delicious and affordable meal in the back first! Even though we were very full, we still wanted to try the mandu stand in the front of the store. We picked up some steamed pork buns and red bean buns on our way out. The pork buns had a milder/lighter seasoning so they would go really well with a spicy or salty sauce. I liked how the red bean buns were not too sweet. Both buns were hefty and could be a meal on their own.

There's a little snack corner food stall towards the back of joong boo market!! For the price, can't beat it. $13 for the tofu soup, rice and some side dishes!! The soup is piping hot. The only issue is that the bowl has a strong dish soap/ dishwasher soap smell to it. Very limited seatings, so I'd take it to go if you don't want to wait around for someone to leave or potentially sharing table. Other than that, super affordable Korean food!! The food comes out pretty quick, and it does get packed especially during the weekend!

Great Korean food with decent prices. I had Ramen, fried chicken, kimchi and pork dumplings, and no.21 (forget the name) with my friend. All are so delicious. Will go back again!!

This is a great market to buy all sort of Asian groceries. There are lots of options in this store ranging from fruits to noodles to household bowls etc. The staff here are not as friendly though. We usually stop by one of the Asian market on our way home from Chicago to bring back home.

During our recent visit to Chicago we came here for lunch and shopping. Both of us were very happy with our delicious meals, rib soup and spicy fish egg soup. The rib soup had four pieces of meaty ribs and the spicy fish egg soup had plenty of fish eggs. Their food is always consistently delicious.

I have been shopping at Joong Boo Market for years. They have a large variety of produce and meat/seafood. However, I recently have been stopping by for the affordable prepped food and the kimchi selection. Their mandoos, onigiri, or Kimbap are perfect for a small lunch! There is also a snack corner in the store! When I'm lucky enough to find an open table, I love dining in for some authentic comforting Korean food. Their savory Yukgaejung, a savory beef stew, is my go-to. This entree also comes with several side dishes!

A very solid, well-stocked, and reasonably priced grocery store for Korean and miscellaneous Asian staples. It also has 2 "snack corners" inside and outside the building (inside one is for traditional Korean dishes; outside one is for dumplings and giant mandoos). The dumpling/mandoo stand stopped selling dumplings by the time I got there around 6:30pm, so I'll try to get there earlier in the future to try those. Instead, I got the kimchi mandoo, which is huge and contained pork and kimchi pieces. The mandoo exterior was soft and plushy, and the interior was spicy from the kimchi but otherwise pretty bland in flavor and texture. From the inside snack corner, I got a takeout order of Bulgogi, which came with rice and small side dishes of kimchi and japchae. This was pretty good-- the bulgogi was a little overcooked but overall flavorful and delicious. The japchae had good flavor and texture as well, and paired well with everything. -- Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: N/A Service: N/A Overall Value: 4.5/5

!!! CHEAPER THAN HMART !!! It's the same type of Korean food and decent quality, just cheaper. This place is a must for nearby residents. Their restaurant inside has great food with very generous portions. I recommend trying any of their menu items! I'll definitely be back for their bulk frozen dumplings, rice cakes, and vegan onigiri. - AT

Awesome selection of sake, rice, teriyaki and other sauces and open everyday. It's usually packed but they do have a parking lot.

    It is.

That depends on the platter. But most platters will have your staples: tuna maguro (red), salmon (orange), yellowtail (pinkish white), red snapper (transcluscent white with red striped border), taki (squid, white). Some may have escolar or super…

Yes and if you go on Wednesday you can get a discounted tray. Quality is decent.

They do! Though I went a bit later on a Saturday and a good amount of some of the meats were gone by then.

I was here earlier but can any one suggest me something Vegetarian here to try this time?

Soon tubu. It's a spicy tofu soup served with rice. Puh-cheem. It's a Korean pancake made with vegetables and kimchi. Both are yummy.

How much does the kimchi cost?

The big jar of kimchi is a little under 20

We ordered the brisket, baked beans , and ribs. The brisket was juicy and tender. It was delicious!!!! I do wish it was more hot temperature wise. The brisket got cold quick. The ribs were my favorite! I wish we got three orders of them. They were perfectly tender filled with flavor. The char on them had the perfect smoky touch. The baked beans were delicious, they weren't too sweet but they were filled with a slight sweet note that I believe comes from the pork bits in it. So good! We enjoyed our food with the spicy barbecue sauce. I highly recommend that barbecue sauce! Total we spent for all that was around $55. To drink I had the bourbon sweet tea. The bartender was a bit rude. I feel like my drink could've been made with more love but it did the job. My drink costed about $17 I will be coming here again. There was ample enough seating. It's beautiful coming here at night. From the scenery inside you'll feel like you're in a movie. This experience fully blew my mind.

The pork ribs were also good but I didn't try the Mac and cheese or beans so i won't comment on those. Overall service is fast but our total price was $63 which is kinda high for what we got imo.

We ordered the steak fajitas that came with beans, tortillas, and a little side of guac. The tortillas are apparently handmade and fresh, but I was a bigger fan of the corn ones instead of the flour ones. Both still very good though! We also got the shrimp skewers, and it paired so well with the free chips and salsa they gave us. I'm not a huge fan of bell peppers, but they made them so flavorful and tasty here that I couldn't stop eating them. The service was great with the servers and busboys since they brought out the chips/salsa right away and made sure our waters and drinks were always full. The only flaw I have for the place was that we waited nearly 40 minutes even though we put our name and phone number down in the front. The host claims she called us but might of dialed the wrong number, so it was a little bit of a bummer to have to come back and check in when we could have been seated earlier. However, one of the managers stopped by our table to ask how our food was and packed up our food for us at the end. The ambiance was very packed and lively in there! There were so many people celebrating birthdays that they would have signs and cake and even sing to you for your special day. It's BYOB, so there was a lot of people making their own drinks. Additionally, I'd make sure you have cash since it's a cash only place. I definitely want to come back again and recommend it to others; however, you better be prepared for delicious food and an exciting environment!!

The chicken was not as good the shrimp but we wanted to try it. I recommend getting the shrimp as I feel like it's juicier naturally.
