Jordan's crew are always super friendly and helpful; they have always had my car turned around and running in 24 hours, even when it comes in with the weird problems a 20 year-old car can make. Mike and Jeff are amongst the most honest mechanics in the world! Yesterday I went there to drop my car off for them to service today. I told Mike when I made the appointment, my car was running rough and seemed like it would die at a stop. I then related how when I last filled up with gas the cap was not completely tight. I tightened it, and it seemed to be running better. Even so, I wanted them to check it out. Rather than take notes and tell me he'll "Call me the next day to say what I need done," he said, "Let's plug in the computer now and see what it says. It told him all was, "OK!" I said I felt bad about making an appointment and not getting any work done. He said, "No problem." Where do you think I'll go when I do need work on my vehicle! read more

I came here twice to get a smog and engine check. The first time, I initially went to the Jiffy Lube across the street to get a smog check. They did not do it at that location, but when I asked where else I could get a smog check, the Jiffy Lube employee referred me to to another Jiffy Lube miles away, while this place was right across the street. I don't recommend going to Jiffy Lube for smog checks since they are douches for trying to trick me into going to a farther location. The first time Jordan did an excellent job with my smog check. When making the second appointment a couple years later the employee was very polite and nice and answered all my questions ( I would say his name but I am bad with names) . I arrived on my appointment on time and the car was immediately seen. I have the impression that the mechanics here are very knowledgeable and do their work very well. I would definitely recommend this place. While waiting I was offered cookies. When the gas pumps were on they had very cheap prices, but right now I think I was told they were broken and needed to be repaired before they can be in service again. This is a family place that is very well connected to the community and I hope everyone will help support it. Great car service and super nice people. read more

Wow. Having issues with your car and are looking for a reliable shop? Look no further! I can't express enough how awesome my experience was! I called Mike a few weeks ago explaining my car has a weird sound but no lights and wanted to get it fixed before it became a huge issue. I took my car up to the shop and later found out it was probably going to be expensive for me. Not only was it going to be expensive but the part(s) that we're needed were on back order all across the country. Long story short, I paid less than what I was expecting. Mike made sure to call me with every update regarding my car and my insurance company just to make sure we were all on the same page and I wasn't in the dark about anything. He was 100% upfront with me. Did not sugar coat anything. He was so extremely kind and patient with me when asking questions and dealing with my insurance company. He didn't try and up sell me and he worked with me to make sure I got the very best deal. Super easy and stress free experience. After realizing that the big franchised guys like Meineke and Dobbs are out to screw you over, I started going to local businesses who will not only keep your money in St. Louis, but know that they can't hide behind some corporate image to reel in customers; that a good reputation of quality work comes from word-of-mouth. This is true about Jordan Auto Service! Recommended by a friend of mine, I went to Jordan Auto Service when I was needing some new tires and an oil change. I was pleasantly surprised with the cordial service and atmosphere here, as well as the no-pressure repair advice. They took care of my old car (with over 220K miles on it) and it is running better than ever. They won the River Front Times Best Auto Repair award for 2004, and they have a A+ with the Better Business Bureau. These are rightly deserved. I started taking our cars to Jordan's last year when we first moved to Saint Louis mainly because it was within walking distance to our house which made picking-up/dropping-off very convenient. We have since moved to South City and I am happy to report that we still take our cars up for inspections, oil changes, and anything else little that needs to be done (I have an old Saab, so I normally take it for big things to GLB). I have never had anything but timely work done with very courteous and cost-conscious help from the staff. In regards to the gas issue, when the pumps are working, I have always had great, full-service gas usually for a few cents cheaper per gallon than the Phillips across the street. Unfortunately, since the pumps are so old (this has been explained to me), they have had issues in the recent past and are now have them completely shut down while they wait for new pumps to come in. I wish we weren't so far away because when the pumps are up and working again, I would have loved to continue getting my gas from them. read more

I agree 100% with James B. and the other people giving Jordan's 5 stars. Here is an example of their honesty: my Jeep was shaking when I would hit 55 mph. One of the big chain franchises told me I needed new front struts (without even looking at it). I took it to Jordan's, and they said it only needed a new stabilizer rod (at a fraction of the cost of new struts). BEWARE THE BIG CHAIN STORES. Another time I asked them to do a flush and fill along with some other work--they checked and said it didn't need it. How many shops would do that? I trust Mike at Jordan's completely to work on my cars. read more

Watch out for this place!!! They will rip you off. Went here to get my brake pads replaced. Have had this done previously elsewhere and it cost about 100-150 bucks. Made early appointment and left my car there all afternoon. They finally called and said it would be 750 bucks for brake pads and rotors! When I said I didn't need rotors they said they would knock it down to 550 dollars for brake pads. And that it wouldn't be done until the next afternoon. Outrageous! I said no thanks got my car took it elsewhere and the next place I went to charged me 106 bucks and finished in an hour. Jordan's was trying to overcharge me by around 400-500 dollars. Being new to St. Louis area, and having an older car, I had to make sure I had a mechanic who wouldn't screw me over for pricing. I had my car in for an oil change, and not only did they notice that my tires were worn (I certainly hadn't), they also told me how long they thought I would be able to risk driving on them until I had the time to get new ones. Mike's rough guess of how much it would cost was actually higher than what I ended up paying. No, its not the fastest service. No, the waiting area isn't pristine. But then again- do you really need that from a mechanic? And as long as you set up an appointment, you can wait about half an hour for an oil change. That's plenty fast for me. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a mechanic. read more

These guys are the best. Professional and friendly experts. All the worries that you have about mechanics, none of them exist with these guys. I first came in when I was having some problems with my engine. Firestone wanted to charge me over $1000 to fix it. I took it in to Mike and he said it would be about $400. Never looked back. I have been there for every single car issue since then from oil changes, to harmonic balancer issues, to bringing in used cars for check ups.
