I took my 2019 Porsche Macan here for its 40k mile check in that Porsche calls "major" appointment and needs 2 days/give you a loaner for. Called GLB a week ago, they got me in today, and was done in less than a day. Porsche quoted over double what GLB charged me. The people here are courteous and knowledgeable. I have had an engine light on for 2 years. they never fixed it. they replaced my hydraulic for my top. it wouldn't go down I took it back he said it needed the rubber replaced for 1500 dollars. sent it home to me charged me 500 for literally 2 screws didn't put my top back together and I get it home and it had a hole in it that was never there. they won't call me back but I have receipts of over 10 k. the guarantee nothing put in an oil pump I didn't need because it didn't fix the problem and when asked Bob spoke to me like how dare me question them. another thing when you look at the negative comments on here they always respond with a snarky comment. NEVER we will all you and work this out. btw. my hydraulics still don't work. They told me it was because of the liner which isn't true. i have had it looked at and they laughed that they gave me back my car like this and charge me 500 to fix absolutely nothing. Let me save u grief. It is never there fault when the same thing breaks and they charged me 500 for a diagnostic when the dealership charged me 275. They even bragged that they didn't charge me to plug it in. I said neither does Oreilly Automotive. Most disrespectful bus ever. read more

I'm here from California and I have finally found my mechanic. I have a CLS 550 and have had 3 Mercedes since 1988. It's important to have a mechanic that knows their business and shoots straight with you, is honest. I've found that mechanic. They are efficient, seem to give good estimates and get cars in and out. And the reason I found them is because I got a work estimate for my front suspension that turned out to be off by $2900! I knew I needed a 2nd opinion and I got it. Wow! Great job, fair price. Had a window regulator on a BMW 3-series replaced for a relative. Called for a quote, and the price was not only lower than other non-$tealerships in the area, but they also delivered under-estimate. They are a busy shop, but worked with my schedule to bring the car in earlier than my appointment date. Great working with them and am glad to have found a good place for repairs. I recently went to STL and experienced some car troubles. Being from out of town, I knew I couldn't drive all the way back to Chicago with my car. After a quick google search, I found GLB Motor Works. I could not recommend them more. I am used to going to the same repair shop in Chicago, so I was weary but they worked quickly to get my car repaired, and were incredibly knowledgeable about my vehicle (a 1999 Mercedes ML320). This is by far my "go to" when I have to service my German cars. They don't add on superfluous services like the dealerships do and are honest and thorough. The only drawback is they don't have loaners-as they are not a dealership. But depending on your issue-you can wait or have someone pick you up. It's completely worth it for me-the price difference is astonishing. I'll save where I can-especially since I'm not sacrificing anything. The service is much better than local dealers. read more

There have been multiple occasions where I think the work is going to cost more, and they are honest and come back to me with something minor and less costly.... I have serviced my Porsche at GLB since purchasing it in 2014 including oil changes, brake service, and new tires. They are competitively priced charging much less than the local Porsche dealer and other service facilities servicing this make. My friend inherited her fathers rare Porsche 911 that the estate let sit in a warehouse for 5+ years with no maintenance or service, which resulted in the engine and fuel system to lock up, requiring a total restoration. She looked all over the country for a qualified shop to handle this, and gave up after a year of talking to various service writers. Then it became my job to find the perfect place to perform this complete rebuild, and several sports car fanatics referred us to Bob at GLB. I went to his shop to talk about the restoration work, and he was so confident and self-assured I almost felt skeptical... right up until I walked into the shop and saw his mechanics and the amazing cars they were working on. It was absolutely the cleanest, most organized... coolest shop I've ever seen in the US, and suddenly we just felt lucky. Bob did all of the work as promised, faster than he had estimated for rebuilding or replacing literally every moving part on her car. Every call was always met with "Well, I have some very good news for you"... and at the end when it came time to pay for this wonderful experience, the invoice was $1100 less than originally quoted and agreed to. He then shipped the car to her in Lake Tahoe, which was now 5 years ago, and since then it has never failed to start, nor has it had any problems of any kind because he delivered a basically a brand new car. Dealing with Bob and GLB was quite literally the best and most positive automotive experience we have had in our lives, and we got even more in this bargain than we could have ever imagined because we also gained a trusted friend and advocate in the process. I have to say, this place is awesome. I took my swaggerwagon there to get it inspection ready when I moved here. I first called another place that has a great reputation and very high reviews on yelp but they didn't take VW's so they referred me to GLB. First of all, I did not get treated like a second rate moron because I'm a woman. The guy I spoke with was so cool and explained what ever I didn't understand but also got that I do have a little bit of knowledge of cars. Second; He didn't try to up-sell me anything. There are some obvious issues with my car that don't hinder drivability or safety of the operation of the vehicle but he never pressured me to get it fixed, only let me know what he found. When i asked when I should get it fixed his reply was "when you are tired of looking at the warning light". good enough for me. Third; they came in UNDER the estimate buy a nice little bit. I know that isn't necessarily the case for everyone, but it helps their 5 stars in my opinion. Fourth; nice things to look at while you wait! If people are willing to leave their Lambo or classic Benz or even their vintage restored (and gorgeous, if I may add) 1960's VW bus in these guys care, it says a lot to me. Plus, the guy who was working with me was as nice looking as the cars on the lot. He was probably the classiest looking mechanic I have ever easily laid eyes on. Dealerships be darned... Can't recommend. After paying for a re-wiring job on a windshield wiper and three trips as they tried different things, they finally gave up trying to repair the wiper motor. After one trip I picked up the car and drove home to discover smoke pouring out from the motor after a couple of miles. Eventually, they returned the motor missing some screws, saying, "yeah, we can't find 'em." Hope you have better luck. read more

DON'T ever bring your car here. I am certain they're running a racket, setting it up for people to have to bring their car in over and over again. I wish I would give no stars. I had a gut feeling these guys were not on the up and up, but really had no options, except to tow it to the dealer..which now I see would have been better. ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE: They incorrectly reinstalled the fuel pump (which wasn't the problem to begin with, and I tried to tell them but they wouldn't listen) and gas sloshed out all over the top surface. This is after the second time I took it in, because they refused to listen to me, and failed to fix the original problem the first time, and gave me some BS about how they "fixed" the car. And of course, it didn't stay "fixed" so we took it back in. We found out the gas was sloshing out when my college aged child attempted to refuel the car and it overflowed. In the meantime, it was driven several hundred miles with an ill-fitting fuel pump gasket and gas leaking out the entire time RIGHT UNDER THE BACK SEAT. The horror and terror I feel picturing the car catching fire, or exploding with my child in or near it!! It cost us about $1000 for them to vacuum out the cabin filter, (really!??), waste time and make me pay for their mistake in taking out a perfectly good fuel pump, put it back in, and jack around looking for (which I told them what it was) and finally "fixing" the real problem. Then for them to lie to me, ignore and dismiss me, and the worst of it, to allow them to terrorize me and my family....I will be reporting them. DO NOT TRUST THIS REPAIR SHOP!! read more
