I lived in Phoenix for over 50 years and then moved out of town. When I visit I always like to go back to my favorite Mexican food restaurants. I have never had a bad experience at Jordans and they really do care about their customers. If you want some authentic Arizona style Mexican food, you can't get any closer to that than this restaurant. Everything I ordered was tasty. Not sure where to start. The service or food? Ordered guacamole and it came with out dinner- only to have it taste like it was directly from Costco. No flavor. My ground beef taco salad had zero flavor and served with to go packets of dressing. It took forever to get served and then we never got checked on once. The restaurant was completely empty so we were a bit confused while we waited for so long adding on my food was very bland was expecting a little bit more flavor when it came to a chicken taco and an enchilada rice and beans weren't bad was just very disappointed when we asked for guac and it tasted and it looked like it came from Costco. We came here over Thanksgiving week for a birthday dinner. There were 11 of us. We have been here many times over the years. Our brother in law has come here with his family since he was a kid. They always take good care of us. It's great food at reasonable prices. Nothing fancy but consistently good food. Unfortunately I did not take any food pictures. Staff was amazing! We went in maybe 30mins before they closed and they didn't rush us or anything. The food was average though. It's basically all microwaved style, nothing unique about it. I got the cheese taco and it was just a tortilla with a ton of that ice berg lettuce with cheese sprinkled. I guess I would have preferred less ice berg but I also hate wasting food so I didn't just throw it to the side. I also got the Green Chile enchiladas. We called in an order today for my Mom who is 83 and living at The Palazzo Senior community here in Phoenix, Az. She wanted Beef Tacos and since Jordan's is close to us we thought we would give it a try. My husband remembered them fondly from his days in High school at Camelback High. We called and ordered her a lunch special, 2 shredded beef tacos with rice and beans. The gentleman who took the order over the phone was very helpful and courteous. He said just call when you get here and we will bring it out to you. So we drove to Jordan's about 10 mins later and called and he said I will be right out. Brought out the soda we ordered for my Mom which was bigger than my head and 1.25 and he took our credit card returned with our order and card 30 seconds later. Amazing in addition to her lunch combination which looked great they gave her a full bag of chips and 3 containers of salsa. We can't say enough about Jordan and we are just sorry we haven't gone before now but we will definitely be back for ourselves and Mom!! All for 12.16 and well worth it at any pric. Thank you Jordan's!! Update 8/24/2020 - My Mom who is 83 and wanted a taco salad for dinner tonight and since she lives at the Palazzo senior living center she can not leave or have visitors come in, we told her we would pick her up a taco salad to bring her some cheer. We went to Taco Bell since this is specifically what she requested and found out they don't sell taco salads anymore. So we called Jordan's and yes they had Taco Salads and they could have a to go order ready in 10 minutes. We got there a little early and they said no problem we will be out momentarily. They came out in under a minute or two and gave us the Taco Salad, chips, salsa and a large drink in record time and an epic Taco Salad at that!! We took a picture and it's wrapped in Saran Wrap so not the best picture I have ever taken but I didn't want to unwrap it. She absolutely loved it, she was thrilled and couldn't not have been happier !! Never been happier that Taco Bell didn't work out because Jordan's went above and beyond once again and we couldn't be more pleased!! We also heard they are opening this week for dine in service. Disappointed Today, we visited Jordan's for the first time, the restaurant is very clean, has a relaxing vibe, and the service was great, thats why I feel terrible having to say the food was a disappointment. On this visit, I ordered the red beef enchiladas, and to be honest, it just wasnt good. The beef was in chuncks and lacked any flavor as did the enchilada sause, chips, and salsa. Extremely limited options for anyone with any sort of food allergy including celiac. First off let me say if you're wanting GOOD Mexican food..this is NOT the place. The mild salsa tastes like pizza sauce, the kind they use on lunchables! The queso tasted cheap and don't let it get cold. The spoon literally stuck in the cheese and it solidified as soon as it was sat on the table. The Mexican pizza was burnt, the toppings were dry AF! I am visiting the area and told my friend I wanted to try authentic Mexican food. My friend, who grew up in Phoenix brought me to this restaurant that she has gone to for many years. My friend ordered a cooked crispy queso which was delicious. I ordered cheese enchiladas which tasted very authentic. They bring you freshly made chips that taste so good they are addictive you cannot eat only one. I also, ordered margaritas these tasted very good but could use just a little more alcohol I could not really taste the alcohol. I did love all the food, the portions are great. We had a very good friendly server. I would definitely recommend this place for authentic Mexican food. read more

Being a born and raised Phoenician and having lived in Central Phoenix for the better part of a decade, I found it odd that my friends and I hadn't tried this place. We drove by it all the time. It had come up in conversations as an option. But we never tried it. Now we know why. You ever tell somebody a place has a good cheese crisp and then they are like "how do you mess up a cheese crisp?", send them to Jordan's and they'll learn. This thing was somehow so dry and crispy that the cheese separated from the tortilla. Like, what? The entrees we ordered were just bland. I had an order of red cheese enchiladas and the most pronounced flavor was the corn tortilla. The server the entire time was uninterested in serving us or being bothered at all. It seemed we were more of a chore than an opportunity but that's fine. By the way we mentioned the disaster of a cheese crisp and her response was "well it's a cheese crisp". Ok. Cool. We won't be coming back and will definitely be steering everybody else clear as well. My wife and I we're looking for a place to get margaritas as jimmy buffet just passed away. We have made it a point to try new places around phoenix. We passed Jordan's and thought "why not?". The place is very clean and nice looking. We were greeted by a friendly host who sat us immediately. As we we're being sat I noticed the crowd seemed 50 or better. We got settled in and shortly we were greeted by our server, an older gentleman. We asked about a bar menu as we sought a trip to Margaritaville, and the server directed us to the back of the menu. No alcohol drinks to be found. He stammered and then dashed off towards the bar returning with a table top beer list and proclaimed "here's our margaritas and beer list". He walked away giving us a moment to decide. The list had not one margarita on it. We're off to a great start. My wife grabbed the syrup dispenser filled with "salsa" and began filling a bowl. It was smooth and poured out like ketchup. I paused waiting for my wife's verdict as she took a bite. Not good. She proclaimed it tasted like spaghetti sauce. I immediately knew this was not the experience I wanted to have. We sat down and accepted the chips. We felt committed, yet we wanted to leave immediately. We quickly made our way towards the exit. An elderly troupe took their time through the lobby an our anxiety grew. It was only one chip but it felt like we were dining and dashing(not actually. Don't ever do this friends!). We couldn't get out of the parking lot fast enough so my wife ended up driving over the side walk. Run folks... run as fast as you can to the nearest exit because this place is tragic. read more

I grew up in the area around this restaurant. As a kid the rumor was that Michael Jordan owned this place. That was almost 40 years ago. Well finally after driving by there in my moms car as a kid and never going, then driving by in my own car being older and never going, then now driving by with my own kids, I decided to stop and try this place. You'd think being open for this long that they must be doing something right!??! Weelllllllll talk about a let down. Loved the food! My husband had a chicken quesadilla and I had a taco salad with shredded beef. By far, the best taco salad I've had at any Mexican restaurant - lots of beef, half an avocado cut into wedges, and plenty of cheese along with the usual lettuce and tomato. The quesadilla was yummy as well. They have 2 kinds of salsa-one is a purée but my favorite was the chunkier one. Very fresh! The service was good too. My family has been going to this restaurant since my parents were in HS dating. I've always enjoyed eating there due to the atmosphere and the food was piping hot. It didn't matter how long I was away out of town working my server (literally the best ever!) knew what I wanted. Very impressive and he always carried a smile, sincere word and made you feel like family. My Dad knew Bobby Jordan from going in there for so many years. This afternoon "my" waiter who's been there 20 years was gone and this rude, snappy gal took his place. She's horrible and the atmosphere is completely reflective of how she treats everyone. It just didn't feel the same so if you don't think people make the difference please know they do! The food didn't seem as hot and fresh as it normally was, but with the customer "not" service maybe it just felt like it tasted different. Was in the neighborhood and thought I would give it a try. Usually when I want Mexican food I look for a small place without much flash. Jordan's is not this, the sign out front is quite large, as is the parking lot and the building. The inside is large but appeared clean and did not have any lingering odors. Seated promptly, the menu looked typical with nothing jumping out at me. My eyes went to chicken enchiladas, so that is what I choose, with green sauce. Portion size was nice. The chicken was very tasty and overall the dish was quite good. I did have to add some hot sauce as I like a little heat. It was a quick lunch and I was satisfied with what I ate. Food was not that good it was horrible, Salsa tasted like it is straight pizza sauce, not chunky and definitely not homemade. Our food tasted like it was microwaved, tostada was plain, taco was more lettuce than anything. This place should not be called a mexican restraunt POPOs on 67th ave and indian school food is real mexican food. Sad to say this restaurant has been around for years and this was the first time going. Also, I was so disappointed by the food and the service. They received 1 star because it was clean, but the hostess was so nice. The waitress Veronica, was so rude. One of the ladies at our table was ordered a drink , she was asking about the different Tequilas and prices. I was talking to the other people on our table, which we were a party of 10. So I turned my head to the left and hear the waitress say, " I already explained that 3x. I didn't hear the question, but if she has to explain 5x she should and with a smile. She had an attitude that we were bothering her during her work hours. Now I'm going to talk about my order. I told her I wanted a Chimichanga with rice. When I got a dried out burrito. It was not deep fried, and the beef was hard, we're it had been warmed up several times. At the time of the receipt, one couple paid in cash, her question was how much is going towards the bill and how much is going towards gratuity? It should of been $1- I also could not find my order on the receipt. We finally figured it was a #6. I told my gf, I didn't order a #6. Always passed by and always wanted to stop and finally did so and I've come here twice now. So glad I did during the Lunch Hour Specials 11am-3pm, at $8.99. When you look at the dinner prices, it's pretty pricey for what you're getting and for that, I'll stick to the lunch specials. I ordered the cheese enchilada and the taco both times. The cheese enchilada is soooo damn good...it's different than other places I've tried. Tony said they squeeze the cheese somehow and all that grease they throw out. Taco's first I got the shredded beef, which Tony recommended, second time the chicken. Chicken was still bland to me as all places tend to be, but the shredded beef was delicious. I love their chunky salsa but the one they have in the bottle you pour yourself taste a little too tomato saucy for me. The only thing I didn't like about it, Tony is very talkative. He can stand at a table talking to regulars for a long time. First day I was standing and waiting to be seated forever while he talked to this older couple. To the point the woman was looking at me and trying to get Tony to stop talking and turn around. Second time he was on the phone trying to get someone to pick someone or something up and a customer had to get up and walk to him and ask for a refill of his drink.
