Jos A Bank is a chain menswear shop offering discount suits, shirts, and some business-casual options. The prices are rather high, but drop steeply during sales periods, and alterations are extra. Sales people rotate three times a day, and although they try hard to be helpful, their powers are limited. Do allow lots of extra time for any alterations, even something as simple as getting pants hemmed. At a minimum, the store requires a week-and-a-half to hem pants. In my case, the tailor hemmed two pairs of pants to different lengths, with cuffs, although I asked for plain, and put a stain on the crotch. It took another week and 6 calls to the store to get the pants right, and 3 reminders to get the clothes pressed (supposedly included with all alterations). Graciously, the salesperson waived the alteration fee for the ordeal. read more

Jos A Bank is an excellent place to get a decent suit and/or work clothes. They usually have excellent sales every month and so you should never pay full price for any suit. They compete well with Brooks Brothers in terms of qualify and selection. I love their new ad campaign - The "Risk-Free" suit. Buy a suit for $199 and you get your money back if you get laid off. Sad, but a sign of the times. read more

I stopped by here today looking to buy two new suits on the recommendation of a friend that has purchased suits here in the past. I walked in and although there were three salesman, only one of which was helping another customer, not one person said a word to me when I entered, walked the entire store, or walked out. Ridiculous, but the next store I went to was very happy to take the $1,500 I would have spent here if anyone had acknowledged me. read more

I've been in several times since moving to the area in July. The salespeople are not too knowledgeable nor friendly. The worse is the older lady who dyes her hair black. She has been dry, rude, and downright ugly to me. Furthermore, when trying to locate items online since the store carries a limited number of shoes (and no shoelaces) she couldn't navigate anything on the computer. Basically, go to the store for the sales, but avoid the salespeople. The customer service is horrible. read more

Shouldve listened to previous posts. Went in today and felt unwelcome. Two guys one helping a couple and one not in the front ignored me completely. I walked around unsure of what i was looking for and no one asked if i needed help. I asked one man for help. Very unfriendly. When i asked about pants he said to put them on ( the ones that paired w the jacket and visually were huge and were no way going to fit). Waste of time. And what a joke. My wife and I went to Jos A Banks today (11-15-2011) at approximately 12:20 pm. We were there to purchase a $500.00 gift certificate for our son-in-law who purchases the majority of his clothing at Jos A Banks. The sales person (apparently the only sales rep in the store at the time) had one customer (a gentleman and his wife). We walked around the store for about 20 minutes looking at the clothing. Not once did the sales person acknowledge our presents or at the minimum make an effort to acknowledge our presents (retail 101, "Someone will be with you momentarily" or words to that effect). We were totally ignored!!! Needless to say we left. The sales person was a young man wearing a pink shirt with a white collar and necktie. Will never, ever walk into that store again!! I was not impressed. Went in to buy a suit and expected experts. Had a hard time finding someone to help us - they treated us like they didn't care if we gave them our business or not. Bought a suit - the price was good and then went to the tailor to get the pants hemmed and they hemmed them with a 3 inch hem. Really? Went back and the man at the store told me that was not uncommon and we should wear them like that. Ended up going and getting them hemmed somewhere else. I would rather go somewhere that the people want my business and are helpful when I am dropping a couple hundred dollars. They also didn't carry the right size shirt for my husband and they just were oh well. read more

My mother in law purchased my husband a suit from here as a Christmas gift otherwise we would have left as soon as we arrived. Staff is very cold and unwelcoming. The first person to 'help' us was a very stuffy gentleman who insisted that every thing my husband didn't love about the suit was 'how it should be.' My husband was ignored and it took me AND his mother to help him get his points heard. After all, its his suit, and he has to wear it. After alterations were made we came back only to have another woman argue with my husband (or try to shut him up) telling him about how things 'should' or shouldn't be. Third times a charm I guess, they finally were exhausted (as were we) and did what we asked... which was alter the suit by a half inch. Had this not been a gift I wouldn't have dealt with the stuffy know it all staff that made us feel so out of place. Go to Nordstrom or literally any other suit place. 3 stars is beyond generous in my opinion but at the end of the day (and three employees later) we left with a suit. read more

I was a bit leery about going here because of the prior reviews. After an professional emergency due to a wardrobe malfunction at the office gave me no choice but to find a place nearby to purchase a new pair of slacks, I found myself in this store. Rod was as much a gentleman as he was a good salesman. He offered his opinion and recommendations when appropriate, but did not hover over me. His recommendations led me to finding the exact pair of pants I had not even hoped I would find (an odd size) and to not only purchase that pair, but an additional pair as well. When I inquired of the turnaround time on custom suits and dress shirts he did not pressure me at all and instead was understanding when I mentioned that I may come back at a more convenient time, when I could spend a bit more time. I will be back. The experience may lead this place to become my new favorite location to shop for work clothes! read more

A horrid place, with less than helpful employees. Their knowledge is limited to what an older man tells them, and he is generally wrong. Purchased two signature suits, the crotch wore out in both suits within 4 months. I have 8 other suits from other makers, and none of them have become damaged as quickly as the poor excuse for a suit. They claim the wool is straight from New Zealand, but I doubt it. Costs are exorbitant, and even with the sales they have, I still feel cheated. read more
