I was in Browns on Tuesday, July 1 and had the most obnoxious salesman ever. Geez, hire some better help !

Poor experience...They have a lot of brands only a poor selection or variety of them! I told the salesperson what I needed(I had a specific request) she said oh those shoes over there will work...I even complained while I was in the store they didn't seem to fit right...she didn't care. I had to return them two days later...(Your'e better off going to the shoe company web site where a lot of brands - have a 30 day wear test policy for returns.) I went to several places here in College Station looking for a pair of Five Fingers. Nobody had my size (39). Finally found Brown's and stopped by. The place appeared to be local, but turns out it is a chain. The staff kept their distance until it looked as if I needed some help. I personally like that kind of service. I didn't have to give him the 'I'm just looking' line. Found the style I wanted and asked if they had the size... yes they did. While I was trying them on, the salesman hit just about all the points about Five Fingers that I had done research about. So it appeared that he knew what he was talking about. Browns saved my feet and my sanity. I am working a seasonal job in cowboy boots and my feet were killing me. I bought several pair of Dr. Scholls inserts but I was still in pain. I expected to have to purchase a whole new pair of boots but I went to Browns and they suggested a insert I've never heard of. I tried them on in the store and they gave me just the support I needed. I've worked several long days since and I'm just fine. They could have sold me an expensive pair of boots but they didn't. They helped me save money and fixed my problem. I went into Brown Shoe Fit today to buy several pair of shoes. I had shopped there before and bought a pair of Abeo flats which I really love. I walked in and was acknowledged by a young man but he never can over to assist me. Rather a woman walked in behind me and he assisted her. So I waited. A young woman named Amber (I only know her name because she was asked her name as she checked out another woman) completed checking a woman out and then went to the back of the store, l am still waiting. In walked a family by that time Amber had come to the front again and assisted the family who walked in. There was also another lady behind the counter that never acknowledged me. I left Brown Shoe Fit and will never go back because of the poor customer service. read more

We have shopped at this store for years. Two things you need to know about Brown's - they are a full service shoe store and they carry high quality shoes for the entire family. On my first visit to this store I was looking for work shoes that wouldn't hurt my feet and were not ugly! The sales associates were friendly and knowledgable about their shoes. Their customer service included a computerized measurement of my feet and assistance in trying on different shoes. Their selection of shoes was impressive. My husband had foot problems for years, even to the point of seeing a podiatrist. The sales associate measured his foot and made some shoe suggestions. My husband bought a pair of Eccos. I think he is now on his third pair and his foot problems are gone. I have bought work shoes, dress shoes for a wedding, summer sandals with bling and shoes for my toddler grandson. Their shoes include the higher end, quality made brands. I don't think you will see any six inch high stilettos, but you will find comfortable, quality made shoes and exceptional customer service. read more

The manager at this store is extremely rude. I purchased Danskos here, wore them once and hated them. They hurt my feet terribly. The manager told me "oh these shoes are great they won't hurt your feet at all" then she proceeded to tell me when I tried to return them that "I can't tell you what will and won't hurt your feet. They work for me.". I told her that she sold me these shoes on the premise that they WOULD be comfortable. She told me I should have worn them around the house to see if they were comfortable. I'm sorry but NO NURSE will know if shoes are comfortable for work after just wearing them around the house. She only offered me an exchange and not a refund for barely worn shoes. I then wished to find some shoes that worked for me and exchange them so I asked for some recommendations. She refused to give me recommendations because "obviously my recommendations don't work for you". BUYER BEWARE. take your business elsewhere. read more

This is the best place for "high quality" shoes in College Station. I wish I had come here first instead of wasting time driving all over town. Here you will find a modest selection of the better brands of daily wear comfortable shoes. read more

Absolutely the rudest clerks I have ever encountered. I practically begged to purchase a pair of shoes, but could not get a clerk to even attempt to help me. I told her exactly what I needed and all the help I received was "look on the sales rack". This is my second attempt in this same location--the first attempt had the same outcome. read more

Just took the 4 grandbabies to Browns. Very few stores or people will even measure kids now days. They were knowledgeable, did a nice job of measuring, and had a great selection. I telephoned to ask for availability of specific brand and style of shoes previously purchased at Brown's. The phone rang 20 times & disconnected. I called again. When the person said they only had the shoe in size 40 & added "it's a sandal - right?", I said no. He then said "it's a lace up?" - again, no. Asking for help from someone who might be familiar with the stock, I was asked to leave my telephone number. Apparently, my husband was correct in deciding to no longer shop at Brown's. It seems the store is no longer owned by the people who trained their staff, know the stock and strive to deliver great fit and service. read more
