I spent more time with his assistant/nurse than I did with him. Had a physical with labs and I told him that I think I was having perimenopausal symptoms and listed my concerns, and he had the audacity to say, "You're just getting older. You're going to gain weight and experience these symptoms. It's a part of life. Eat more protein and veggies, and exercise more." **Spoiler Alert** I work out all the time, and I fast and eat super healthy. As a woman, we know that it's not as easy as 'eat protein and work out'... he made me feel like I was imagining things.
Look sir, if you aren't educated in women's health, just say that. Maybe ask some follow up questions and send your patient to a more qualified doctor or an OB-Gyn or at least offer to run some tests.
But he didn't do that. He said, "what do you want me to do next?" Ummm... not sure since you're the medical professional, so I was hoping you could tell me what we need to do next?
So I threw out there, "I'd like to see an OB, maybe get some blood work done, and a physical therapist for my wrist." And this very qualified doctor wrote out all the referrals I asked for without questioning it, and sent me on my way. What an absolute joke.
Update - I ended up never going back to that practice again and I have since found a very qualified amazing doctor, who took the time to listen to my concerns and actually did the blood work. Only to find out that I wasn't imagining things. In fact, I was so far into perimenopause, that I was almost POST menopausal.
I see a lot of 5 stars here for him and if he's good to you, great! But if you're a woman who needs someone who listens and doesn't make you feel like you're in a production line, you should probably go to a better doctor. read more
