My husband and I really love this place. I absolutely LOVE their guacamole and queso. I'd go just for that. We always try to get something new when we go and so far my favorite has been a steak taco. Any of the burritos are great too. Their rice is delicious and I love their little corn nugget things. Kinda obsessed actually. Their tortillas are pretty good and I have no complaints about salsa. We've been several times and I've only had 1 bad meal. We usually get good service but once we had a very distracted server. Overall, I wouldn't complain and I don't think anyone in my family would either. Anytime my nephew (3 yrs old) visits he wants to eat at "hot pepper", so I think he would give it 5 stars too! read more

Great service and good food, wasn't too crowded either. I thought it was gonna be bad because of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised.

First off, Will the manager on duty today was awesome, friendly, helpful and a pleasure to talk with and I couldn't have asked for anything more. We came in late this afternoon to a partially busy restaurant and was seated quickly. Are waitress came to are table and told use about the special and the 25th anniversary margarita. I ordered the pollo magnifico and the margarita. The margarita was delicious and I have never had a bad pollo magnifico. I have been coming here for year's prior to my yelping career and have had many dishes that I would have again but so far my favorite is the pollo magnifico and the fried stuffed jalapeños appetizer. Jose Pepper's is a great restaurant if you like Mexican food. I had dinner and ordered the Shrimp Fajitas. The shrimp was plumpy and the vegetables that comes with it was very tasty. I love their chips...not salty, but thin and crispy. The waitress, Tiffany, kept coming back to check on me (eating solo), even though she had a large party right next to me. Oh, if you like Margarita's, I read on the menu (and heard others around me order them) for 2 for $7. The service is quick and the staff is remarkable. They all seemed to work together as a team. I'm stuffed! Stopped in for dinner after an afternoon movie. We arrived just before 5 and were seated right away. We started with the Espinaca and 25th Anniversary Margaritas, which were great. For an entree I went with the special of the day which was the Jalapeno Chimichanga. It was a lightly fried flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken, bacon, onion, tomatoes, and cheese then covered in a creamy jalapeno sauce. Our waitress was great, very pleasant and attentive to our needs we were never out of water or anything else for that matter. We will definitely be returning. read more

This is the slowest Jose peppers we've ever been to. Its memorial day weekend And they seem to be severely understaffed. We didn't get chips and salsa even until 10 minutes after ordering food. 4 Star Mexican food in Belton? Absolutely! If you want consistency, if you want to order food and not have it screwed up, and you want service with a smile, and you're in Belton Jose Peppers will give you what you want. This is where my family ends up anymore if they don't want to drive downtown and they're craving Mexican food. We've been fans since they were located in Raymore in a little hole in the wall place, and we still support them now in the nicer location along Hwy 58. My family and I came for dinner. We were sat in Jamie's section. All was good until the food came. Then every minute and a half Jamie was coming by to ask how everything was. After the thousandth time, I told her everything was fine, please just let us eat. Well we became invisible after that. Our drinks sat empty for the last 30 minutes of our visit. She just walked by like we weren't there. I finally asked for a manager, who was another server by the way. She made every excuse possible for the bad service, then followed it up with "You made her cry, so she felt unwelcome at your table." So apparently you're not allowed to have a conversation with your family while enjoying your meal. Instead you're to strategically eat your food so you can answer your waitress every minute and a half. This visit has totally turned me off to Jose Peppers. read more

Jose Peppers is consistently delicious. I have never had a problem and I have been here a countless number of times. Austin, in my opinion is the best server in the world. He is always so on top of things - even when every seat in his section is full. We are never without chips, salsa or drinks - even for one minute-when we sit in his section. Austin is also super friendly and incredibly fast, I feel like he is always 5 steps ahead. Way to go Austin, you really deserve a raise. read more

I just moved here my first Mexican restaurant here. Has to be the most bland white bread Mexican food I have had. Taco had zero flavor and the salsa was watery and I think the added way to much cilantro just so it had flavor. Stick to authentic Mexican food. We showed up to Jose Pepper's late in the evening. We were coming from the Chiefs pre-season game and many restaurants that we passed seemed to be closed already, which was surprising since it was a Friday night. I don't like showing up to a restaurant 30 minutes before closing time, but the staff stopped working on their closing duties to take care of us. We had never been to Jose Pepper's before, so we were not really familiar with the menu. Our waiter brought us a free queso dip since it was our first time at the restaurant. It was very good. He let us know that next time we come in we can order it and it is only $1.99 with the purchase of an entrée. Good to know for future reference. The salsa and queso were delicious. The chips are great--very thin and crispy, just the way we like them. Our food seemed to take a little while to come out. I kind of expected the staff to be in a hurry to just throw something together and get it out so they could get out of there. I remember how it was working on a weekend night--there are plenty of other things to do besides serve this late-coming customer. But they took the time and did everything right. The food was very hot when it arrived at our table. This was not the greatest Mexican food that I have ever had, but I didn't have any complaints about it. It was good, but not great. I am not the biggest fan of Mexican food but my wife loves it. So the first and so far only time I went to Jose Pepper's was pretty decent. The food was hot coming out and had a lot of flavor. The plate was full and good for the price. The inside of Jose Pepper's had a lot of seating and wasn't too crowded. I only have one complaint and that was the service. The day that we went it was pretty busy. It took our waitress a while for refills and what not. Jose Pepper's was good enough that I'll be back. It's been a bit since I last Yelped mainly because dining options are extremely limited in Northern Cass County and lean more towards those of the fast food variety. The wife and I decided to use one of the many school fund raising cards that we purchased and opted for Jose Peppers in Belton. They were busy but we were lucky and got seated right away. This is the second time we have been here. We do not live in the area or we would come more often. The reason we chose this location was due to the GREAT service we received our previous time. This time we ask for a vegan option with our waitress. She was not familiar with all the options so she had the manager come to our table. It ended up being the general manager (Will) . Will was very helpful and accommodating. Will even made a special trip back to give another option. Then we found Will in the kitchen helping out the cooks to get it correct. Full disclosure: The Espinaca Con Queso (jalapeno cheese dip) is the food item that always gets me salivating. I can't get enough, and often quip that if they could find a way to get a tube to pour it into my mouth I'd give it a shot. The most fascinating part is that I'm mostly lactose intolerant, but it's worth the pain. In the three years I've been frequenting Jose Pepper's, I've only eaten two different dishes: the beef tacos and the beef enchilada - both so tasty and wonderful that there's no point in veering off. I often hear about people wanting "authentic" mexican food, and if that's your thing, I doubt this is the place for you; however, if extremely tasty "Mexican" food with the typical American touches (cheese, sour cream, seasoned beef, mild salsa) are your Achille's heel like they are mine, the place will become a favorite like it has for me and many others who have reviewed. In the end, the testimony is in the business itself, and this place has expanded into larger locations in this town and consistently has no room for parking at lunch and dinner. This has become a local fave. It's very close to home and the food is delicious. It is a bit noisy, but not unbearably so. It is moderately priced. Make sure to get the Espinaca Con Queso. Very yummy! I am a creature of habit, and typically get a grilled chicken quesadillo (hey, when you know what you like). But the waitress challenged me. Daughter and son in law took us Saturday evening. It was busy, but we were seated quickly even though there were 6 of us. I took off a star because the floor was slippery. Got the ground beef chimichanga and the green sauce was hot, need to remember to substitute for the next time. Small portion of rice and beans. Overall was pretty tasty and will return and try something different. Another lost star was the constant asking if they could take the plates while we were still eating. If you like mexican food, then you will probably love Jose Pepper's. This location recently (July 2008) Moved into a larger facility and are still always packed. The wait staff is excellent and is always making sure that you are taken care of, and the manager always walks the floor to help. To me thats the best part when the managers do something. The food is amazing. Their Monterey Chicken Burrito is to die for. If you like Queso, you may want to try their espinaca dip. The only down side that I find is they only serve pepsi products, Other wise, I highly recommend Jose Pepper's. read more
