Ask for Dana! He's an amazing server. Just fantastic. His information, recommendations and flawless execution were outstanding. This was our first time at Ancho & Agave. It's a small chain from IL. SO good!! It's elevated Mexican food. Some items are very similar to what we find in Mexico. Of course, queso dip doesn't exist in Mexico, but we love it and this one is good. The fajitas, enchiladas and Gringo burrito (with ground beef) were all simply delicious. So tasty!! Nearly every single thing here is made to order from scratch. So you can customize for preferences or allergies. The ancho salsa is spectacular. I didn't have to ask for hotter sauce, as they have it right on the table. Red, green, and black habanero sauces. I had never seen the black one before and it was HOT! Loved it!! If it's you and your partner, or a buddy and you each have 2 drinks (FANTASTIC margaritas!), plan on dropping $100+. It ain't cheap. This will be our special treat Mexican spot. Too rich for every day. We'll stick with Teocali or El Alteño as usual. But for a real treat or special occasion, Ancho & Agave is superb top shelf food and drink. I highly recommend it.

4.5/5 Great location. Inside was clean, plenty of seating, and aesthetically pleasing. We shared chips, guac, and salsa (the rest of the group also had queso, which they guarded like it was gold). I ordered the Smoky Blood Orange cocktail -- strong, with just a whisper of blood orange. It hits fast... the kind of drink that reminds you to pace yourself. For my entrée, I had the mesquite‑smoked chicken enchilada, and wow. Easily the best enchilada I've had so far. Packed with flavor, super tender chicken, sitting on cilantro lime rice with a tomatillo green chile sauce. Fantastic! Enough leftover to take with! My only complaint? I wish they had a bigger drink and appetizer selection. Overall, though, this place was great -- definitely worth the visit.

The ambience of the restaurant was an A+. I pass by weekly when heading to the gym so visiting Ancho has been on my list of to do's. Glad I finally stopped by. The service was exceptional as well. Our waiter gave us tips, suggestions, warnings so I knew not to order something spicy. I always appreciate the honest of the waiting staff, it makes my experience so much better. We started with the queso. I would say it was pretty mild, not as flavorful as some other quesos I've tried. The Plantains were delicious, nice change in taste from the savory flavors in the main course. I decided to try the smoked chicken enchiladas but hope to try more when I make it back. They were very filling, the chicken was tender in spots but not throughout the enchilada. So a little disappointed but still tasted good overall. I felt like I would have liked to have a little less Verde sauce as it was slightly overwhelming. Check it, enjoy the ambience and the food.

New mexican place in LS, yay! The good: -Our waitress was also the bartender and was great. Very nice and helpful -The margaritas are excellent -I did the chicken taquitos and they were very very good -The complimentary salsa is a hit The less good: -The queso is crazy bland. Literally tastes like nothing

The scenery, lights, cleanliness- I love! The Jalapeño Margarita oh my goodness. Just became my favorite over Don Chuys We ordered the Armstrong queso dip- delicious I'm not a fan of the idea of the burrito turned into a salad(bowl). I believe when you add salad to your bowl. It's a salad. No longer considered a bowl. But still love the place. Will return to try something else! The bartender is a delight to engage with.

The atmosphere was great-minus the sun because they hadn't gotten their blinds yet. The chips and salsa were underwhelming, as were the margaritas and cheese dip. My husband had three tacos and really enjoyed the Nashville chicken taco. I think I had a burrito or enchilada. It was good, but not anything I would go back for. Overall, it felt like they are trying to make an upscale Mexican restaurant with ingredients that don't necessarily make sense. Unfortunately, we won't be back

Beautiful and delicious! This place is brand new and it sure is popular. We arrived around 5pm without a reservation on a Saturday and were told it would be a 40 minute wait. We got on their waitlist which was monitored by phone, which I love. It wasn't needed though because we got seats at the bar within minutes. On top of being crowded, it sounded like they may have ran out of a few things. Understandable for a new, popular restaurant while they learn inventory needs. Our bartender/waiter was very friendly. She was overwhelmed with people and change but still managed to take care of everyone in a timely manner. The food: my burrito was perfect. I haven't had Mexican food with this many spices and flavors in years. To be honest, I've grown accustomed to the typical generic flavors around here. It was so refreshing to taste something with such complexity. I was blown away by the chicken tortilla soup at the first bite, and my burrito was delicious. My margarita was very good, but the raspberry was subtle. The salsa served with the chips was flavorful without being spicy. The chips seemed homemade, which is nice but not my favorite. I can't wait for this place to die down a bit or I plan it enough in advance to make a reservation. I want to try everything on their menu.

Went last night to watch the Draft and had a great time!! Josh hooked us up at the bar & kept us entertained! It was clean & very spacious in there. I will come back to try the food as we just went to drink.

If you are looking for a Mexican restaurant with different flavors than the standard Mexican places in Lees Summit, I would highly suggest going to Ancho & Agave. Everything that I tried there was delicious and fresh. I loved all of the different single tacos you could pick from so you could mix and match to what you are feeling. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. There are lots of tables and it was pretty loud so I would take that into consideration. But overall it was a good time and our waitress was very nice. I am looking forward to going back.

I was excited to try a new spot in town! We came for happy hour, which was a little early in my opinion. There is a ton of seating inside but it didn't feel too crowded. Our server Paris was awesome, so friendly and nice! The food was fine but nothing really stood out to me. I had three tacos: sweet potato, grilled shrimp, and blackened salmon. I loved the different textures in the sweet potato. The grilled shrimp had a bit too much of the mango for me. The salmon was definitely my favorite! I'm also not usually a fan of corn tortillas but these were delicious! We also had an order of the esquites. The corn was grilled and felt fresh. The sauce felt a little too processed, almost like powder cheese. All in all, the menu is so big that I would definitely return and try some other things!

Went back to try full on happy hour last night and it was fantastic! Had to write another review because we tried so many different things. This place is the real deal if you're looking for something new and Mexican. You won't find these options anywhere else.

This is a new restaurant in Lee's Summit. I have been twice. Based on other reviews I guess it's personal taste regarding margaritas. Our group found them very tart and undrinkable. They replaced our first drinks but the second one was not much better. The pitcher was $50 and packed with ice. The drinks are very expensive and really get more ice than drink.. Happy Hour food was unremarkable. Dinner was street tacos-gringo and carnitas which were good and reasonably priced each. We also shared the Gringo burrito was really good. At $17 for a burrito, it is very expensive but it was huge so we split it which took the sting from the price. We asked for spicier salsa but it was an extra charge that typically is not an up charge. I am sure they will make some tweaks in the coming weeks. We will not return for the margarita but we will probably try the food again however we will be price conscious on what we order. We were hoping this would be a place where we could meet our friends for dinner and drinks regularly but this is not the place.

Food is mediocre and the ambience feels like a tired trope from 2010. It is shame that this is what opened up in 2026.

I'm not sure what to say after reading all the reviews on here... I'm left wondering... were we in…read morea parallel universe or something‽‽‽ We stopped in after an appointment I'd had on a Monday in Lees Summit. We decided to have a quick early dinner here in town, and did a Yelp search for "great places to eat near me". This place was high in the list. We read the reviews and found ourselves driving around a building that had ZERO markings for the Burn Theory Fire Kitchen on it, but our Maps app said we were here. Turned out, the food for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen was cooked in a food truck in a parking lot and served inside the Diametric Brewing Company which is located at the address listed for Burn Theory Fire Kitchen. I will say, my husband ordered a special beer called "Cherry Street Wheat" and it was very unusual, and seriously tasty!!! I'm not a beer fan, but would drink one of these any day! So, getting back to the food... we'd both ordered a trio of street tacos that we did a mix and match of with their various proteins. We ordered this way to share with each other. We also love to discover new and unusual bites. After reading the reviews and their menu, we were excited for the promise of something uniquely delicious... and were completely disappointed!!! All but one (excluding the shrimp) of the six different tacos we'd ordered, bordered on the inedible side. The proteins were seemingly overcooked, folded into little leathery tortilla shells, and served to our table cold, dry and tough. They tasted as if they had been reheated from the weekends leftovers. Maybe we came on the wrong day. Perhaps if we'd visited on a weekend, or on the same day they were actually cooking the meats initially, we'd had a better experience. I don't know, and frankly do not plan to find out. Additionally, to be fair, their condiments (ie: the Ketchup and BBQ sauce) seemed to be made fresh and made from scratch. They were sadly the best part of our meal. Honorable mention to the Diametric Brewing Company which served us one of the most delicious and unique beers we've ever tasted!
