I am writing this review with 2 days post op and with my new 20/15 vision! I had been looking to…read moreget LASIK for the past year and decided that this would the perfect time due to being able to work from home. A few things attracted me to EDOW: the convenient location (in Tyson's), the latest LASIK technology, the experienced doctors, transparent website with all the forms, risks, videos, etc. and it not being a massive chain. There was also a $1000 off promotion for PRK and Custom LASIK when I scheduled. I like that each LASIK procedure included a customized eye mapping to prevent some of the negative side effects (halos, glare, etc.) which I learned is not standard for all practices. The whole process was seamless from the initial free consultation that I was able to schedule for the following day to the post operative appointments. The initial consultation included a standard eye exam, cornea mapping, vision evaluation and eye health exam. Jon was extremely helpful in answering questions and explaining each step. My eyes were healthy and my corneas were thick enough so I was approved! I was able to schedule the pre-op, LASIK surgery and post-op immediately after the appointment. For the next two weeks, the tech instructed me to wear my glasses to allow my eyes to return to its natural shape. All the appointments are confirmed online which is very easy. The pre-op only took about 45 minutes. This is when my eyes were dilated, mapped, and the "true" prescription was assessed for the surgery. They also ordered my prescriptions through Friendly's Pharmacy for delivery to my home. The antibiotic and corticosteroid drops were delivered the following day. All very easy! The actual surgery day was about 2 weeks later at 2pm on a Thursday. I was in and out within 35 minutes! In the first room, Jon administered a bunch of drops (numbing, antibiotics, others) and also gave me a Valium. They also gave me glasses, eye shields, post care instructions and some lubricating drops for home. A few minutes later I walked to the LASIK suite where I laid down for the procedure. Dr. Kang explained each step and the expected feelings and sounds so I was completely at ease. I never felt any pain whatsoever. The first machine applied some pressure my eyes one at a time, my vision went temporarily blurry and then I was moved to the next machine to reshape the cornea. I focused on the green light and noticed the slight burning smell. But felt I absolutely no pain or discomfort at this point. The whole procedure lasted maybe 5-7 minutes. I then went a another room where Dr. Kang evaluated my eyes. I was then sent on my way! My vision was already was about the same as when I wore glasses just sensitive to light and a bit hazy. The first 2 hours were probably the most uncomfortable since my eyes felt heavy from the drops and I felt a bit dizzy. I napped with my face mask and new eye shield since my eyes just felt sensitive and tired. Two hours later I felt like a completely different person. I did wear sunglasses inside to avid glare and diligently began my eye drop regime. I was able to watch TV and that night without an issue. The following day was magical as I woke up with better vision than I had with contacts. I had very little dryness and none of the halos/glare/redness people talk about. That morning, I drove myself to for the post op where the optometrist said I had 20/15 and with almost no inflammation or discomfort. I even ran that afternoon. I would HIGHLY recommend this practice if considering LASIK. Everyone was extremely professional, knowledgeable and skilled. I attribute my speedy recovery and excellent results to them. Just remember those drops!!

The earliest appointment I could get was on June 23, almost a month and a half away. To make it worse, although I live in Tysons Corner, I could only get an appointment in their inconvenient (to me) Chevy Chase office instead of their Tysons office. At the appointment, instead of updating my prescription, the doctor prescribed medications for supposed problems that have never been diagnosed before. I now have to go back to that inconvenient office on August 31, which means I'm stuck with my outdated prescription until at least sometime in September -- unless they come up with another excuse to delay things even further. From first doctor appointment, it is going to take at least four months to get glasses with a current prescription. That kind of delay is entirely una.

He went on a rant, telling me I had no right to question him, bragging about performing surgery on professional athletes, and claiming he's the best in the area. His response was defensive and dismissive, completely misinterpreting my concerns as an attack on his abilities. Instead of addressing my anxiety, he focused on boasting about his reputation. This was by far the worst healthcare experience I've had, all thanks to Dr. Holzman's unprofessional tirade. Needless to say, I immediately canceled my procedure and will gladly take my money elsewhere.

I had set aside FSA funds…read more A few days before surgery someone looking at my chart reached out and told me my cornea was too thin for the procedure. Thank God she told me or my eyes would have been permanently damaged. This is after two doctors associated with this group had cleared me for surgery. They suggested PRK instead which is extremely painful and has issues with healing properly. You need better people on your team and control procedures to avoid hurting people.

The front doors are heavy and have no automatic doors. The office door is heavy and doesn't have a door stop. The nurse who checked us in put us in a room and made my mom struggle to transfer from her wheelchair to the exam table, just to tell her she'd then have to transfer back again and repeat the difficult process in the doctor's designated room. When we expressed the challenges with this, we were told that the doctor "can only see her patients in her room." For a medical office, everyone was completely ableist and disinterested in the needs and challenges to using a wheelchair. This practice should review its practices asap. DO NOT GO HERE.

I purchased a pair of Vera Wang eyeglasses here in the summer of 2025. They broke (not through any…read morenormal wear and tear) in April 2026. The person at the eyeglasses counter examined the glasses and said that she would speak to the practice manager about replacing them, possibly getting the manufacturer to replace the frames for free. I've called four times to see where we are with this. The eyeglasses person now no longer works there, and every person who talks to me says they will check with the practice manager and get back to me. Never happens. I had thought I could shame them into doing the right thing but now I see that this behavior, treating their customers like dirt, is how they do business. I will call this one a loss and move on.

Today at 3 pm I received a call cancelling my surgery because they failed to timely ask for pre authorization and had not obtained it. Puzzling as the hospital had obtained it. They had no concern for the pre surgery tests and lab work I was required to timely have and pay for. Arranging transportation, pet care home help etc. just wasn't a concern for them. Several other patients were also impacted. Hope my warning helps you find a better practice that actually cares about patients.

Speaking with Ingar initially, after researching various opthamologists in the area, I fully expected to wait several days to see a doctor. However, after explaining my symptoms over the phone to her at some length, she consulted with the doctor and had me come in right away. This was my good fortune, to say the least. A thorough exam was done and Dr. Woo scheduled me for surgery within a few hours to repair a detached retina. The care I received at Inova Hospital was outstanding and subsequent follow-up appointments with Dr. Woo have so far indicated that I'm on track to obtain the best possible outcome and return to work very soon. I received from Dr. Woo and his staff what I needed most during my recent emergency: expertise, experience, and compassion.

The nurse asked us all of the questions and took detailed notes. The dr came in only to spend more time asking the same questions. When she was explaining the diagnosis I was asking questions. She got super irritated!!! If the practice sees this review, let the dr know her irritation was uncalled for, and she was very rude. Will NOT be scheduling with this dr again. Why be in this profession if you cannot be patient and educate your patients?!?! Do not recommend dr gulati. Do recommend dr woo. Practice overall has long wait times. Nurses and front desk helpful.

I have had chronic eye problems since I was a child, so have seen a number of ophthalmologists…read more Dr. Mitchell is the best of all of them and he has been exceptional in my opinion. If not for the care of Dr. Mitchell and his staff, I probably would not be able to see well enough to work any more. As a long term patient, I have been seen by most of the technicians and both Dr. Mitchell and Dr. Morin. My visits have been both routine checkups and emergency visits when I have had problems that needed immediate care. Without fail, they have identified what needed to be done and delivered a treatment plan that worked. At one point, Dr. Mitchell referred me to a specialist for a rare condition with serious health implications. I liked that he knew his limitations and was comfortable sending me to a subject level expert. When I researched the person I was referred to, I was pleased to learn that I was being sent to one of the best in the country! I have always been treated kindly and with respect. The doctors and staff listen to what I say and give thoughtful responses. They are really the best!!!

Dr. Mitchell is awesome…read more So 4.5 years ago I had him do my ICLs, which were fantastic because, as someone with vision in the -10 to -11 range in each eye, in addition to dry eyes, I was not a LASIK candidate. Those ICLs made it so that I didn't have to wear glasses anymore, and could see just like everyone else. Hooray! But then about 2 years ago, I had a corneal lesion (don't ask, you NEVER want to have one of those-- SO horribly painful) and that (likely) set off a downhill slide into ... CATARACTS. Yes, a 38 year old developing foggy vision, especially in the left eye, where I'd had the corneal problem. By the time I was 40 (earlier this year), my left eye was completely fogged and useless and my right eye was halfway fogged up. It was like looking through an opaque fogged up shower door all day long. I couldn't see squat. 40 year olds aren't supposed to have cataracts! Grandma and grandpa are! Well, in swoops the gallant Dr. Mitchell to save the day, yet again. During surgery, he pulled out the ICLs and the fogged up natural lenses and gave me crystal clear new lenses and now I'm seeing better (mid-range and distance) than I ever have. EVER. Even with the ICLs. (The reason for that is it's always better vision the fewer lenses there are - so natural + ICL is going to be worse than just natural.) Because I had an astigmatism to fix and they don't make toric multi-focals (and the Dr. says he thinks they wouldn't be that good anyhow because it's trying to do too much), I will always need (pharmacy-bought) reading glasses for the two feet or so in front of me, but sheesh! I can see again! I can read street signs! I can see leaves on the trees instead of just a blob of hazy color! I. Am. Thrilled. Marry me, Dr. Mitchell? :-)

I think this office is my favorite. I never have to wait. The front desk staff are organized, courteous, and professional. I was greeted by a receptionist and the assistant. They assistant performs a few eye tests before doctor comes in. She explained the testing process. One small complaint, I had to ask her if I was getting the a "glaucoma test". She said yes. Perhaps glaucoma tests are included as part of regular exam unlike in the past (at different doctor offices) I opted for the extra test. I was in and out within 15 or 20 min. The LensCrafters staff was waiting for me and escorted me next door to their store. This was great because some locations are so busy it takes a while to get someone to help you. Overall- a relaxing and seamless experience! I'd recommend this practice.

For my last appointment, I messed up the schedule (no reminder from the office), I thought my appointment was half hour later than my actual appointment. While I was almost at Tysons Mall, I received a phone call from the front desk asking if I was going to be there. That's how I realized i put down the wrong appointment time. So I asked the front desk should I reschedule the appointment. Knowing I was already almost in the garage, the receptionist told me I can still come in. So I arrived 10 minutes late for my actual appointment. When I arrived, the technician promptly took me to do a quick examination and sent me to the room for Dr Son to arrive. Dr Son came in without any greetings, no facial expressions. I immediately apologized for being late. He had no response to my words. Immediately he started the vision test, but very obviously not as thorough as before. He finished the examination quicker than usual and told me my vision hasn't changed a bit. I told him I feel my current contacts can't see far enough, I wanted to adjust it more for driving. He told me I can see far enough according to the test he just did. Then walk out without a word. I looked at my watch, from the time I walked in until Dr. Son left the room, it's less than 10 minutes. For all the years I've seen Dr Son, this is the only time I had the schedule wrong and arrived late. I don't think I deserved the passive aggressive attitude from him. If I was really that late or caused any inconvenience for his time, they could simply reschedule me. Not going there again.

Ok, so this is going to be a long review, but totally worth reading if you have horrible eyesight…read morelike I did. I had horrible, horrible eyesight & if you're telling yourself you do too, wait till you hear my old prescription. 'cause I had to live over 10+ years with this degree listening to people with -1 or even -.5 tell me how bad their vision was. cue rolling eyes. I was a -11 & -12 in my left & right eye respectively. Now you can gasp & go, "holy sh*t". that's right. I was pretty much blind. If I didn't have glasses or contacts in, my whole world was one giant blurry mess. I couldn't make out distinctive items & I sure as hell couldn't identify a human being from one another. Funny enough, I never looked into laser eye surgery because I didn't know if I qualified. I originally went to TLC laser eye surgery (where they wasted my time and told me I would not qualify for laser eye surgery due to my high degree). So, I had to call around & actually ask clinics if they took in high degree patients. Spoiler alert, a lot of places do not due to the high risk factor involved with taking in high degree patients. You basically burn off a lot of your eye tissue to even get you to a better degree. Now I wasn't expecting anything wild, but anything is better than what I was at. I finally called Liberty Laser Eye Center after reading a review about how this one patient with a high degree was able to get to -.75 after her surgery. She was just about the same degree set as me & was going on over a few years after surgery. Naturally, I had to call them & make sure they still took in patients with my degree. Dr. Tanchel was so ready to work with me & to see what she could do for me. She never pressured me, but gave me a ton of information on the procedure itself. Spoiler alert - I went through with it. I could only qualify for PRK - which is the original laser eye surgery before LASIK came out. PRK is the procedure where they scrub the top layer of your eye ball & then shoot a laser into your eye. I will say during my procedure, I was pretty nervous. She put in numbing eye drops in my eyes & I had to wait a few minutes for it to set. Weirdest feeling to have your eyes numbed. I had my right eye done first & then my left. The system started recalibrating before they began on my left eye. Omgosh. So, so turns out the numbing drops don't last a long time. After the system recalibrated, they pulled me back into the room. I felt her scrub my eye ball, whooo, weirdest feeling ever. She thankfully put in extra drops in my eye & I felt so much more relief. Each eye took about a minute to complete & each time it just felt like I was looking into a red dot. Afterwards, I left a little blind. I could see right after for a split second before my vision went blurry. I ended up sleeping in my closet for a whole week & that was nice. I was constantly tired & sleeping. If I was sleeping, I was putting in my medicated eye drops & regular eye drops to keep my eyes hydrated ('cause I just had them burned off by a laser.). It's been over six years, and to say I am happy is understated. I am beyond thrilled that I can see. I am ecstatic that I can wake up in the middle night without being blind to my surroundings. I no longer need glasses/contacts to be able to see. y'all I can drive without any corrective lenses. it's amazing! highly recommend you contact Dr. Tanchel for an appointment.

Took my money for nothing :( I consulted here for LASIK,…read morethey took a $250 charge to hold my appointment/discount my price, two days before the surgery they called and said the machine ran a software update and wasn't working so I would need to reschedule, I waited and waited and kept calling with no update available until finally I scheduled somewhere else, I called to get my money back and the lady at the front desk said she would have to ask the doctor, since then I've called to ask for a updates and still nothing. It's been 3 weeks since I first asked for a refund of money I paid for a service they couldn't provide and I keep getting told there is no update. I can't speak for the quality of their work but I can say it's been difficult to get any information or my money back.
