Dr. Raviv is a corrupt, incompetent that performs unneeded procedures on patients for profit. I visited Raviv in 2014, and all I needed was endoscopic sinus surgery (where the surgeon widens the sinus passages to promote better drainage). However, when I was sedated, he threw in an unnecessary septoplasty that essentially cut off airflow on the right side of my nose. For people reading this, I have included x-ray images of the inside of my nose, before and after my surgery with him. As you can see from these images, my nasal airway was equally open on both sides, before surgery, and the septoplasty didn't need to be done. By performing it, he severely narrowed the right side of my nasal airway. Raviv performed this unnecessary surgery to collect that additional insurance money. Furthermore, when I contacted him after the surgery, and told him that my breathing was worse, he told me that he wouldn't be able to perform the revision septoplasty (make the septum the way it was before). Therefore, not only is he greedy, by performing unnecessary surgeries, but he is incompetent, for not being able to fix his mistakes. This unnecessary surgery has caused me to suffer for 9 years. Since I can't really breathe out of my nose, I don't sleep well at night. I am then exhausted all day, not able to function well, and there is nothing that can be done to fix it. I have lost friends, and jobs over the years, and I am not able to pursue some of the career goals that I wanted to when I was younger. The only reason I can't sue Raviv is that my statute of limitations for medical malpractice has expired. In addition, Raviv is also a coward. As soon as I started talking about my negative experience online, instead of apologizing or trying to remedy the situation, Raviv hired a corrupt, unethical lawyer named Luisa Trujillo (who now, ironically, works as the head of Northshore Legal affairs). This lawyer sent me a cookie cutter "Cease and Desist", informing me that I would be "sued" if I didn't stop talking about my experience. That was 6 years ago, and I haven't stopped anything. When that didn't work, Raviv to the Northbrook Police Department, hoping they would scare me into not sharing my story. That was now 3 years ago. Well guess what, I am not going to stop talking. I am going to keep spreading the word until everyone connected to Northshore knows about this. This doctor absolutely devastated my life, and the hospital did nothing about it. Don't see this doctor. I visited Raviv back in 2015 with complaints of sinus congestion, and he said I had a mildly deviated septum. He therefore performed septoplasty and balloon sinus surgery (where they increase the size of your sinus cavities). After the surgery, my breathing seemed to worsen. I visited Raviv again, to try and determine why things hadn't gotten better. He didn't have a solution for me. I also visited other ENTs after the surgery to see why my breathing worsened. Other doctors reasonsd that Raviv might have taken too much cartilage out when performing the septoplasty, and now every time I breathe in, my nostrils cave in, and I can never get enough air in my nose. The other ENTs I visited also examined the CT scans of my sinuses before the surgery, and they said my septum was "midline", and that the septoplasty was unnecessary. I would have been fine with just the balloon surgery. Now, the only way to fix the problem is to visit a plastic surgeon that will reshape my nose, to increase the diameter of my nostrils. This will give me a broad ugly nose, that is mismatched with my face. The procedure also isn't covered by insurance and I will end up paying $30,000-$50,000 for it. Raviv took a minor problem I had and made it much worse. I can afford the remedy to make my situation better. I wish I had never seen this doctor. read more

I'll trust my instincts next time. He didn't seem like he had it all together during the office visit. At first, I thought he was just social awkward, but still medically competent. This also turned out to be very wrong. I'm not really sure what he did to me, I was only supposed to go in for a simple septoplasty. But after my surgery with him, I ended up with FOUR complications -- empty nose syndrome, nasal valve collapse (where the walls of your nose cave in when you breathe), severe nerve pain that I have had everyday since the surgery, and a septal perforation, that I didn't have before, and now I do. When a simple surgery leaves you with four complications, it's really hard to believe the surgery was done properly. Because of these complications, sleeping is very difficult, and during the day, I am physically and mentally exhausted from the poor quality of sleep that I now get every day. For people reading this, I have included a side by side, X-ray image of the inside of my nose "before" and "after" my surgery with him. Notice how before, my airway was equally open on both sides. Notice how after, airflow blocked on the right side. When I approached Raviv about this after the surgery, he told me he couldn't fix the problem. Therefore, not only is he greedy, by performing unnecessary surgeries, but he is also incompetent for not being able to fix his mistakes. If his goal was to turn me into a debilitated zombie in constant pain, then the surgery was a roaring success! I never could have foreseen that my daily life would be this horrific. The smallest daily tasks have now become painful chores thanks to the physical misery and perpetual mental fog from exhaustion. My face is constantly in pain and it hurts to breathe. The sides of my nostrils now cave inward when I inhale. It's beyond anything I could have imagined. I remember thinking it was just a simple procedure. In a hundred lifetimes he could never make up for what he has done to me. Make sure you look up Empty Nose Syndrome before you ever let a surgeon touch your sinuses. After my surgery with him, I ended up with four complications - atrophic rhinitis (the mucosa membranes inside my nose are dry to the point where they burn and I can't feel air), nasal valve collapse, severe nerve pain in my nose, and a hole in the middle of my septum. When someone ends up with FOUR complications after one surgery, it's hard to believe the surgery was done right. The side effects from this botched surgery have severely wrecked my sleep and taken a severe toll on the quality of my life. read more

This doctor is the worst. I had sinus surgery with him several years ago and he made my breathing problems ten times worse. I now have atrophic rhinitis, constant nerve pain in my sinuses, nasal valve collapse, and a hole in the middle of my septum, that I didn't have before. I don't know what he did to me to give me so many complications, but it has severely ruined the quality of my life. I can barely breathe out of my nose, and my sleep is ruined. Seeing this doctor was a big mistake, and I wouldn't wish what I have gone through on anyone. read more
