My son actually had the same doctor that I had growing up for the first two years of his life. I was very sad to see her retire but not worried about finding a new doctor within the practice. We have been seeing Dr. Waterman for the last 3 years and now she sees my baby girl. She is so helpful and personable. She is very knowledgable and listens to all the questions that you can come up with. The new office expansion is great. It allows for extra rooms and they have enough toys and books in the waiting room that we actually stay after our appointments to play. But we are never waiting for more than a few minutes to be called back to our room. The nurses are fantastic. They are kind, patient and thorough. We all know it can be a whirlwind with kids but they always handle everything so smoothly. The nurses are very helpful over the phone and relay messages to the doctors in an appropriate time frame. Two generations have been going to this practice so it should be obvious that the doctors and the nurses are phenomenal. So when she switched to a Concierge Care system, charging $500 per child per year, I was devastated that we could not justify the cost for only a visit or two each year with our healthy children. I obviously needed to find a new pediatrician that my family could afford and when I requested my children's records I was told that I would be charged $70, $35 per kid, for their records. As a middle class family in this economy we were really left with no choice but to find a more affordable provider, and to be told that we were being charged $70 to leave a practice that we really did not want to be leaving is extremely disheartening. I'm extremely disappointed that Dr. Franzia took this path with her practice, and that she couldn't even give the courtesy of waiving the record transfer fee for families that could no longer afford her practice.

Dr. Rappaport and her assistant, Beth, have refined the drudgery of taking a kid to the pediatrician's office by cultivating a relaxed, welcoming, and warm office setting. That approach is central to their patient care. Whether it's for a yearly check-up or a sick visit--the high standards are the same. I believe Beth typically says, "when can you come in?" It's unusual in any business, let alone medicine, to find someone who looks to accommodate my schedule. Once we are there, both Beth and Dr. Rappaport take the time to listen to our concerns. They are in no hurry; I never feel rushed or flustered that I haven't had all of my questions answered. The care is exceptional. Dr. Rappaport has a common-sense approach and impeccable medical knowledge. She's never alarming, always measured, and extremely compassionate. It's clear she is not just a doctor, but also a mother, who relates easily to her patients and their parents. In addition, she has built a marvelous rapport with my boys. She has cared for them since they were toddlers--they are now very active 8 year old twins. She's as thorough with their physical exam as she is with their mental well being; dealing with topics such as bullying. She gives them (and us) clear-cut, age appropriate advise on how to deal with it. I don't typically write reviews, but I was compelled to do so in this case. This is a different style of medicine than I have ever experienced. I'm so grateful to be a part of it, and I believe it's worth letting others know that the run to the pediatrician's office doesn't have to be a frantic, impersonal, or harried experience.
