Smallest $11 burrito I've ever seen
    Evan V.

Kept seeing all the great reviews so I decided to try it out today. Upon approaching the guy that was working clearly did not want any business, did not make eye contact, did not say hello or thank you. I decided to get the burrito which came out to $11.50. I'm from Colorado so I'm expecting a big filling burrito that you could actually eat and be filled up. Unfortunately the burrito was so small you would need at least four of them to match the size of a Colorado Mexican burrito. So if you got four of them here you would be eating a $45 meal. I should have just went to Taco Bell and would have got so much more value as the flavor was equivalent. Very disappointed and will not return. No value, no flavor, no friendly people.

Great food! Amazing taste and lovely for the evening. Vegetarian and Vegan options, too. Yum! Delicious!

A must visit food truck on SPI. Family run small business. The owner is a good person to chat with... he smilingly shares his journey while focusing on prepping your food. Give them your business. Very good food. You will not be disappointed.

    Beef tacos

Stopped by here after walking out a restaurant a couple doors down... big burrito was massive and my son tore it up... the corn in a cup was very good! I had the beef tacos and they were very good! The small nacho was a basic concession stand nacho. My wife had the frito chili pie and had the cheap nacho cheese... would for sure recommend the tacos!!

Awesome service. Awesome food! Big menu option. Tacos were delicious! You have an option to do corn or flour tortillas.

Good breakfast burritos. Can choose your own fillings. Always fresh & very friendly staff. Go about 1x a week when in the area.

Here's what we saw: From the outside the restaurant looks good with a dog friendly patio and decent parking around the side of the building. The inside is clean and well maintained with a few TVs to catch games. We sat outside since we had our dog with us and our server was fantastic. He had a lot of jokes, knew when to give us space, and was just incredibly attentive all around. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ran out. The food was very mediocre, granted they just started serving breakfast recently so they're probably trying to work the kinks out. We ordered the pancake breakfast with breakfast potatoes, bacon, and Texas toast as well as the chillaquiles with beef fajita. The pancakes were very thin and chewy, definitely not a high quality batter and not moist. The bacon likewise was chewy and the toast was, well, toast. The best part of the dish were the breakfast potatoes which had a good texture and flavor to them. As for the chillaquiles, it was decent. A bit of a messy plate but nothing that took away from the meal. The beans, tortilla chips, etc were good but the best part was the beef fajita, seasoned well and pretty juicy. Again, it's hard to write this place off as a 3 star because we think they're a work in progress on the breakfast side and likely have better food on other parts of the menu, we can just only write about our experience. Service was phenomenal, that cannot be understated. Likely a place we will try again if ever back in SPI and hopefully we can rate higher next time!

Saturday night, 6 tables walked out and if we wernt such a big party i probably would've too. Our server was an older man who seemed completely checked out. What made it worse was that the restaurant wasn't even busy. There were maybe 20 people total, and still--everyone looked restless and annoyed. It wasn't that they were overwhelmed... it was just painfully slow service for no reason. Our appetizer took 40 minutes to come out. You'd think the entrees would follow shortly after, but nope--those took another full hour. We weren't the only ones either; even the smaller tables around us were waiting forever. It felt like we were being ignored. Now here's the twist: the food was amazing. Like seriously, 10/10. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully plated. Wtf truly I was torn--I was mad at the experience but in love with the food. You can see from the photos, it's definitely worth eating... if you order to go. Bottom line: if you've got nowhere to be and a lot of patience, you MIGHT walk out happy. But if you're on any kind of schedule, skip it. Great food, nonexistent service.

Walking in my son was like this has a great vibe, it's going to be so good! Walking out he said... well we got tricked. We ordered raw oysters, they were super gritty I had to pick sand and stuff out of my mouth, I gave up after the second one. Clam chowder was like white water with seasoning on top. It had zero flavor and was so watery. Luckily our server had just brought us a sample so we didn't lost any money, just said no thank you, but thank you for the sample. Dinner we had kids chicken which was a thin tender that was over fried so more like rubber. The kids shrimp was alright, I would for sure do that over the kids chicken, but they didn't get finished either. The hush puppies were also over fried, I was so excited to try them but the outside and most of the inside was just pure grease fry and just a tiny spot in the middle was still breading, I've literally never seen a hush puppy like it. I was so sad lol. I had a side of blackened shrimp that had good flavor but the shrimp were over cooked and again sort of rubbery. My son had the shrimp poboy, there was no sauce on it, sandwich was so dry he ended up picking off the shrimp and eating them alone. He did not care for the bread they used either which surprised me because he is a carbaholic with a bread obsession. I should have looked at photos before ordering the onion rings. I'm sure some people love the thick cut so it's a total preference thing but the for us no one cared for them. It was cool to see them we were all like whoah! But after 1-2 bites each we were all like meh. The onion slices inside was like eating an apple, they were so thick and now possibly under fried so was like eating a breaded raw onion. After tip I think we spent $140 and I was just disgusted. We've been to the island maybe 6 times and this was by far the worst meal we've had. I was so sad we "wasted" a meal on our trip, there are so many places to eat here. We've driven by the spot for 3-4 years and always wanted to try so what a disappoint. 1 star for food, 5 stars for service, so a 2 star review.

Our waitress, Marlene, was fabulous. She was attentive and friendly. For our entrees, we ordered the Filet Mignon and the Smoked Duck Breast. The filet was incredibly tender and flavorful, which isn't always easy to achieve with such a lean cut of meat. The beef jus paired perfectly with it. The duck breast was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The highlight of the night, however, was the Key Lime Soufflé. This was easily one of the best desserts I've ever had. The balance of flavors was perfect. Not too sweet, not too tart, just the right amount of key lime. The soufflé itself was also baked perfectly. Every course was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the entire meal felt incredible from beginning to end. I arrived around 10:30am on a Friday, and although the restaurant was packed, was seated immediately at the bar. Not only was it Instagram-worthy, but it tasted just as good as it looked. Creamy, rich, and infused with notes of Mexican chocolate and cinnamon, it was one of the best specialty coffees I've had in a while and the artistry was incredible. For brunch, I ordered the CLEO (a lox bagel with egg) and the SPI Breakfast Platter. The CLEO had great flavors--the smoked salmon was fresh. My biggest critique was that the soft bagel, warm egg, and lox lacked a bit of textural contrast. Even so, the individual components were delicious. The SPI Breakfast Platter was hearty, well-executed, and exactly what you'd hope for from a classic breakfast. I'd love to come back the next time I'm in South Padre and try their lunch menu, the dessert case was very enticing.
