I come from Sacramento to have my teeth cleaned and looked at so it's still worth the trip. The hygienists have mostly stayed the same, with some retiring as it was there time, but for the most part they are still intact. Appointments- They are only open 1 Saturday a month so it's rough trying to get a Saturday appointment. I usually make my appointment at the end of my appointment so they can usually schedule me in a time that works best. Just be aware that it's tough to reschedule an appointment the closer it gets to your appointment as appointments are made 6 months in advance. Parking- They are in a business park and they have a private lots so parking isn't an issue. Farmer's Market- If you come on a Saturday there is usually a Farmer's market across the street in the Kaiser Shopping Center. So if you are early or waiting for someone there is something to do. Dentist- It's a husband and wife couple. They are both very nice and all seems well. I don't have any gum disease or cavities so I can only judge on the regular 6 month appointments. For now I'm a satisfied customer. Ambiance- It's nice a cozy, the receptionist knows your name so you feel at home. They have a bathroom right off the waiting area where you can refresh your mouth before going to the appointment. Make sure you ask the receptionist for a disposable tooth brush to do a quick cleaning before you have your appointment. They used to have them in the restroom for your, but took them out. They are infused with toothpaste so there is no need for more. There is also mouthwash and cups in the bathroom so you can do a quick swish. Decor- I still love the paw prints on the ceiling tiles. The place is clean and fresh. I love the unique whimsical stools the air purifier is on. They have little games for the kids to play while they wait and a stack of magazines to read in the lobby. Goodie Bag- Kids still have a toy check they can get a toy from. That is always a plus. When I was a kid I'd love getting my tiny gift. And for the adults we get a new toothbrush, the color of our choice, a choice of toothpaste and floss. I love the mini toothpaste as I use them when I travel. They are the perfect size for TSA.

First of all, Dylan at front desk is the most organized, friendliest, most helpful person ever! Every time I walk in, Dylan immediately greets me with a "Hi Julia, I've got you all checked in here you can take a seat". I don't even have to remind him my name, he's always prepared and knows who's coming in for the day! I also had some confusion with my insurance and he patiently explained to me how everything worked even though it really wasn't his job to do so! I never have to wait more then 5 minutes to be brought back and once I sit down, Dr. Don Shimizu is generally ready to see me too! Dr. Shimizu has got to be one of the most cheerful and kindest dentists in the area! He always asks how you're doing, during the procedures he'll make sure you're doing okay, and he always makes sure to let his patients know that if anything is bothering them, they can always give him a call! I've had teeth cleanings, cavities filled, and crowns replaced by him and everything has gone smoothly! Due to my special medical needs (including lupus) and related tooth structure loss--possibly from pregnancy, health factors, or both--dentistry has always been challenging for me. Dr. Bottene is personable, gentle, and a straight shooter. Whenever he can preserve natural tooth structure, he does. In "wait-and-see" situations, we monitor things, and many times the issue has resolved on its own. I trust his judgment completely. The front desk staff are efficient, courteous, and friendly--no drama or gossip ever overheard. The office has a peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. From the start, it felt like they were pushing unnecessary treatment. I was told I needed a "deep cleaning," which is typically only recommended for patients with gum disease but my teeth and gums are healthy. The cleaning itself was done by a hygienist and it was extremely painful and caused bleeding. It felt overly aggressive, like my gums were being stabbed rather than properly cleaned. What made the experience worse was that the actual dentist barely saw me, literally just came in for a couple of seconds to say hello and then left. There was no proper evaluation or explanation. After the appointment, I was told that my teeth weren't even fully cleaned and that I would need to come back, be numbed, and finish the cleaning later. So essentially, I went through a painful experience and still didn't receive a proper cleaning. I was also left with a pretty sore and sensitive gum that is still recovering days later. To make things more concerning, they recommended the same deep cleaning to my husband, who also has healthy teeth. It honestly feels like this is being pushed on everyone regardless of actual need. I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to any treatment here!
