I cancelled after they ESTIMATED $898 for a job addition I got done perfectly for $300! All in all, they ESTIMATED $2,400 for all the work and I got it done EXTREMELY QUICKLY and PERFECTLY for $1,200!!! Off the bat he started making tile cuts on the pavement out front leaving saw marks everywhere. The tile in the bathroom is so uneven that the toilet doesn't rest evenly on the floor, water has been leaking out and has warped our brand new sink. I bought some transitioning strips, it wasn't cheap, he advised me it was the wrong type so he bought a cheaper type of strip that doesn't match and I'm assuming he kept the better ($80) trim and remaining baseboard. It wasn't in the junk pile or anywhere in the house. The cuts for the trim are awful and they aren't even fixed to the flooring. Where I was at fault was that I didn't have enough tile to finish the bathroom. And it was as simple as me buying more. That is what a consultation is for, to make sure you as a professional have everything you need to get the job done right. Preparation is the most time consuming part of the job. If I had time for the prep work I'd have done the job myself. I never approved the job he did. On the day I was supposed to pay him he never showed. He knows he did a crap job as he never came for his payment. He asked $300 for the job, I would have given him $600 for a job well done. A lot of handymen are booked out right now, we were in a hurry to make some upgrades to sell the house. Even when I have come up with some "small change". He always works with me to solve the problem. He is good at electrical, plumbing and construction. He has done major construction, e.g. he built a soffit to house a rotating chandelier. We have him transform our backyard from a patio to a solarium ever winter and back to a patio in Spring. He has done small projects like solving why we have no cold water in the kitchen sink. He has installed a reverse osmosis system for us. I'd hire him if I were to remodel my kitchen or a bathroom. He came and installed quickly and efficiently. No more leaks! Additionally, I had been in the process of installing new Subzero and Wolf appliances in the kitchen. The company has very strict requirements for installation of the refrigerator. Upon inspection, it was determined that the above refrigerator cabinet had to be raised to accommodate the new refrigerator hight. Also, the electrical outlet needed to be moved up several feet because all the electrical workings sit on top of the refrigerator, rather than below like most refrigerators. Chuey was able to make the necessary changes BUT, it didn't stop there! Because Subzero suggests a "built in" look for esthetics, I needed to add panels to fill a small gap. I could have purchased panels from Subzero for an added cost but Chuey was able to create a wood panel and stain it to match existing wood cabinets. This also required the crown molding on top the cabinets had to be added to fit the new changes. Chuey was able to find moldings and stained this to match. Chuey managed to work around both our busy schedules and this was much appreciated. I am very happy with my new appliances and all the extra work Chuey did to retrofit and create a beautiful esthetics in the kitchen! I would recommend Chuey and plan on more projects for his handy work!
