At first it appeared to check all the box's Is it possible to be to sleek... too minimalist? The shop lacked a massive cup-full of charm and then the coffee...it was lackluster and one dimensional and I never complain about coffee. Have a seat and relax...oh wait seating is awful and very limited. Maybe the owners thought 2 tables would look better then 6. We ended up sitting outside on something dusty in a completely under served courtyard. The paper cups are nice.
I love trying new coffee shops but when they are far far away from home, I would have to settle for buying their beans online and having them shipped to me. I knew I had to try Joshua tree coffee beans because their awesome reviews. But when I went to their website and wanted to order, they had a $10 shipping and handling fee (even for subscriptions) which seemed excessive, so I changed my mind placing an order. Couple of days later, I got an email from them that if there is anything that they can do for me to order. So I let them know that I refuse to pay the shipping. And then couple of days after that, I got an email that for a limited time they are waiving the S&H charge! I placed an order and received my order about 7 days later which I think it took a while. I have received coffee orders from ID and it has got to me much sooner. When I opened the bags, the beans look waxy. I don't know what the name is for that roasting process but I don't like it. Overall the beans taste good. If I am ever in Joshua tree area, I will for sure visit the cafe but I don't think I will order from them again anyime soon!
Stopped by around 7:40, partner found this place and didnt realize lower star ratings compared to surrounding coffee shops- but caveat being this is the only one open earlier. The rest open around 8am. The shop is cute on outside and inside- very simple no seating. Also no food offerings. They roast their own beans but does have a strong burnt smell. The person taking our order was very nice. They dont have matcha offerings so they suggested the chai and making it dirty. Got it with oatmilk. Forgot to adjust sweetness and ask what they sweeten with. My dirty chai with oatmilk was fine, maybe on the sweeter side. But hot enough. My partner got their drip, they only have light and dark.. no medium which he prefers. So they suggested the light. He likes his coffee really hot medium with tiny warmed milk. He said his coffee was not hot and watery :(

Stopped here on our way to Joshua Tree camping grounds. It was easy to spot, park, and there wasn't a long line when we got there. There were people constantly coming in and out so there's definitely plenty of foot traffic but it goes by quick. Their menu is small but they have all the essentials, you won't find sugary, sweet, drink concoctions here. Drinks seemed reasonably priced. I ordered a regular iced latte. It was ready in no time. It was a good cup of coffee, not too strong, a bit bitter, not too milky. Glad I tried this place and would stop by again on the next trip. The place is really cute. Clean, vibrant, friendly. They have cute merch available too. A bit pricy, but what isn't these days? I really love the colors in store, it's pastel, light, almost giving me easter/spring vibes.
Seth was such a positive addition to our stop at the coffee shop! He was full of humor, positivity, and great info about the area! He suggested his favorite drink there as we asked for a recommendation and it exceed our expectations. We also bought merch and spent some time on the patio. We enjoyed our experience so much we came back the next morning. We plan to go back to visit in March as well!
Such a cute coffee shop! The barista was super friendly, the coffee came out fast, and the whole vibe was adorable. I also loved the location -- easy parking nearby and surrounded by lots of cute souvenir shops to explore after. Their merch was so cute I couldn't leave without buying a sticker
Just tried this place for the first time and upon walking in to the shop I was greeted nicely by the staff, the menu itself it's anything "specialty" forward but the usual coffee items you can purchase at a cafe were available like cappuccino, latte, espresso, etc. the lady that assisted us let us know the "mocha" was the most popular menu item so we made sure to grab one of those and I also grabbed a "breve" iced coffee (12oz) with hazelnut. The coffee quality is delicious and I'll def be returning in the morning. Shop was very clean and taken care of.
a complete disappointment. This place feels extremely overhyped. We ordered two lattes, one with oat milk and two pumps of hazelnut syrup, and another regular milk latte with syrup as well. Both coffees were unbearably bitter and honestly hard to drink, even with added syrup. Maybe this place works for people who enjoy very strong, overly bitter coffee, but for us it was just unpleasant. Ended up feeling like a waste of money and left very disappointed. Also the service added to the disappointment. The cashier wasn't very attentive and still misspelled my simple FOUR-letter name, even though I spelled it out slowly and clearly letter by letter.
On our way to Jashua Tree National park we stopped by here to get coffee. The line was long but worth the wait. The coffee was delicious. It smelled so good. I wish they had pastries or croissants for sale. Since we were hungry and couldn't get any food items from here. Had to go somewhere else to get scones. Customer service was unfriendly, not sure cause they were so busy or what. Overall a great stop for delicious organic coffee if you want coffee only.
Cute little shop in the heart of Joshua tree! Expect long lines, I got a cold brew with oat milk and vanilla syrup and unfortunately the cold brew wasn't very strong, there was barely any oat milk, and far too much syrup it made it hard to drink :/ I'd stick to the lattes and coffee here! read more
a big let down! We had high hopes for this place given its decor and cute vibe. The line was also out the door so we decided to wait. We waited around 20 minutes. Prices were high but there isnt a lot of coffee places around so we figured we would splurge. We ordered 5 drinks and almost all of them had the same issue. TOO BITTER! I could already tell by looking at the color of my latte that the flavor would be off. Its WAY too dark and watery at the same time? I think the easy fix would be more milk... but after reading other reviews i think this is just their style of coffee... either way, i didnt like it! read more
I was very excited when I saw this cute little coffee shop! In fact, when I walked in the door, I said to my buddy: "THIS IS IT!" Nicely appointed, great colors, great graphics, great branding, all the right stuff! And when you see that nice roaster machine there you're like : "Damn, have I found NIRVANA CAFÉ in the desert?" NAH...... I think I would rename it: "BLACK BITTER WATER". I lifted that from the menu description of a cup of coffee in the '70s in Minneapolis at a funky kinda international hippie style café named: "MUD PIE" it stuck in my brain for the past 50 years. I digress, back to the new millennium. I thought: "Oh boy, I'm gonna get a "pour over" here-maybe some single origin? IE: Burundi, Ethiopia, Guatemala and such. NAH, no such luck, what I got was an over roasted BLACK BITTER WATER that was almost undrinkable! No "pour over" just the daily roast in an old school airpot thing. It was of the Ethiopian varietal but gave me false hope. The 1st cup was lukewarm so the very kind and lovely barista poured me a fresher cup from the next ready airpot. This is an adorable place but I know now that I should just get some sort of espresso drink made fresh and that's what I'll try next time. Incredibly great aesthetic, beautifully designed to-go cups, great color, great graphics, super cool! I'm not certain if the pizza place next-door is sharing the outdoor seating, but that's where we sat because they weren't open yet-possibly the same owners? Maybe there's not enough traffic to do "pour overs" are they are too labor intensive but that's the only way in my opinion to enjoy a cup of brewed coffee. So, my suggestion is: DO NOT get the brewed coffee, get something special ordered- but, DO go there because it's very cute and the staff was very nice. read more

Adorable coffee shop! Everything pink, my fave! Super busy location and friendly service. Ordered their vanilla iced latte, they did forewarn me about the 4 shots of espresso it comes with and had to cut back to two. Really good drink definitely recommend stopping by! read more

Stopped here for some much needed coffee earlier today. They have cute merch on the right side after you walk in. We ended up getting a bag of The First Roast coffee beans ($17) and a t-shirt ($22.99). For coffee, we both got an iced vanilla latte. My bf got the 16oz, which came with 4 shots of espresso. I took a sip and it was a little bit too much for me. The 12oz was perfect for me. Just what I needed for a little caffeine boost. Overall, good coffee and friendly staff. read more

This place is quite popular and took a while to get through the line. Yet, when we got to the front the service was great and we ordered a bag of the Ethiopian coffee to take home because the wait was way too long. Every day this week I've been grinding my beans and using it with a French press and I feel like I'm in a wonderful coffee shop having a latte at home with my coffee that I made from Joshua tree. I can't wait for another trip back to bring home some fresh grinds so kuddos to the quality. This would make a great gift for anyone. read more

Really enjoyed my dirty iced chai latte this morning. Parking was extremely easy since it's on a main road with other shops. Loved their merch section. They had cool mugs, t-shirts and other trinkets. I ended up buying a Joshua tree pin. They had all of the milk alternatives and my drink came out quickly. After my first sip I immediately started to nod my head because YUP this dirty chai was hitting the spot. It's the perfect ratio and the 2 shots of espresso was exactly what I needed. And the prices were average coffee shop pricing. Highly recommend stopping by a Joshua tree coffee company if you're in the area. read more
I'm in shock. Utter coffee shock. I visited Joshua Tree for the first time & I figured this was the coffee shop to go to. I didn't actually do any research about the local coffee shops & I landed here. It was a Sunday at 11am and the line was OUTSIDE the door. It was packed in here. Also my internet would not work inside of this coffee shop which was frustrating because I couldn't get the menu online-- mind you they offer wifi but you have to ask them to show you the password... which I've attached :) I ended up ordering an iced latte with hazelnut flavoring. ..... One sip & I quite literally said "this is the worst coffee I have ever had" it tasted exactly like burnt coffee grounds in liquid form. Absolutely horrific. I've been to my fair share of coffee shops and NEVER had such a strong, robust, burnt taste. I couldn't tolerate any of it. I ended up tossing it. Mind you, I paid for 2 drinks and tipped and it came out to $14.50. Just for me to throw out my coffee. It was so incredibly busy and chaotic it wasn't worth being THAT person and asking for a remake. The customer service was good, the cashier was friendly and answered our questions in a kind manner despite the long centipede of a line. Parking is limited with someone in front or on the side street on the dirt. Unfortunately this really left a BURNT taste in my mouth that I'd rather try one of the other coffee shops. read more
Super cute swag sold inside however, the wait can't be a lot and they only had one person working. There are parking spaces right out front. The milk was steamed pretty perfectly for my mocha but the flavor was highly intense. Not sure if it was an espresso dial issue or if the beans were just burnt but I didn't end up drinking my drink. read more
The coffee here is phenomenal! I always bring home a couple of pounds of their whole beans for myself, friends, and family. They make an ideal gift, as everything is roasted here in the house. You can taste the quality and care of their ingredients, the service is always wonderful. Highly recommend recommended if you're looking for some great coffee in Joshua tree! read more
2.3 stars I really wanted to like this place, but, unfortunately, their branding is stronger than their coffee. Speaking of branding, who doesn't love the color pink & yucca trees on everything? Their mugs, their shirts and pins are all very cute, but the price of their coffee is the least cutest thing. The smallest cup of vanilla latte sub oatmilk turned out to be $7.45 after tax. I think it's only 12 oz. The coffee had a sharp, bitter note that hits the back of the throat. Unfortunately, I will not be back.... read more
Yum. Love supporting local coffee shops and glad to have Joshua Tree Coffee Company as an option while in town. The menu is pretty simple (I was hoping for an iced coffee with cold foam) but the iced vanilla latte was a great alternative. I ordered a medium which ran about $6 and, happily admit, that I returned later in the day to purchase a large. Suspect that I'll be back a time or two whenever I'm in the area. Parking is pretty easy right in front and on the side of the building as well. read more
Line was out the door so it's a must-go here if you're in the area! It's located on the main streets of Joshua Tree. I ordered my chai tea latte with less milk. It was good and not too milky- perfect for my taste! It was a long line but the drinks were ready extremely quick! read more
Decent organic coffee, with room for improvement (3.5/5 Green Stars) I didn't make it inside, but I heard that it's lovely. The coffee that I tried (made at home) was good - I had the Mellow Ethiopian (light roast) and The First Roast (medium/dark roast blend of Colombian, Honduran and Ethiopian beans). I would say go for the Mellow Ethiopian if choosing between the two, depending on your roast preference. Even if you don't make it to the café, you'll find their coffee all over the region - The Dez and the Frontier Café, for example (both excellent places with lots of veggie options). I'm giving Joshua Tree Coffee 3.5/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * All beans are certified organic. This is one of the best certifications to look out for if you want to buy coffee that has a lower environmental impact. It's not as good as shade-grown - the Smithsonian's Bird-friendly certification requires that beans are both organic and shade-grown. * A write-up in the LA Times from 2014 mentions that some beans were fair trade certified. However, none of the beans currently on sale are fair trade certified. This is unfortunate - for beans that sell for $18-22 per 12 oz. ($24-29 per lb.) I'd expect either fair trade certified or some reputable direct trade relationships. * There's surprisingly little on the website about coffee sourcing. At the moment there's one single-origin coffee (Sulawesi Sunrise) with a short blurb based on the green coffee supplier's blurb. * The blog only contains one blog post, targeting Bulletproof Coffee - I was hoping for more detail on the company and the beans. * It's great that they have committed to organic beans for all products but there are two areas for improvement: * One: Improving their social impact by sourcing some fair trade beans or developing an equitable direct trade relationship with some farmers. * Two: This is less critical, but it would be nice to see them use compostable packaging. * They are very well marketed beans, with a nice Joshua tree logo on the package but there is definitely room for improvement on both the social and environmental fronts. As the company has grown in size they have dropped the fair trade standard that was once touted in the LA Times article that helped them rise to prominence. * Compare their beans to mission-driven companies like Counter Culture that publish prices paid directly to farmers for green coffee and also use compostable packaging. read more
The place is super cute, but the coffee....honestly pretty awful! I ordered a plain iced latte and my friend ordered a vanilla iced latte. Mine had the most bitter, burnt taste I have ever tried. I thought maybe it was just me and I should have added a sweetener, but even after trying my friend's latte the burnt aftertaste was unbearable! Pretty looking coffee, kinda mid. We make our own coffee at home, so it's hard to buy coffee outside & not judge... I ordered a basic iced vanilla oat milk latte. For the pros: They were super quick, got my order shortly after they took down my name for the order. The sweetener they use was great and sweet enough not too sweet & they use minor figures oat milk, quality & yummy. Now for the espresso itself, dark roast meh... the taste of it was burnt... I thought overall the coffee was good/decent, but that burnt taste was definitely there. I do have to say, the coffee had me zooted! But also I didn't eat before having it so I can't say the coffee would be THAT strong. It was nice we came on a Saturday morning and there was not much of a line, we were second in line and the line followed behind us but not out the door. This was probably around 8-9 in the morning. But just across the street from the farmer market they have on Saturday. Parking is street parking and there's also a small lot on the left side if ur facing the shop. If you just need a quick coffee fix, sure. But if you're looking for good not burnt tasting coffee, I'd probably go somewhere else. read more

Small coffee shop had a pretty big line but it moved fast. My friends and I came here and everyone said the Coffee was okay, they had packaged cookie options & some Joshua tree mugs for sale on the side. I got a snickerdoodle cookie which was okay. And the service was also just okay. Wanted to add a tea and was asking which teas they had and she seemed so annoyed that I was asking about teas and she said "honestly there not that good and I don't like tea, I drink coffee" not sure if she was just having a bad day but felt rude so just let the rest of our party order and got the cookie only for myself. read more

This coffee shop was located in the middle of downtown area. There was a lot of people here since I think everyone who visits Joshua tree makes a stop to go eat or check out the stores nearby. Seating was only outdoors but very cute vibes and spacious. The restroom was very clean which I was impressed. I just got a regular latte and my friend got a cold brew. The coffee notes were acidic which I'm not a fan of but it's preference. It was pretty pricey for the size and I got a medium. read more

Great location! During my recent weeks long stay in JT this was a staple. The line can either be wrapped around the corner or quick walk-in and order. Pleasant, swift service. Coffee was pretty good both cold & hot; even bought a specialty blend bean to take home. Roasted in-house with bags of several blends available for purchase along with other merch. Outdoor seating on the rear patio. read more
