I stopped by Mas o Menos before heading back to LA and there was a pretty long line, and everyone seemed like they were from LA, so it felt kind of touristy. Their special of the day was a banana latte and I could taste the slightest hint of banana but my friends tried it and said they didn't taste it at all. I also ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on focaccia bread. The bread is made from pizza dough, so it was doughy in the best way. However, I didn't taste much bacon or cheese and got mostly egg. It was a pretty mediocre sandwich. Despite the food, it's a really cool spot. It has a great interior and excellent outdoor seating with a photo booth and pop-up bagels.

If you're in Joshua Tree I DEFINITELY recommend coming here whether it's for coffee/matcha or cocktails! The staff and vibes are both very welcoming and it feels like a vacation here! It also makes for great photos and you can take a photobooth pic too! Their matcha was a bit milky but still great!

This coffee shop was such a cute vibe! It had a cute patio area along with a photo booth. If we got the chance it would've been nice to visit during the cocktail hours because their matcha lemonade was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and the matcha flavor really pulled through with the lemonade. I also got an espresso shot over ice which was a little sour but it was very busy so i'll give it some leeway. Service was quick and efficient as it had a line out the door. would love to come visit again.

The people here at más o menos are so kind! My boyfriend and I stopped by on the way home from our trip to get some coffee and food. I got my usual, an espresso tonic, which I'd give a personal food rating of 9/10! It was a Friday afternoon and it was a little busy so we didn't get to use the photo booth but hope to come back soon to check it out. This is a great place with ample seating inside and outside to get a coffee break. Everything looks so aesthetic. Will be back soon!

I fell for the hype. This place is cute, I will say that part is enticing. I went online and saw this place had many great reviews. I personally think the wait for the coffee wasn't really worth the price or taste. I got an espresso martini and for it being a coffee shop I really wasn't too impressed. I mainly went here because my husband is an avid coffee enthusiast and he also wasn't really into his drink. This place is cute for photo ops and my favorite part was probably the Photo Booth outside. Great place to mark of the bucket list as far as presentation it's a beautiful spot but if I come back maybe I'll have to ask what their best drink on the menu is. Overall the staff if great, friendly and we got our drinks pretty quick once we ordered.

Came here for breakfast. Loved the banana latte. The breakfast was good too. It's advertised as grab and go but took longer than expected.

Great cocktails and a vibey place full of influences but the brunch food leave much more to be desired. Recommend going here in the evening or if there is an event going on. I ended up getting a Bloody Maria that was great but their Italian Sandwich was dry and just very plain. The breakfast burrito is decent though with soyrizo and scrambled eggs. Lots of parking and off the main highway here.

The cutest stop on the way to Joshua Tree!!! Took a trip last weekend to Joshua Tree and I never fail to be on the hunt for matcha. Especially good matcha. My friend picked a random spot on maps to try and we were pleased as it was our first stop before entering the park. The parking was simple and it was easy to find since it was in the middle of the desert, it wasn't overly busy when we got there but filled up by the time we left which was around noon! If you love to take aesthetic pictures, have a cocktail or a matcha, make sure to stop on your way there or back. They have the cutest vibe inside and out, a back patio with options to be shaded or not, a super cute bathroom and a Photo Booth!! The strips are $6/2 and I was able to add in some banana bread syrup to my matcha which made me enjoy it even more. We didn't get a chance to sit at the bar since it wasn't what we were going for before a hike but I'd come back just to get a drink. It is 21+ and there was a mix of people dressed super cute and aesthetic but also some hikers like myself who just wanted a quick coffee!

we went on my birthday and the person in front of me got the last pop up pizza, the vibes were great, it was a nice night but we were so hungry so we left and came back the next day for coffee- the people watching is amazing and it was the best iced latte of the trip.

This is such a beautiful café! We really enjoyed our matches, the rosemary sage lemonade was also outstanding! The menu sounds so delicious, I want to try every single thing! This will be our new stop every time we are in the Joshua Tree area as it was exactly our vibe. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and I loved the indoor as well as outdoor seating and easy parking. I will have to try their food next time because it looks amazing! Highly recommended if you are looking for a healthy and delicious treat in the area!

The cutest cafe in Joshua Tree! Not only do they serve coffee and matcha, but also cocktails! The line was long when we went but it moves pretty fast. I ordered an iced matcha latte with lavender syrup and it was so sweet and refreshing.

We stopped by Más o Menos while we were in the area, as we wanted to check out their breakfast options - unfortunately, nothing was updated and we were told when we got there that the chef who makes the food is out for a week or so... The only options were drinks, so we decided to try their mocktails: +the Pineapple Habanero Marg - prepared with NA agave spirit, pineapple, lime, and habanero bitters +and, the Virgin Paloma - prepared with NA gave spirit, lime, grapefruit, and honey Unfortunately, the drinks were just not great - they both tasted the same, with one having a slight 'kick'. Staff were friendly, and the space is bright and airy. Parking is available in their dirt/gravel lot. +unimpressive mocktails +parking available

Post hike, I was in need of a pick me up. I didn't realize this place was social media famous, haha. They have amazing views and a chill dessert aesthetic. I read that they had a happy hour and I went in expecting a coffee happy hour, LOL. Come to find out, they also have a alcohol bar... with cocktails and beer. It's not an extensive bar menu but there's definitely options to enjoy a drink or two. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Depending on the weather, it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the views. There is also a photo booth in the back, there was always someone in it. When we first arrived we got an iced latte. We wanted to intake the vibe of the place. We sat towards the front, and it was quieter there, minus the people walking in and out. Then we moved outdoors to check out the seating there. It was chilly and windy this day so we didn't stay outdoors long. Eventually we made our way back inside and sat by the bar. The people seating next to us were having a work meeting, so it's definitely a nice place to meet up with someone or just get some work done. Service was hit or miss. When we initially ordered drinks, we were greeted, everything was inviting and friendly. We got drinks a second time and the service (different person) was definitely less friendly. Our drinks were delicious. Solid latte. Matcha was good too. They have a few mocktails that sounded interesting. I would come back here and this time be better prepared for the happy hour menu, haha.

Okay, being totally honest, this wasn't the absolute best food of our entire Joshua Tree-Palm…read moreSprings trip, but a close 2nd. BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

I had the 12 Pony Wings, 1/2 buffalo sauce and 1/2 lemon pepper. With celery and blue cheese dressing. Very good. Flash fried, not battered, the way I prefer them. They were hot and cooked all the way through but not overcooked. Service was great and I wish I remembered the name of our server but I don't. We'll be back.

I wanted to clink glasses with locals who could tell me about the fun and flaw of growing up in a small town. And I figured that local dive bars would allow me to check off my hopes. Plus, the word on the street was that the Virginian was a local haunt for marines. I wanted to party with marines. Spoiler alert: I did--and it added an extra layer of crisp and pop to my night. On my first night, I went there, by my lonesome, and I was surprised to know that it was a cash-only establishment. This worked to my favor because I did not want to drink too much and then go to my hotel. I did not aim to get a DUI, I just wanted to have fun. When I go alone to a bar, I have a primary objective: to find friends to drink with and talk to. Especially on vacation, I wanted to find an experience that would lead me to a "hangover-like night." I know it might be impossible, for sure, but that does not impede me from trying. And when one tries, one might be successful. I was. I went to put my name on the chalkboard to eventually play pool. I gathered around the others who were waiting for pool. I quickly made friends with a marine. He was not the marine I had my eye on, but he was the one who entertained my advances. Soon after, we went to the bar to get him a drink. One for me too. We were getting shots. The wait was long-loving for it gave him and me the opportunity to connect. Let's call him Lalo. He told me about life as a marine. I told him about my life. He told me that he had found a girl--now his fiancée--on an app called Chispa. Basically, a dating app for Latinx people. I did not think he had found a fiancée, but rather a person he could fall in love with. He was young, you see, and love for marriage seems to be a long game best played by those who are at least in their mid-twenties. Regardless, I will root for those two crazy kids. As we drank and grew closer, Lalo and I just became friendlier and friendlier, which led to friendly hugs. On one particular long and gripping hug, I uttered, "This feels so nice, Lalo." His reply was, "I am glad, Frankie, I am glad." My chosen name is Frankie. His words comforted me because they sounded sincere, and words I had not heard before, within this context. Here in the middle of a desert, I had found comfort in the arms of a marine. I never thought I would, but like I said, I tried, and I was happy to be successful. Soon one of his friends came and requested to leave. Lalo did. I was irked. I wanted him to stay with me for a few more drinks at the Virginian. It did not happen. I got lucky, but my luck did not extend the night. But I did get lucky the next night. I went again after my day at Joshua Tree. It was a Saturday night. The place was full but not so full that it was overwhelming. I saw three young men sitting. There was a stool next to one. They had the build and essence of marines. So, I sat next to one. And again, I made a quick friend. He was from South Dakota. I can't remember his name, so let's call him James. James introduced me to his two friends. One was from the same town I grew up in. Happy coincidence. James and I spoke. He was kind enough to get me a glass of water. The service of the armed forces rings high and small. They were taking shots, one after the other, without restraint. One of James's friends stepped outside and puked. The bartender reprimanded them. He gave them a mop to clean their own mess. Wow, this would not happen in an LA bar, I thought. The marines were put to work. James took the mop and finished for his friend. The bartender inspected the mess and green-lit for them to go. Again, I wanted a marine to stay for my own selfish needs. He did not. He grew and gave me a smile as he went. This bar is a local haunt, but great for visitors. So, if you go to Joshua Tree or a nearby town, don't be shy and stop in here for local color. I got to see small-town vibes at play. It was great, and I met my own personal goal of partying with marines. The Virginian may not be sophisticated, but it is a place to have fun and engage in a way that feels homey yet exciting. Please remember it is cash only but it has ATMs. If you use credit cards, to get by at times, then skip this place.

Nicely appointed, great colors, great graphics, great branding, all the right stuff! And when you see that nice roaster machine there you're like : "Damn, have I found NIRVANA CAFÉ in the desert?" NAH...... I think I would rename it: "BLACK BITTER WATER". I lifted that from the menu description of a cup of coffee in the '70s in Minneapolis at a funky kinda international hippie style café named: "MUD PIE" it stuck in my brain for the past 50 years. I digress, back to the new millennium. I thought: "Oh boy, I'm gonna get a "pour over" here-maybe some single origin? IE: Burundi, Ethiopia, Guatemala and such. NAH, no such luck, what I got was an over roasted BLACK BITTER WATER that was almost undrinkable! No "pour over" just the daily roast in an old school airpot thing. It was of the Ethiopian varietal but gave me false hope. The 1st cup was lukewarm so the very kind and lovely barista poured me a fresher cup from the next ready airpot. This is an adorable place but I know now that I should just get some sort of espresso drink made fresh and that's what I'll try next time. Incredibly great aesthetic, beautifully designed to-go cups, great color, great graphics, super cool! I'm not certain if the pizza place next-door is sharing the outdoor seating, but that's where we sat because they weren't open yet-possibly the same owners? Maybe there's not enough traffic to do "pour overs" are they are too labor intensive but that's the only way in my opinion to enjoy a cup of brewed coffee. So, my suggestion is: DO NOT get the brewed coffee, get something special ordered- but, DO go there because it's very cute and the staff was very nice.
