We grabbed coffee and sandwiches here on our way to the airport from Joshua Tree. The service was quick and there was a lot of seating for smaller and large groups. There's also a little outside patio and the cafe is connected to 2 little shops.

Came down from LA for a quick trip and was able to try this coffee shop out! The atmosphere was nice and it was a huge area that allows people to eat their breakfast and drink their coffee without being confined to a small space like how some coffee shops are back home. The service was quick for us ordering 4 drinks. The espresso pulls weren't too sour and the coffee wasn't too overly sweet. I did try their maple banana cold foam but it basically sunk to the bottom before I could try it individually. Overall decent coffee sho would go again if i'm in the area.

The flavors for lattes were so good! I had the salted maple latte with banana cold foam and I LOVED it. I wish I could go back for that any time! I also loved my fruit and yogurt parfait no matter how simple it was; the yogurt was especially thick and exactly what I wanted. The rest of the group had some good bagels and sandwiches. The wait was not too long for how many people there was there that Sunday. We also were able to grab a table for the six of us. Cool people work there too!

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon just before heading over to Joshua Tree. There's plenty of free street parking nearby and on the side streets. Definitely anticipate a wait on weekends; we were fortunate to not have a big line when we came in but after we ordered there was a huge line that formed. The cashier was friendly and while there's a lot of indoor seating; it can definitely fill up quick so don't count on it. Tuna Melt 4/5, this was super fresh and a good big meal to get started before hiking!

This place was suggested by chat as a good place to work. And it was! It is spacious inside and the workers r very chill no one rushing u.. alot of people here r here to stay and work or chat. The food menu looks good but already had lunch but ordered a oatmilk matcha latte with the special salted maple banana cold foam. The matcha was weak and cold foam not that foamy.. but at least not too sweet. Just wanted to get something to support the business anyhow. They have alot of outlets and internet so def a good place to come to work if ur stopping by passing by or in the Yucca Valley area!

Frontier cafe is a conveniently located cafe on 29 Palms Hwy with your standard cafe fare as well as some gluten free and vegan options. I came here for an iced coffee on the way back home to LA. The cafe is large with lots of room to study, read, play board games, etc. I didn't get any food but they had lots of sandwich and salad options. Service was pretty standard. The decor had rustic charm. There are some vintage stores next door. We happened to find street parking but I'm not sure if they have their own lot.

Sausage, Egg, and Cheddar: 4/5 This was a great deal. It tasted like a sandwich you could make at home in the best possible way. I really like veggie sausage patties, so brace for it since it's the main protein. The mayo they use was tasty and did not overpower the sandwich. I loved the very small salad of arugula on the side, a great way to brighten a normally very heavy breakfast. Americano: 4.5/5 Strong, dark, and not acidic. My perfect Americano. If you like something with lots of complexity, especially fruity notes, you may not like this. Tempeh Bacon: 3/5 This was a side order and they give you a good amount! It was very smoky, maybe a little too much liquid smoke, and salty. While I know it is trying to emulate bacon, it wasn't crispy at all. It was just kind of wet and salty, mot my favorite. It was very tasty crumbling it into the potato salad though, I would recommend doing that. Potato Salad: 3/5 Flavor was decent and very traditional. I'm not a big fan of celery so I was glad this did not have any. The dressing tasted fine, but it was strangely separating/curdled. Also, the potatoes tasted old, you know when they get kind of leathery and shriveled from being in the fridge for too long. Ambiance: Casual. It has a desert hipster kind of vibe. Service: The staff was nice but food came out painfully slow. We waited for almost 20 minutes for a sandwich. Parking: Street parking on a wide street.

So good, we came twice. Jacki and I had breakfast here two days in a row. The tuna melt & the blt + an egg on sourdough were a perfect mix to split. We loved the coffee, outdoor seating and energy all around. It's super cute inside too with delicious food, great service, and on a fun street with tons of awesome stores.

Delicious food! My friends and I looked for a place to eat on a whim and we came across this place on Yelp! Fantastic food, cute store vibe, and close to a lot of vintage stores and gift shops! It was very close to our Airbnb and Pioneertown. The food took a bit of time to come out but it was quite busy on a Friday morning. Cute, rustic cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Found parking in their lot, but there is also nearby street parking. My boyfriend really liked the white mocha. I got a latte with pistachio and thought it was ok. Expect a long line on the weekend - it probably took us ~20 minutes to get a coffee Saturday morning.

I love the variety of options at this spot! So healthy and delicious! Staff were friendly and helpful with what to choose since this was my first time here. The egg sandwhich I got was yummy and fulfilling.

Busy but spacious spot with filling food (4/5 Green Stars) I arrived at what was probably close to peak time - around 10 AM on Sunday. The line was quite long and the food took a good while to arrive. I would have been wondering if it was forgotten except that I could see that everyone's food was taking around 15 mins to come out. I didn't mind - I had my coffee and excellent people-watching entertainment. The clientele ranges from locals in cowboy gear, rainbow gear, or tats and baseball hats, to tourists, UCLA hotties in faux fur, and geeks on laptops (that's me). The contrast is pretty funny. I appreciated that the server at the counter took a minute to explain that they only use veggie sausage in their sandwiches so there's no chance of a mix-up. My breakfast sandwich (veggie sausage, egg, and cheddar) was very filling and the side of veggie bacon (seitan) was tasty but salty. (Pro-tip: take some veggie bacon for your hike as salty snacks are good to replenish your electrolytes). The coffee was just okay - I just had a drip and it seemed over-roasted to me (I've heard others say this about beans from Joshua Tree Coffee). A medium/light toast would be better, in my opinion. Prices are reasonable and there's a nice mix of cool inside seating and sun or shade outside. Props to the friendly staff. I'm giving the Frontier Café 4.5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * A large amount of the menu is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. * It's actually a genius move to just replace regular sausage with veggie version and make that standard in the breakfast sandwich. It's an excellent way to show people who might otherwise never try the veggie option, that meat substitutes are pretty good these days. * Cool homemade items like vegan bacon (seitan) and vegan cookies. * Coffee beans are organic - from Joshua Tree Coffee, I believe, since they sell their beans there too. JT coffee is above-average in terms of environmental impact. * Food is served in compostable trays. * I like the little details like fair trade certified sugar and the interesting United Sodas drinks for sale. * Inclusive place that feels welcoming to everyone and, through this, brings people together. * Room for improvement: ditch the beef. It has much larger environmental footprints than other meats.

The turkey, while good, wasn't freshly carved, which took a little away from the "special" feel. And while the breakfast sando was light and all alone on the plate, the way the mayo fused the flavors together was delicious. But I do wish the beverage fridge had prices listed so I wasn't surprised at the register. The restaurant, while it's a bit tricky to find on the side of a building, inside is a modern space. It's spotless and very clean. The aesthetic is minimalist and if it were just you, it could feel a bit cold, if not for the steady buzz of activity behind the counter. There were three staff members who moved swiftly. As I watched I was impressed with their efficiency as the kept things running smoothly. When we entered an hour before closing, we made the mistake to sit and pause to look over the menu. It was a mistake because it seemed like the front door kept swinging open as wave after wave of hungry visitors poured in. My guess is these folks were all returning from Joshua Tree National Park. In fact, it felt like nearly everyone there had just come from the park. The business concept appears thoughtfully geared toward travelers, particularly those with a bit of disposable income and a discerning palate. Overall, this is a certified foodie stop: quality over quantity: taste over filling up.

It's located in a small plaza but parking was easy to find. First entering there r alot of food goodies sold including take away sides/meals. Looks crowded but no one ordering. There was an influx of people past 11am but the line moves so fast! I asked what was their most popular breakfast sandwich and the dyed red haired girl at the cash register said the turkey club sandwich. I dont like bacon so she suggested they remove that and sub avocado so i went with it! And also got the matcha hot with oatmilk. Partner ordered tuna melt and drip coffee. They give u a buzzer tho they ended up delivering it to our table. The cashier was really nice and entertained all my questions about the sandwiches and how they prepared their matcha. (It's not the matcha powder with the sugar already in it, whew! It tasted pretty ceremonial but not sure if it was- added one pack of sugar and sweetness was perfect for me. Just a tad grainy but overall very nice!) Sandwiches were delivered to where we were sitting after 10-15 mins or so. They are huge! And wow i dont normally order sandwiches these days bc i find the meats questionable and not pleasant to eat but this sandwich tasted so fresh. The meat and cheese.. the veggies.. the sourdough bread was cherry in top, nicely toasted with some butter or sauce. I took a half home and it was still tasted good a few hours later. I like how they add chips and the avocado on the side where i can dip the chips and put on my sandwich. My sandwich tasted so fresh with quality ingredients which im so happy about! My partner also enjoyed his tuna melt and coffee.. he said it was huge as each side of the tuna melt had a huge scoop of the tuna salad. ANYWAY. We have been here a couple of times - will usually stop by here when we're in Joshua Tree. On Saturdays, there is a Farmer's Market in the parking lot, so it gets pretty crowded. This last time we went, I got an iced strawberry matcha, and my partner got the chai iced tea. Both with almond milk. They still charge a surplus for non-dairy, which feels so 2022. But anyway. The drinks were delicious. We also got an almond croissant, which doesn't look like much, but it was AMAZING. And then the quiches. Oh, the quiches. I had such high hopes for these, especially since we were primed with refreshing drinks and a tasty pastry. These quiches are muffin-sized, perfect for a light meal or a heavier snack, and they look super cute. They will heat them up for you. When we went, they had bacon cheddar and spinach feta. We got one of each. My friends, these were so disappointing. First, no flavor. We asked for ketchup or hot sauce to give it a bit of acid, because it was basically egg all the way through. Solid wall of egg that tasted like the powdered egg you get at one of those corporate conference catered breakfasts. I had one tiny sliver of bacon in mine, and my partner was playing hide and seek with the spinach, and the spinach was winning. The crust itself was rubbery and chewy, not flaky like I would expect a quiche to be. I mean, it was palatable and not super expensive. I'm just not sure if you're selling food, you want it to just be "palatable". Last time, we got a savory veggie pie, and that was pretty good, so they DO have good savory foods. I think the quiches were just a huge miss this time. Bathroom is clean and single-stalled. Parking is easy in the lot, and on Farmer's Market days, I mean, c'mon, it's Joshua Tree, it's not like there isn't space on the streets too.

BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. The jalapeño ranch was expected to have somewhat of a kick but was more of a love tap. Imo, the crispy potato chips were a nice touch. Pretzel balls - excited for pretzels and cheese, the plate arrives at the table looking more like falafel than pretzels, they taseted burnt. The cheese they come with however, SPOT ON! They were so nice to us and doubly nice to our dog! We ordered fried eggplant, gazpacho, ceviche, a lamb burger, and got a lamb burger patty for the dog (we're not order food for the dog people but she was going through it too with the Walmart stuff so why not). We added a couple glasses of wine and their beer shandy and finished with a strawberry shortcake. Every bite was perfect but we rated them- Gazpacho, Lamb Burger, Eggplant, Ceviche. The gazpacho was a hit with the perfect amount of fresh/sweet cantaloupe and spicy-ness. This place was well worth the trip from Big Bear. My wife noted that everyone there that helped us legit looked happy to be there. There was also a medical emergency and the staff was so kind and helpful throughout and checked in on all the tables in the area afterwards. It kind of showed that they are invested in the people that visit.

What fun! This was a neat little place a bit of a ways from where we were staying in Joshua Tree…read more I've seen the name bounced around, and a couple friends had mentioned it. We got really lucky - reservations open a month in advance, and we were headed to Joshua Tree the next day. I thought for sure I wasn't going to get a reservation and needed to think of a Plan B for date night. But I texted anyway, with an apology for it being so last minute, and they responded the day of confirming me for the next day! Yay! When we arrived, we asked for a seat inside, since it was super windy that day, and they were able to seat us within a few minutes. We got the butter lettuce salad (delicious), the socarrat (lots of peas and pea sprouts - this was AMAZING, and great the next day cold!), their version of bruschetta on their crispy thin bread - the bread was absolutely amazing. And we also got the tomato...um, I can't remember what it's called, but it has a base of sliced tomatoes, with hard boiled eggs, celery, and tuna aioli! Super refreshing on a super hot day. We also got a couple non-alcky drinks and left very happy. It was loud inside for sure - or, bustling, if we want to be more euphemistic. Service for us was a bit on the chilly side, but that might just be the night our server was having. There are 2 single-stalled bathrooms, and parking is very easy in the huge lot they have. I think we might circle back to this place after trying other eats around the area. This was a good time.
