Stark place- limited menu. Nostalgic yellow chairs and tables that look like they came from an original "WINCHELL'S" donut shop? A very cordial, pleasant, and kind young lady working there just the other day. A surprisingly lovely glazed donut I might say. But I kept looking around there thinking "in a small town like this how can they even sell enough donuts to keep this joint open but they obviously do". I could think of some simple things that could be added, but I wouldn't want to give away my secrets. All throughout the United States there are donut shops that have the same recipe apparently, not sure how that works? A lot of them are Asian run in the San Francisco area. I always laughed at the signs that would say "Donuts and Chinese Food" before walking in I would always say to myself: "Nothing like a good egg fu yung jelly doughnut"! Yeah, this spot could use a little more hipness for just spending a few dollars on some paint and artwork, etc. there would probably be a line more often. I don't know. I wasn't there on a weekend. Also, the beautiful new laundromat or remodeled laundromat next-door should really be a good revenue source for the hungry laundry goer....... But certainly grab a doughnut. They're very tasty. So keep heading up the road a bit to Joshua Tree as there are many cute little shops in the three block area there which I guess is called downtown Joshua Tree? I really dig all the new modern prefabs that are popping up which appeared to be primarily Airbnb joints(?)- a lot of style man! Yeah, I'll be back. This place could be so much h better, but it wasn't half bad. The cashier was kind, welcoming and friendly I had a blueberry donut with a granulated sugar coat. At 2 bucks and change it was just fine and a fair value. Glass case and pink boxes, you would think that's charming, it's not. The decor is firmly stuck in the 70s but not in that mid century stylish way. The laundromat nexr store was freshened and modernized recently. Some thought and about 15k could offer much needed updates. Don't change your cashier though, she was wonderful. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I checked the hours online before driving over, and it clearly said they were open until 3:00 PM. I arrived at 2:05 PM, the door was open, lights on, and the cases were still full of donuts. As soon as we walked in, the woman behind the counter yelled at us, "We're closed!" When I politely told her their posted hours say 3 PM, she snapped back, "I said we were closed, get out of my store." I walked away and could still hear her yelling something at my husband and I. I have never been treated so rudely by a business. If you're going to close early, update your hours -- and don't scream at customers who simply walked in during your posted business time. First time here. All donuts are individually priced they do not have special pricing for a dozen donuts. They charge .75 cents for credit card purchases below $10. She was right. O, The yumminess. The sweetened condensed milk. The Thai spices. The rich deliciousness. I like my Thai tea over ice. My cousin likes hers with no ice and with tons of whipped cream. I have been going to Jelly donut for years on occasion. And last weekend I bought 3 of their ham and cheese croissants. 2 of them had no ham or cheese in them. $5.50/ea. I returned this morning and wanted another croissant plus some other donuts. I mentioned that 2 of my croissants from the week before had no ham or cheese inside. All she said was "sorry". And continued to ring me up for my current order. I was expecting at least some type of compensation even a buck off of my current order would have shown that she cared. Instead she started shouting out loud to all in her shop, "you just want a discount" , "get out". I thought, "wow". Obviously, this was an owner in distress. I had never seen her in the shop before, but I know now that if she doesn't care about keeping a customer happy, then why would she care about how the donuts or croissants are being made or what is inside them. Small-town donut shop with the softest, fluffiest donuts! Although the shop appears fairly standard, I was really impressed with the quality of the donuts, which you don't find in many places. I swear, I gobbled the chocolate glazed bar in about 5 seconds because it was so good--like biting into a pillow. Prices are reasonable and you can even get a dozen donut holes for less than $2. This place is awesome. We tried some bakery/sandwich place down the street one Saturday morning but it was really busy and slow so we opted for The Jelly. Wow. GREAT donuts. I loved jelly donuts usually for the filling but the donut itself here was really good. We got a nice selection and enjoyed them all. They also have pho menu (with hilarious names) and tacos (crazy huh!?) and several people ordered those while we ate our donuts. Must have been good!! Let me start with a question I asked the community, but was disrespected with someone reporting said question. I asked if the donuts were any better than 5 years or so ago because when we went in back then, the donuts were terribly hard and heavy, inedible. Yelp is not a fair review site if we cannot offer true statements of our experiences, good and bad, so just take reviews with a grain of salt, please. Didn't find any snowflake pastries in there, but let me tell you about our experience this weekend. This Jelly Donut was a happening place, very busy...this is a good sign. The young lady working the counter was a pro with great attitude and customer service, we were ordering and out in just a few minutes- pleasant experience. Now, we just couldn't wait, so ate a donut in the truck, ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! So, in closing, I took the risk in order to answer my own (now removed) question, the donuts ARE DELICIOUS. It seemed like every single friggin' review about Joshua Tree recommended trying this donut shop, so we decided to make the stop try this place for ourselves! Sadly, we didn't make it in time to try the Apple Fritters... the owner had already run out by 11AM. We had to settle for chocolate and maple bar donuts which were your oh-so-regular... meh... standard...run of the mill....donuts. We chomped on our bars, frowning because missed out those gosh darn Apple Fritters. My recommendation to the business owners: make more Apple Fritters so us weary travelers can find solace in the deep-fried goodness on our journey to see those crazy trees and kooky cacti! We saw this place on our way into town and after getting up ridiculously early due to being in an unfamiliar place we decided to try this place. We ordered 2 chocolate bars, a cinnamon twist, some square donut that had chocolate frosting with chocolate chips and chocolate inside it, an apple fritter and a rectangular donut with raspberry filling (it is not closed all the way so the filling is out the top, not squeezed in the sides like a traditional jelly filled, I don't know how else to describe it). The donuts were ok. Nothing terrible but nothing amazing. Since I was here at 6:30 am on a Friday there was a long line out the door. The lady was patient in taking orders and a male was manning the cash register. Like many places now they have square as a payment system but I paid with cash. read more
