There's also plenty of seating for the pet parents and most of the dog park is shaded which is perfect for those warmer days. Parking is never an issue either and we love how close it is to us. The large grassy space would be perfect for you to run around, throw a frisbee or a softball, and run and play. It's big enough to jog through, and safe enough to take a nap in. There's lots of places to sit in the shade under ample trees and little gazebo things that provide cover from the Texas sun. This park has a fountain- for some reason it looks like there's a bunch of concrete coffins in the middle of the fountain, but you're welcome to climb all over them! I saw an older guy taking a bath there. Be sure to check out the art- there's a graffiti wall where you can make your own masterpieces, or expound upon why you love Dallas on a 214 chalk board. Parking can be challenging, but it's on Main Street, so you should be able to use public transit to get here.

My friends and I spent time walking around the Stockyards area, popping into shops, window shopping at some very luxurious western wear stores, and soaking in the atmosphere. Between the cowboy boots, giant belt buckles, hats, leather goods, and rustic architecture, the entire area felt like a mix of Texas history and tourist attraction. The highlight for me, of course, was watching the famous cattle drive featuring ENORMOUS Texas longhorn cattle walking right down the middle of the street!!! It was something I had never experienced before and I found it fascinating! Yes, I do wish it lasted a little longer, but as an introduction to Texan culture and Stockyards history, it was fantastic and memorable. Standing there and watching these massive animals casually stroll through town while crowds gather to cheer and take photos - wow, just wow! Speaking of photos... yes, I sat on one of the longhorns for a picture because... when in Texas!?

Today while I was at the park there was a vibrancy that was contagious. It brought the Chicago song, Saturday In The Park to mind, but I am still looking for the man selling Ice Cream! He is probably here, I just have not found him yet! Of course I have not made to the Food Truck section yet, and THAT is probably where he is at... So far I have seen people playing life-size Chess, kids playing in a dancing fountain, venders selling goods, authors selling books, people playing ping pong, and "a man playing guitar singing for us all!"

It felt like I went from Santa Fe to Santa Ana. Speaking of Santas, it's known as the Christmas Capital, but in the off-season, the only thing Christmas-like was me thinking, "Jesus Christ, these long stretches of sidewalk feel empty" Granted, it was the midday lull, and many of the shops and restaurants seemed spread out or closed as early as 5:00 PM. It's a nice, free place for a slow-paced stroll, but a bit underwhelming if you are looking for a vibrant atmosphere.

Downtown Grapevine is one of my favorite areas to visit, there are numerous local shops, a farmers…read moremarket, art gallery, museum(s), restaurants, a book store, trinity metro Tex rail station etc. Downtown grapevine has various community events throughout the year and is known as the Christmas Capital of Texas. There are statues and benches throughout the downtown area that add to the charm of historic downtown grapevine. Some of my favorite areas in the historic downtown area are talking animals (book shop), house of shine (non-profit/museum) and the farmer's market of grapevine. I look forward to my next visit.

They understand their identity and have poured into the locale with a solid unifying theme. My only complaint is the lack of planning in parking. With the increase in businesses and activities, they should have planned for more parking especially garages. Parking is a HUGE challenge almost Californian level. Nonetheless we return over and over. It's just a great location.

Attended the Arts in Bloom festival in downtown McKinney and I was impressed!…read more Downtown McKinney reminds me of a, much smaller scaled of course, downtown Fort Worth so I felt right at home! Small local shops, tons of eateries and plenty of space to roam about. The festival layout was well thought out and extended down every main street. Loved supporting the local wineries and trying yummy wine. Definitely an area I'd return to for another festival, or lunch/dinner if I'm in the area.

My kids love to walk along the railroad tracks that run behind it up to Davenport. There's a creek on the way. It's a little isolated. My young teen loves to take photographs there and has gotten some really nice shots. We've taken food there to eat outside. It's just a beautiful little "pocket park."
