The room was clean, but had a very strong chemical smell after housekeeping left. We lucked out with a room with windows on the back side. However, the beds were blocking the window. We needed those windows because the room was so dark! Only 1 light in the room, and it was on a motion sensor timer. The light in the bathroom was negligible, as were the small lights near the beds. I had to use a flashlight to navigate the room, even with the lights on. Decent microwave and refrigerator. There is not enough parking. There were not enough towels. read more

Got a late flight into Sacramento airport and stopped here, heading north. The place is not along the freeway, it's in town a couple of miles in from the freeway. But for only 70 bucks a night after taxes through hotels.com, I wasn't complaining a bit. The gentleman that checked me in was polite. It's definitely an older property, but it was absolutely spotless. You can tell the place has been refurbished, and they did a good job with it The room was very large. The bathroom was clean, there was a decent sized TV with a good picture that got Dish Network, there were plenty of plugs to charge my gear, The Wi-Fi was a good speed, there was a large fridge as well as a microwave in the room, overall, it was very good. The bed was a bit firm for my personal taste, but I realize that everybody is different. They do have coffee in the morning, but there is no breakfast served. For this price, I didn't expect there to be. But again, that's OK. Overall, a decent night. I would stay here again. Thank you. read more

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times a year for the last several years and the man that works the front counter is inconsistent with whether or not a deposit needs to be paid. Where to begin. Let's start that this is a budget motel which to me means bare amenities. Answering some of the reviews, I have stayed here twice in last month. I bought on Expedia and asked if they would match the price. I usually find hotels especially family owned do so they get to keep all the cash. They wouldn't which I found strange. I didn't leave any deposit either visit. Pro's:Price, nothing even close. Location for a road weary traveler is excellent as much fast food and a supermarket are within two blocks. I was pleased with having both a microwave and refrigerator which I didn't get at some big chain rooms for a higher price. Some of the guests and the neighborhood looked a little sketchy but I had no problems. Cons: Cleanliness is mentioned a lot. While not white glove clean I thought it exceeded most budget motels.Some things just made me scratch my head such as a toilet 4 inches from the wall. I had a sofa which was surprising with the cost but actually had mismatching cushions. Overall it was fine for a budget motel and with the price point I would stay again. The staff is VERY VERY rude, unfriendly, and unprofessional. Some guy walked into my friends room claiming to work there and when I stepped into the door he backed up away from her claiming he was "just leaving"... mind you my friend was drinking (it was after my wedding ceremony) so she could have easily been taken advantage of. They then tried to kick my intoxicated friend out without a refund at 130am because me and my new husband (who was literally renting a room upstairs) were in her room BECAUSE SHE WAS UNCOMFORTABLE BEING ALONE AFTER THAT MAN CAME IN and we "shouldn't be in there bcuz we didn't rent THAT room". The daughter tried to be reasonable (considering she translates for her father) but the man was very very rude and didn't care about what anyone else had to say. They ended up letting her stay in OUR room (our wedding night) but refused to refund her. The staff starts calling all the rooms REPEATEDLY starting at 1030am until check-out at 11 to "make sure you are leaving" and if you don't answer the room phone they REPEATEDLY call your cell phone. Many of us guests were complaining about it when we were checking out at 11am. I would never EVER refer this place to anyone. WHY I WENT HERE: - overnight work in Woodland - this hotel showed up on my Expedia feed and was chosen due to its location to the client, its price, free parking, and from other guest photos regarding the room interior and cleanliness THE LOOK (FROM THE OUTSIDE): - definitely a small family-owned inn - walking distance of various food shops/restaurants THE LOOK (FROM THE INSIDE): - front office is inconspicuous on the corner of California St and W Main St - front office is extremely stuffy - the room itself was clean and comfortable, mostly updated/remodeled except for the bathroom, which was clean but dated AMENITIES/CUSTOMER SERVICE: - man in front office isn't the most happy-go-lucky warm and welcoming person; seems very straight-to-business - the room itself was clean, including the sheets and towels, but they were stained vs. replaced (i.e., the sheets appeared to be clean but had an old boot print on the fitted sheet of the bed; majority of the towels felt like the kind you get at the gym where they are clean but not the biggest or softest and have old stains on them where you feel the towels should just be rags vs reused for guests) - I liked that the check-in was at 2PM and check-out was at 11AM (since I had overnight work from 6PM-6AM), so I was able to comfortably rest before and after work. He checked us into a room that had 1 bed and a pull out couch for my kids and failed to mention there were no blankets or sheets for the pull out. When I went to the office to request them he peeked out from behind some little wooden shutters like a creep peering out of a cave and told me I would have to get them from the room service the next morning. Keep in mind we were checking out the next morning. The next time we went there he would not give us the same room even though I told him we brought our own blankets and sheets for the pull out and the room we were put in smelled like piss, the mini fridge didn't work for shit, the sink leaked all around the actual faucet and the towels were hand towels. When I asked for more towels he said we had enough. But the worst part was I spotted and killed 2 roaches here... needless to say I was a wreck the rest of the night creeped out. Shady and unprofessional I don't know what I did to earn this motel staff's distrust, but let's get the worst part out of the way: a violation of my privacy and sense of security. A man from the front desk who I think might be the motel owner barged into my room without knocking while I was changing to ask why I haven't yet checked out--even though my scheduled check out would not be until the day after. He told me to follow him to the front desk where he--without any apparent shame--admitted it was "a misunderstanding." He also had the nerve to blatantly lie to me that he called the room-phone mere minutes prior to check if I was there, but I heard nothing of the sort. Stupid. They knew my car is still on the property because they ask for car details when you check in. Shady man with ZERO customer service skill and no passion for his job, and if he is in fact the owner, I wouldn't be surprised if he is the driving force behind why this place doesn't seem to see good business. Something else I could not fit into my review on Expedia is that this guy was hard to understand both in the phone and in person. It's one thing that he has a thick accent (Which I will happily work with), but it's another thing for him to mumble everything he says--and then look at you like you're an idiot for asking him to repeat himself. I will admit that I am not a frequent traveler, but I believe I've stayed at enough budget hotels/motels to know something is not right here, 2-star rating notwithstanding-- and the embarrassing state of the room itself deserves some mention to travelers. The room--specifically the bathroom area--was DISGUSTING. I was greeted by maybe 3 flies. There was hair everywhere, even TANGLED into the yellow-stained towels. I don't know what incompetence it takes for housekeeping to not see these things. The floors are bare wood, and you can hear guests above you walking around very loudly. The refrigerators are noisy. You might think to unplug yours until you realize you can also hear the one next door regardless. In the interest of a fair and impartial review, there are some positives: Working A/C on a hot memorial day weekend Comfortable enough bed, with sheets that were more acceptable than the towels. Below are things I don't care as much about, but you might: There was shampoo thankfully, but no conditioner No electric hairdryer No Coffee. As others have stated, you would have to go the front office which is not staffed 24 hours. Toilet seat did not stay up. This was pretty annoying. My final parting shot to Mr. Front Desk: When I called to demand a refund of you and you told me that there was a "no refund" policy specified, I apologize for not taking note of it--in the same way that you did not see: -the "do not disturb" sign on my door -the fact that my curtains were closed -the check out list -my car right outside my room I guess we all make mistakes! My husband, myself and 18 month old daughter stayed for a little over 3 weeks here while waiting to move into our new place. The family who was managing before the 20th were wonderful and very helpful. Then, a new man took over who is chauvanostic a*****. Due to the length of our stay and amount of belongings we kept with us from being in the process of moving, I frequently denied housekeeping other than to swap towels and occasionally change bedding since we were cleaning the room ourselves. On a day I denied housekeeping I later realized we needed TP and went to ask at the front desk. I was told if I missed or denied housekeeping, then i would be unable to receive services the rest of the day and was handed a half used roll of TP. The next day I was approached while getting ice and told that the man had seen my husband smoking in the parking lot in front of our room at night and to tell him to smoke on the side walk. Fine. The 3rd day I had a knock from "housekeeping," (not one of the usual lady's, but instead a woman who I assume is his wife) after already having the room cleaned earlier. I ignored the first knocks because I was in the middle of putting my baby down for a nap but she just kept knocking louder. I answered the door and was told that my linens were dirty. I explained that I had unexpectedly started my period and was sorry and made sure to have bedding washed immediately. She continued on complaining about it until I interrupted and said, "are you really trying to make me feel bad for something totally out of my control and for something like a period stain?!" And closed the door. Not only was it humiliating but it was harassment. The following day my husband went to the front desk to extend our stay again as our reservation was ending the next day and he was then told that we would have to check out at 11 with all of our stuff and come back after 3 to check back in. He came back to confer with me and I decided to ask why this was happening since we never had that asked of us the 2 times prior. I explained the amount of stuff we had and the inconvenience that would cause us for 4 hours with a baby and he began yelling at me repeating it wasn't his problem and our belongings were our responsibility and that "that room" was already booked. Even though online it clearly stated there was still rooms available. He finally agreed that if I booked online that same day and came in the morning he would get us into a new room at least. So the following morning i proceeded to pack our entire room up and right before 11 when all our junk lined the wall in front of our room, he switched again and said we had to wait until 230. It wasn't until he was told by either his wife or housekeepers that a room was open that we could go to on the second floor. Whatever. Then, the housekeeper off to the side must have told him how ridiculous it all was and that we could go into a room just 2 doors down. When I went to the front desk later to finish the checking in process again, I made a joke and said see I told you we had a lot of stuff! He got irritated and a yelling match ensued that ended with him telling me to not extend our stay as we intended again and to check out the next day. So. This morning I loaded my entire car up with our stuff, was told we couldn't get a late check out and that he wasn't giving us our deposit back due to the period blood stain on the linens. After he realized I would not back down and requested an itemized deduction showing me exactly the cost of the "ruined linens" because of MY PERIOD he shouted that I could never return and was black listed and threw my 50 bucks at me. This man should not be in the hospitality business and treat paying customers who spent around $2,000 total at his establishment the way that we were. Unless you want your every move watched and every towel examined an be harassed, I wouldn't stay here if that jerk paid ME. Also, our toilet seat was completely broken, our shower screamed to the point that shower time was dreaded from the loud noise, our TV would randomly pause every 2 seconds to 5 minutes until we pressed play again and the floor turned anyone who walked barefoot in the rooms feet black and disgusting. I swept and mopped every other day and even scrubbed on my hands and knees and STILL our feet were black 15 minutes after showering. The second room we occupied did the same thing. read more

This is listed on Yelp as "Cinderella Inn" (as in "Who's sleeping in my bed?" - kinda cute, yeah?), but is now an America's Best Value Inn. I got the "suite", which was probably the same size as a regular room that would have two beds, but my "suite" had a comfortable queen bed, table for 2 and a love seat. Also included: a mini fridge & small microwave, plus desk, color flat screen TV, ironing board & hair dryer. Also includes a complimentary "breakfast". Hey, it's clean, quiet & I got a good night's sleep which is the main thing, right? Not a bad deal, especially with the ABVI discount card. There are a couple of fast food restaurants across the street, which was handy since I got in too late to visit any of the "real" restaurants downtown. The front desk guy wouldn't win prizes for "best personality", but I didn't encounter any rudeness either, as indicated by another reviewer. :-) read more

I stayed for the allotted 28 days, then left and came back for 2 more weeks. When I returned he accused me of removing the smoke detector from the room I had stayed in for 28 days. THERE NEVER WAS A SMOKE DETECTOR IN THAT ROOM! I should have reported it. But he asked no questions, just accused. I told him that I don't even smoke, so why would I do that??! His response was that if anything was missing in this room I'd be staying in for 2 weeks, it would cost me $200. He also insisted that my room be cleaned every other day. Decided to attempt to go into the room which had stained carpets, peeling paint and a shower head that sprayed sideways. The towels were damp and the lack of fan in the restroom made it smell moldy. Guests who may be arriving at night ARE NOT WELCOME at this hotel! I really tried to give this hotel a chance. I gave them business and would have continued to give them a lot more. I live in San Francisco and visit family in Woodland every couple weeks. I usually stay a few days. I'm also the only one in my family with a lot of money, so I typically pay for a couple rooms when we are having family gatherings. This happens a lot. This hotel is the closest to my family, so it was becoming our regular spot. I booked it about 5 different times for myself and family. I was planning on booking many more nights. The location works for me. However the customer service has been quite strange. The last time I tried to book THEY WOULD NOT CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD for the stay in advance. The old man who runs the hotel told me: "You better get here by 10pm or you can't stay!".He was acting like a parent that was giving me a curfew!! My cousin was having a baby, so we didn't know what time we would arrive. It could be in the middle of the night. I'm a successful world traveler. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and never dealt with this. I imagine It would always be such a scary feeling not being able to book the room advance.. What if if your flight was delayed and you arrive to no room! I get the sense that they do this to people constantly, because they don't want to help customers at night. Can you believe that this is supposed to be a hotel? It's honestly just horrifying!! Besides making no sense being absolutely insane... What a horrible business practice for them!! Typically- You change my card and if I show up great, but if I don't too bad for me... I STILL GET CHARGED! Can you even imagine all the money they are loosing by not running this like a real hotel! If they don't want people showing up in the middle of the night they either need to hire a night clerk or GET OUT OF THE HOTEL INDUSTRY! Message to manager: This level of customer service is completely unacceptable. If you keep running a hotel like this you will only attract a very low clientele! This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in! My husband and I were in the middle of moving when COVID-19 started. Our plans were unfortunately delayed and we had to stay in a hotel. Front Desk, Mike, is wonderful. He was so amazing and understanding. We ended up staying here for a total of about 6 weeks (April 16 - June 2). One time we were a couple of dollars short and he allowed us to pay it the next day. The housekeeping ladies are AMAZING!! The nicest, most polite and sweet ladies ever. They realized our schedule after a few days and they were so accommodating to it. They made this crazy, nightmare of a transition very pleasant. This was a good place to stay before an early flight out of Sacramento Airport. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable with clean sheets as well, and it was nice not to have carpet in the room. Once I figured out that I could put the fan on constant I no longer had to listen to the TV that was on all night in the room next door. It was also within a mile of Blue Note Brewpub which was walking distance for us. I felt bad that the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. I would like to give negative 5000 stars. I made reservation and explained why Because I was out of town traveling by bus. And didn't want someone else to get it before me. Yes I explained it all the man said he can hold it till 6pm and ask my name Of course I got there before 6. And I said hey I brenee spears the one that called about the room. He acted like we never. Had the covnvo prior by not speaking upon it. A women came out they whispered in another language . and said no room aavail . I had my 19mo old with me . And need a place to stay. I came back to ask politely if they had any kings avail. He said all sold out. When I went online it said they still had rooms. This is hotel was a joke. After making a reservation for three, they said we couldn't stay because there were to many people and that they couldn't accommodate the extra people. We weren't from the area and had to find somewhere else to stay right on the spot. The gentleman at the counter was not friendly and did not seem to care at all about our situation. It was super frustrating and I just don't want anyone to go through what I went through. Please don't come to this hotel. read more
