I will never use the big box rental companies in Bozeman after renting with Journey. I like that they communicate very well and that there is never a question about if a car will be available. All the paperwork is done ahead of time and I literally walked 2 minutes from BZN baggage claim and got in my car and left. So easy! This was my first time renting a car from a local company. journey has no staffed booth at the airport. You do everything from your device through email, text, and phone. The price was great, and I was planning to drive within a relatively small area before returning the car to the Bozeman airport. The process proved to be very straight forward with excellent communication from the Journey staff. Responses to my questions were clear and quickly delivered. I would have given Journey five stars but for the fact there was no auto manual in the glovebox. If you're driving off in a familiar make of vehicle, that's not a problem; otherwise, it can be annoying to figure out how some component works. This has become even more problematic with cars that feature touch screen panels that are many menus deep. I've had this same problem in cars from national rental companies, and have docked them a star as well. If original manuals disappear, copies of selected sections of basic operations would still be helpful. Bottom line is that I highly recommend Journey to anyone seeking a good car and great support at a very good price. read more

We were needing a car for the day, while our car was undergoing repairs, and there were none at our usual location, so our car repair shop recommended Journey rentals. Great choice of cars - we got a Toyota Rav 4 with very low mileage. The car was pristine with SiriusXM radio choices. The agency has a small footprint - looks like a shack tucked in behind a car wash near Four Corners connecting Belgrade, Bozeman, Big Sky/Yellowstone and Ennis. Their opening hours are shorter than an airport rental, but if you can work that out with them, their cars, attitude, well it's all pretty great. We would absolutely rent from them again and nearly kept the car an extra day for the pleasure of driving it. read more

I've rented several times from large firms where you stand in line and 1 out of 3 times you get what you booked. We found Journey through our vacation rental company. What a sigh of relief. Rented a car from Bozeman, Montana airport: #1) On our paperwork for 'location' it had ACE, the address and "Shuttle service". After our flight landed at the airport we went to the car rental area and saw nothing about ACE Car rentals. We asked at another car rental counter and they informed us we had to call them. No phone number was listed on our paperwork. So after Googling the phone number, going through the national toll-free number we were then transferred to the local rental location. Another confusing/ unassuming factor was the local car rental name was Journey Rent-A-Car, which was NOT stated anywhere on my paperwork. I was beginning to wonder what we were getting ourselves into. An employee (Tom) answered, told us he'd be there in ~15 minutes to pick us up in the vehicle that would be ours and gave us the description of it, and where to meet him, which was all good. I would recommend the company 1) include the local phone number and the company's name (Journey) on renters paperwork they receive so they have all the info in one place and 2) have signage at the airport RE: ACE Rent A Car with their local phone number. #2) The vehicle state license plate was a paper/ temporary plate, which is fine however the plate was wrapped in 4 layers of plastic wrap, with condensation between the layers and only able to make out the wet paper tag when pressing out all the condensation, until it became hot and illegible again. While doing the walk-around the vehicle I specifically asked if the tag was acceptable since in our home state it certainly would NOT be!!! Tom assured me it was and "had never been a problem before". During the time we had the rental vehicle we were pulled over by a Police Officer for the vehicle tag not being visible. Fortunately the Officer didn't give us a ticket, however it wasted 45 minutes of our time while they ran my drivers license and the rental vehicle tag and registration. I was NOT happy especially since I addressed it specifically with Tom!! After this I inform Taylor: a Bozeman, MT ACE staff of this issue, he apologized and said "we have the permanent tags here and will put them on". That did nothing for me! I would recommend sticking with a larger company who hopefully would be more organized as well as follow state vehicle license plate laws. #3) After parking the vehicle in the airport parking lot and calling them to inform them where it was, as the printed directions said and as we were told to do. We then received 3 more phone calls from 2 separate Bozeman ACE employees, 1 being Taylor asking us where we parked the car. Obvious poor communication within the company. read more

Look no further for a great car rental near Yellowstone. We found this place because of the bad reviews for the chain car rental offices in the airport. We were a little dubious because the Journey office location was a short drive from the airport and it didn't seem convenient, but we had a fabulous experience. Our flight was delayed until after hours, and they stayed late to pick us up at the airport anyway. They were in text communication with us throughout our flight delays and rerouting - so friendly and helpful. The service was amazing, the car was great, and so easy to return the car, just park it at the airport and leave the key inside. read more

From the nearly immediate response to an email inquiry, to great conversation by phone, to the reservation process, pickup, dropoff, it was all so smooth. Our pickup driver was also a great "tour guide" with numerous recommendations covering hiking trails that fit our abilities, restaurants, grocery stores, and directions. Actually rented thur Priceline and from there it took us to Journey and we couldn't have been any happier. Not only did they pick us up but we didn't have to stand in line. Then to top off the great customer service - I realized I had left my cell phone in the car 30 minutes before departure and they got it to me with minutes to spare!!!! Austin gave me not only great customer service but a really good feeling about doing business with them. When I went back to their website where I had located the phone number, I was very happy to find out that the company is locally owned and operated. My wife and I seek out and do business with locally owned companies as much as possible. We are very much looking forward to a great rental experience with Journey. We rented two cars from this locally owned and operated company, and we could not have been more pleased with their service. They actually monitored our flight, so they were at the airport to pick us up when we arrived. Their drop off arrangements is great! You drive the car to the airport at your convenience, drop off your luggage, and simply leave it in the economy parking lot which is a couple of hundred feet away from the departure door. They also send you an email before your arrival and gather all the information they need to have your car ready to go when you get to their facility. They also have a unique insurance policy. If you were to get into an accident. you don't file a claim with your insurance company. You merely pay a $500 deductible (you can pay an additional fee to cover this $500 deductible). Unlike the big companies, there are no long lines, in personable service, and no pressure to buy insurance. Best of all, their rates were considerably less than the big players like Enterprise. Wish they had more car rental places like this at other airports. You crazy if you fly into Bozeman and rent your car anywhere else. read more
