I almost don't want to leave this review because I'd rather keep this place a hidden gem, but they deserve the recognition. Joy Japan Sushi is practically in my backyard, and it's become one of our favorite local spots. The restaurant has authentic flavors with an upscale feel, and every dish is beautifully presented--on par with what you'd expect from a high-end Japanese steakhouse. We usually order the chicken or steak hibachi with fried rice, and it's always excellent. The Dinosaur Egg stuffed with spicy krab is a must-try, and the krab puffs are another favorite (still not sure why it's spelled with a "K," but they're delicious). Their house salad with ginger dressing is surprisingly good, and every sushi roll we've tried has been fresh and flavorful. Honestly, we haven't found one we didn't enjoy. If you're looking for quality Japanese food without the high-end steakhouse prices, I highly recommend Joy Japan Sushi. Just do me a favor... don't tell too many people. Here going with my favorite style of foods. I really feel like I'm a Queen of Hibachi. So relocating you have to search for your special restaurants in your neighborhood. So I read the reviews of this restaurant and decided to give them a chance. When we went we noticed in was in a Plaza next to Walmart. As we walked in the greeting which was given made us feel comfortable. It's decorated very nice and it's clean. They have specials for your Sushi and Lunch Specials. We ordered Chicken, Steak&Shrimp, Steak and Chicken plus I added a Salmon on the side. The steak was over cooked for it to be medium, the chicken was flavorful and the Salmon was good but small in size. The rice was good but the Yum Yum sauce was everything. I'm very particular about my hibachi rice and it wasn't my best but it was okay. I do give them a 9 out of 10 though. read more

I had a WONDERFUL experience with Joy Japan. Although, I had a TERRIBLE DoorDash experience.. let me explain.. I'm pretty certain my DoorDash driver took my order (which was about $80), he called once and I missed it. The app wouldn't let me message or call him/her. But I digress. HOWEVER ~ Yumi/Umi from the restaurant that I called (I'm likely spelling her name wrong and I apologize), spent her time to help me figure out the issue. She not only called DoorDash, she had the chefs remake our order and ensure we had our food even after they were closing. Ultimately, this review won't do enough justice for a stressful situation that was for the restaurant and for our family.. but her reaction, ease of surety and genuine care of helping us really made a huge difference. Cute but small restaurant here in St. Cloud. The staff was friendly but service was kind of slow at the sushi bar, I think our server forgot we were there honestly. Went today as the restaurant is close to home. Ordered to go and the food was ready in no time! Hot and made just right the chicken and beef were seasoned well and tender. Good sushi, though it won't replace our current go-to place. Things started out poorly with the tempura shrimp, which while crunchy had an underlying more doughy layer. Things went up from there, as the tempura vegetables didn't have that feature. Miso soup was typical. We got the Black Dragon Roll, Tokyo Roll, Salmon Tempura Roll and Lobster King Roll. The latter was a double-length roll, garnished with a lobster tail fin (which held a big morsel of meat itself). It was my favorite roll of the bunch. I also liked the Black Dragon and Tokyo rolls. (As an aside, a lot of the rolls on the menu use krab: no real crab to be found.) The Fried Oreo dessert brought six cookies which, while tasty, were rather soft. Service was excellent, though a bit informal. read more

We were excited to hear about this restaurant opening up in town, as there isn't anything quite like it around. The restaurant is smaller, but has options for dining in or take out! The service was really good, the wait staff were quick and friendly! The food was really good too, everything we ordered was wonderful! While we had a truly wonderful experience, there were some things that seemed odd to us, that didn't make the experience worse by any means, but more so just left us confused. The hibachi meal didn't seem like true hibachi, and it was strange that noodles weren't included in the meal. There were no chopsticks at the table or offered, which if you've ever eaten sushi with a fork, it's just not the same...and lastly the sauce selection seemed to be lacking, we only had soy sauce on the table and given a small (shallow) dish of white sauce. Overall we would definitely come back again! The few odd things to us, weren't enough to make it a bad experience as we still really enjoyed the food and again, the service was impeccable! Eating lunch waiting on the pet groomer next door. I thought I'd try them out. Did the two roll sushi lunch salmon phili roll and spicy tuna. The price was OK the service was a 10 the sushi was a 5. The rice was dry and under cooked on the rolls. They were nice to even give a sample sushi on the house and it was good but again the rice still too dry. I placed a togo order online (yes the 45 minute wait is slightly accurate) I waited about 30 minutes for my order which to my super is extremely fast since the entire restaurant was full and they have a line for Togo orders. I had ordered a tuna, avocado and cucumber roll, in addition to their Tokyo roll. My rolls were freshly made to order and tasted AMAZING!!! The fish is fresh and and the batter for the tempura Tokyo roll was perfectly crispy. The staff is frienly, patient and polite just from my small and quick interaction at the Togo counter. The other I tried when they first a opened a few months ago and I wasn't happy. The Service here and the food were on point. Needed a sushi fix and it satisfied. Henry the host greeted us and checked in on us during the meal. The server was also attentive. Starters were fried shumai and crab, both hot and fresh. Rolls were the sushi deluxe and the snow mountain roll. We left full and satisfied. They know what they're doing here. Lol. The restaurant is not big, but has a nice vibe. However, this time we decided to try their hibachi and yak soba, and we weren't disappointed! The steak and shrimp hibachi came with a starter of clear soup and ginger salad. The soup was warm and flavorful, and the salad was crisp and refreshing. The steak was cooked to perfection (we opted for med-rare) and so were the shrimp (juicy and springy). The shrimp glaze paired well with the fried rice and mixed vegetables. The vegetable yaki soba was wonderful, and reminded me of our favorite EPCOT restaurant; Teppan Edo. The vegetables were tender crisp. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the sauce was flavorful and mild, and didn't overpower the dish. The portions are large and we left with leftovers. I had a Rama bowl tonight and and added an egg as an American. I cannot cook the jellied egg and oh my God they're so good to me and I cannot eat a soft egg. All my eggs have to be scrambled. So something about the jellied egg. Just really makes my tummy happy. My Rama was delicious. Added just a hint of sesame oil. Just needed that little umami tonight for me but the pork was sliced nice and thick. Not thick like a a plate but better than I've seen for most soup places which I'm very pleased with. I had enough eggs to get through the whole meal and left pork, mushrooms and corn and the corn was sweet tonight which was really nice and of course I had a house salad with the best housemade ginger dressing ever That's just my favorite. Can't say enough good stuff about these folks. The first time I came here was about a week into their opening. They were still a little rough around the edges but the lady who is waiting on me now has never left the cash register and I guarantee you there is a steady stream of two to three people every 3 or 4 minutes coming in to pick up. There are nine staff on the floor that I can see right this moment and that's not. The lady that I think needs roller skates that keeps coming forward bringing food out of that kitchen man. First of all the service was trash! The service is trash. This place is over priced and they nickel and dime you for everything. I came in and sat with my family. They had already ordered and ate most of their food so I did my order but asked it to be packaged to go. For what you pay for the teriyaki chicken it's a joke how much they give you. Then the flavor was trash. Then I asked the lady can my niece have a to go cup of soda (she had a drink in the glass) and the lady said it was an addtl charge for a Togo. Then I asked if I can have white sauce for my meal that I just paid 20 something dollars for and she said that as well was an addtl charge. Are you freaking kidding me. NEVER AGAIN will I dine here and I highly suggest others steer clear of this place as well! I'd like to add how I have no idea how ppl are saying their food was good. I understand everyone can have different taste in food but good god there has to be some honesty here. The flavoring of the food was so bad.
