We ordered a variety of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. The fish was fresh and the serving was large. Some places would put more rice and throw off the fish to rice ratio but Maki upheld a high standard. First time dining at Maki Hibachi, and the experience was okay. The interior is nicely decorated. The prices seemed fair. The sushi bar ingredients seemed fresh. I only ordered green tea, hamachi kamikaze app, edamame app, 2 pc uni, and 2 pc scallop nigiri. The edamame with sea salt had so much salt on top that I picked out few pieces that didn't have too much salt on them (only ate 7 pieces). The hamachi kamikaze app was good, the fish decent quality, the sauce was refreshing. The uni nigiri, they use California sea urchin, it seemed like a few days old but still tasted okay to eat. I truly love Maki Hibachi, but I took one star off because one time I placed a to-go order and it was really messed up. The owner promised me a remake, but unfortunately never followed through. That being said, I still really enjoy this place overall. The sushi is consistently good, especially the shrimp tempura roll, which is one of my favorites on the menu. The edamame is always a great starter, and the hibachi is absolutely fire. We usually come here specifically for the hibachi, and I love that they'll let you do double salad instead of the usual salad and soup combo. The plum wine is also great, and the restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and has a nice atmosphere for both dine-in and takeout. While that one experience kept it from being a perfect rating, the food keeps bringing me back. Sunday afternoon my husband and I had a morning of cleaning and then headed out for some shopping and lunch. At first we thought we'd just drive through some Cane's but I really wasn't feeling the heavy greasiness of it and desired something more light and refreshing. We came across Make Hibachi and said, "Lets try it" a sushi roll would be perfect. Upon entering we were greeted and sat right away. They have an extensive menu so I was glad it took our server Steven a moment to get to us. Not pictured, I ordered a peach green tea smash and it was delicious! Refreshing, flavorful and not too sweet. We reviewed the menu and were surprised at the combinations of sushi we'd never seen before. The Voodoo roll features avocado, tuna, masago, eel sauce, scallions and tempura flakes and then topped with tons of baked spicy crawfish. It was so good I had to stop myself from eating the last one because I knew my stomach couldn't fit anymore. We also split the sexy lobster roll, which features coconut fried lobster, spring mix, avocado, asparagus, masago, eel sauce and white sauce. The presentation left us in awe showing us the complete lobster tail they used to fill the roll with. It's a huge roll, so much so that we had leftovers between the two we ordered. We really enjoyed Maki's food, and they also play a really nice lo-fi music that's upbeat while we talked and enjoyed our lunch date. Steven was a great server who was attentive and gave great service. Additionally, I was looking at the hours and love how they're open till 10pm sun-thurs, and 10:30 on Fri and Saturday. We're always trying to think of places to eat that are open a little later and have healthier options, so now we know Maki Hibachi is a great one for future reference. When I'm in the Lake Nona area and in need of a meal, I'll definitely be thinking of Maki Hibachi and next time I'll try some of their hot food options. read more

Ive been coming since 2024 trying to try all the menus and never had a miss! Great ambiance for having a good time with your friends or family. Such a great local spot. The decor is modern, clean and well lit with soft music in the background. Perfect for lunch or dinner. They do close between lunch and dinner so something to keep in mind. I ordered two rolls, orange bowl roll and atom bomb roll. Both were very tasty, temperature was perfect. The parking can be a little difficult around peak times. Went here last night for date night Monday and it was amazing! I was craving some sushi/raw fish and my hubby doesn't care for that so I was happy they also had hibachi which is his favorite. The poke bowl was really good with their house made spicy lemon-garlic sauce I poured over it. The drunken tuna appetizer was also very tasty. The flavor in the hibachi was great as well. We were seated straight away on a Friday night. The restaurant was busy, but there were a few open tables! What I love is its hibachi dinner without the show and price. Plus you still get a little show if you're close to the open kitchen. We started with some edamame. My husband had sushi as his main and loved both rolls he got. Don't be deterred by the spicy sauce he loved it and he can't handle heat/spice! I had the vegetable hibachi dinner, miso soup, salad, fried rice and hibachi vegetables. Next time I might omit some vegetables so I get more of my favorites! I was a little shocked that the fried rice did not heat up well the next day, but other than that we were pretty impressed. We arrived at the tail end of the lunch hour on a weekend afternoon (2:15pm), just in time for the lunch special, available from 11am-3pm daily. What a deal the lunch special is, although the regular menu is also fairly priced. I couldn't decide between sushi and sashimi so I got both - with the sushi-sashimi combo for $18 - which comes with 6 pieces of sashimi, 3 nigiri and a spicy tuna roll. I also eyed the hibachi from my sushi plate - will probably order that next time. The lunch pricing for the hibachi is also super reasonable. All lunch options come with either miso soup or salad. The raw fish was very fresh and good quality for the price. Definitely recommend for a quick and easy but not just a fast food lunch! read more

DISAPPOINTING DINNER We recently dined at Maki Hibachi, having not been here for awhile. Attractive understated décor. Friendly service. We ordered miso soup ($3), shrimp tempura appetizer ($11), chicken tempura bento box ($16) and kid's steak hibachi ($9). All the dishes and especially the tempura could have been better if served hot and not room temperature. We were disappointed with the poorly prepared sides. The kid steak hibachi was the highlight of the meal. The tender well-seasoned steak was prepared as requested (medium) but the side of noodles was very greasy. The bento box came with tempura chicken (4 or 5 pieces) plus half a California roll (4 pieces), a side salad, gyoza dumplings (2), a small spring roll and steamed white rice. The tempura chicken was thin slivers of chicken (the skinny pieces resembled tempura shrimp) and we did not enjoy the mushy and bland filling of the gyoza and spring roll. Skip the bland California roll and limp iceberg lettuce leaves (we would not call it a salad). The tempura shrimp appetizer was an unexpectedly large order of tempura shrimp (3) and lots of tempura vegetables (onion, yam, broccoli florets and a mushroom). The tempura shrimp was okay but the vegetables were not good - barely warm, very greasy and over-battered (oil oozed out of the mushroom and overcooked broccoli florets). read more

It has been quite some time since I have been back to Maki Hibachi. They are pricy for a family night out but this was a special occasion. I love the clean but warm feeling that the interior offers. The servers are always pleasant and often exceptional. The main reason I tell anyone to visit Maki is for the sexy lobster roll. It is to die for. Maki hibachi is one of those places that when me and my wife are visiting family I dream about going to when I want amazing hibachi. Everything from the staff to the food is exceptional and the prices are just as amazing as well! We usually opt for the food to go because it tends to get super busy! My go to order is the chicken dinner and it comes with fried rice, a massive amount of chicken, vegetables and a soup AND salad! The chicken is always seasoned wonderfully and cooked perfect. I love how tender it is and it has the right amount seasoning that I'm not grabbing for a drink because it's too salty or peppered. The rice is amazing as well but to me they use a little too much oil to cook it in but overall it's great! The veggies are mixed including zucchini and mushrooms and those are always tender to the touch and I usually inhale them because of how good they are! The salad is a great addition as is the soup, both having amazing flavors with the dressing and broth respectively. The staff is super friendly and always insanely fast when I've gone to pick the orders up and they always ask me how my day is going, which makes me feel welcomed everytime I go inside! The place has amazing lighting as well as a huge amount of seating. I never feel cramped when I am sitting at the Hibachi tables with other parties and Everyone is always so friendly during the Hibachi dinner shows! My friend and I decided we were feeling sushi on a Tuesday night. With Lake Nona, there are very limited sushi places so we decided to try this restaurant. We wanted to eat the food at home, so we got take out and then had a drink while we waited. The ordering was easy and the person who picked up the phone was friendly. We walked into the restaurant and the atmosphere is very nice. More upscale than I thought it was going to be. We sat at their bar area which was not really a bar as the seating was short and only tall enough to see the sushi in the glass as the chefs were preparing. I ordered us some Saki and she had a glass of white wine. I thought everything was presented well and the waiter was very nice. A little on the pricey side, but I think that's expected for lake nona. When we arrived home with our food, I have to say it was just average. Nothing knocked my socks off with the rolls that we ordered. I one simple roll and one speciality roll that unfortunately is not pictured here. I might try to go back and eat in person and see if that makes a difference but so far, this one was just okay. My wife and I met my son and his wife, who are regulars here, for an early dinner. The interior is very large inside, hosting many tables, a sushi bar, and views into the kitchens. I had a bottle of Saki, served piping hot, and the Sexy Lobster roll. Tender lobster, rolled with asparagus, deep fried and topped with masago. The presentation was as beautiful as it was delicious! The salmon piece itself was not very large, but with everything else it was more than enough food. I liked the ginger salad, the gyoza dumplings, and the California roll -- as well as the salmon. I didn't care for the fried spring roll which was a tad mushy inside and greasy outside. The bento came with white rice or noodles. I opted for white rice, but think I'd try the noodles next time. Sashimi was fresh tasting with chewable octopus slices, side dish of rice was not the Japanese rice I'm used to but a splash of rice vinegar made it better. No complaints on the serving size as it was just what this foodie wanted & needed. We tried the Yucca Fritters which we both did not like. It seemed liked they tried to do a Japanese/Asian twist to it by adding the sweet marmalade sauce. I think it would have been better with a savory creamy garlic sauce instead. I love this place! This is one of the usual spots to order takeout when my husband and I are up in Orlando visiting family. My grandma actually introduced us to this place and it always hits the spot! The food is absolutely amazing! Their menu has plenty of different options for everybody. My typical order consists of the chicken hibachi meal; this includes a miso soup, salad with ginger dressing (phenomenal!), chicken, fried rice and cooked vegetables. I never have an issue with the chicken as it is never dry and perfectly seasoned- pair that off with the white sauce or as many know it as "Yum Yum" sauce and it is an impactful hit of flavor on your tastebuds! Already craving some now! The rice portion they give you is extremely generous and almost spills out of the takeout container. I appreciate how appetizing it is when paired with a bite of the vegetables. Absolutely delicious. With the amount of food provided, I can never finish despite how hungry I am when I order it! But the best part about that is you can have it again as leftovers and it's still just as great. Although, we love ordering this out for takeout we'll definitely make more of an effort to come and dine in time to time as the place is amazing inside and a great experience to dine in!
