I found this place and let me tell you it's a hidden gem. I was at work and didn't know what to eat for lunch. Their happy hour caught my attention when I saw them on yelp, and I wanted to try this place out. The food was 10/10. The service was fairly quickly as I came during lunch time. I was seated right away, and since I was looking at the menu I already knew what I wanted! I got the California crunch roll 4pcs & the happy hour crunch roll. Can't forget my strawberry lemonade. The place has a very modern style with the wood and red lanterns. Reminds me of a classic Japanese restaurant. The paintings on the wall were absolutely beautiful. I will definitely come again.

Never disappoints. Everything is fresh, and the atmosphere is inviting. Great service, fair prices, they don't skimp on the fillings.

We went in on a random week night. We were quickly greeted and seated which was a plus. This was our first time eating here, so we thumbed through their menu and chose a few items to sample. The interior was clean and there was quite a bit of seating for being such a small space. We also ordered Thai iced tea, which was sad and disappointing. The flavor was odd, maybe old? The food started coming out and it looked really good. Sadly, the food was just overall not great. Everything was fresh, but lacked flavor and their oil gave everything a weird almost rancid flavor. The entire meal was disappointing, except for the spicy tuna. That was the only thing that was actually really good. The waitress was extremely attentive, and cleared things quickly as we finished. So definitely 5 star for service and the speed in which we were served, but we came to eat and the food left a lot to be desired. The egg rolls were also a weird mushy gummy texture, combined with the old oil taste, I couldn't even get past one bite. I probably wouldn't choose to come here again, but if someone else wanted to dine here I might come and just grab a sushi roll since that was the only thing we ordered that was actually good.

If you need to place to hang out and have good energy vibes and ambience is a place. The food is always great. The sushi is always fresh. I always get the avocado appetizer and the baked salmon rolls along with the TNT, which is baked with scallops and salmon. Everything is great, service is generally fast here if you are a local in Whittier, this place isa must try!

I don't know why I was so excited to order sushi and I came out here to this area for something important and I decided to stop at this little sushi spot for to go sushi. I phone ordered which was pretty nice because I didn't have to wait when I came in. It was already ready, but drove to my destination and started eating it, and there was something about it that I can't explain more like a watery consistency where the roles kept falling apart, and it just wasn't good. I ordered two rolls one crunchy and one California roll and to be honest with you definitely was not what I was expecting. Craving was not satisfied.

This had to be a special occasion to make the drive. Aaaand yes! It was still worth the drive. Still looked the way i remembered. Service was great as well. Christine was our waitress. She was attentive and sweet. Despite that my lobster tail took a while to come out ( and if it wasn't for Christine being so helpful and nice I'm sure this would be a totally different review) Everything was so delicious. Started off with the spicy edamame which I could literally drink the sauce they make them in. We also had the crab hand rolls. Those were so warm and tasty! Followed by the yummy rolls. Queen roll with the strawberry on top was my fav! Azabu crunchy roll had a perfect crunch and gives you a mouthful of deliciousness (2nd fav) Then the rock n roll rocked our world! That was a party in my mouth with all the flavors. (3rd fav) We got the keto roll and the only reason it was my least favorite is because we felt the cucumber overpowered the sushi and mango. Both me and my husband ate just what was in the inside of the cucumber it was way better. We didn't eat the cucumber. When the lobster finally came luckily it was worth the wait!!! I highly recommend the lobster tail! Full of flavor! The butter my flavoring was mouth watering. Truly enjoyed every bite! Last but not least our dessert. I ordered the chocolate cake roll! Wow!!! It truly hit the spot. Christine also brought a berry ice cream for the long wait of my lobster tail. It was so good! I thought I was full but it was so good I kept on eating it. This was a great way to celebrate my husband for Father's Day. Thank you Azabu's and Christine!

Both of our drinks tasted great and were refreshing. The Iced Green Tea also had free refills, which was nice. Next we ordered some appetizers; the Spicy Garlic Edamame (our usual) and the King Crab Bites (to try something new). The Spicy Garlic Edamame was tasty as usual and had a nice kick. My husband wasn't a fan of the King Crab Bites because he thought they could've used more flavor and the texture was off. Lastly, we ordered our entrees; I tried something new and ordered the Pork Curry Katsu while my husband had the Pork Cutlet Ramen (mild spice level). The Pork Curry Katsu was delicious, complex, and full of flavor. The pork katsu was crispy and cooked to perfection, which complemented the curry and rice. My husband enjoyed his Pork Cutlet Ramen as well. His only issue was that it could've used a bit more salt. It is pricey here, but they do give generous entree portions. We were very full and had some leftovers to take home for later. We had a few different servers, and they were all polite and helpful. Our food was brought out quickly, which was also great. The only issue is that the service was a bit spotty and we weren't checked on very often to see if we needed anything (for example, I didn't get any refills). It wasn't too busy either, so I'm not sure why this was the case. The interior was clean and had a casual, slightly lively atmosphere. They have blend of modern and traditional Japanese decor, which gives off a comfy/modern dining experience. There's a decent amount of seating, and you have the option of sitting at the bar or a table. Both options put you in close proximity to other diners, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. They also had different mix of music genres playing in the background. Overall we had a decent experience and plan on stopping by again soon!

My wife was the one who actually reminded me of this place we were debating what to have for lunch & after seeing all the buzz online we decided to grab some. First, if you've never been, it's a small spot with only a few tables. It's really more of a grab-your-food-and-go type of place than somewhere you'd plan to sit down and dine. I ordered the bento combo. The beef and chicken were cooked well and seasoned lightly, which I appreciated. The rice was on the mushy side, likely because of the volume they're producing. The California roll was warm and soft from the freshly cooked rice not my preference. The tempura, miso soup, and gyoza were all decent, but nothing that stood out. My wife ordered the veggie and chicken bowl. The portions were generous, but overall it was another solid meal that didn't really separate itself from similar restaurants. What surprised me most was how much of the restaurant's popularity seems to come from social media. It definitely attracts a younger crowd, and the online hype has made it a destination. But if you judge it strictly on the food, I think it's good not amazing. One thing I would encourage them to improve is hospitality. Don't be stingy with condiments, make sure you add the proper amount of utensils and when customers ask for a little extra, make them feel welcome. Those small interactions leave a lasting impression and build loyal customers. Overall, I can see why it's busy, but for me the hype exceeded the food. If you're expecting a viral, life-changing meal, you may leave wondering what all the excitement was about. If you're looking for a quick, decent meal to grab and go, it'll do the job.
