One of my top spots to get Asian food! They're located in the corner of Belmont and California, with some parking along side the main streets. The restaurant is fairly small but we almost always get a table for 4-5 people right away. The service is great overall, they take your order at an appropriate time and are rarely ever behind on ensuring your water is filled. I love ordering their chicken pad see eiw and one of their sushi rolls. The presentation of any sushi roll is 10/10. They make all of their foods fresh and made to order and it all tastes authentic! Pricing is really reasonable and affordable in this location. Highly recommend!

Ordered delivery a couple times and always arrived in good condition. We recently dined in and BYOB! Not the most attentive service, but it was okay since we were enjoying each other's company. Jai Yen Maki and Giant Maki were my favorites. The Seafood Tempura was so crunchy and yum!

Charming place located at Belmont and California. If you like noodles, sushi, or both it has plenty of each. Jaiyen is also pretty affordable especially at lunch. Has some pretty good options to choose from. The portions may not be that big but you get an okay amount for a good price. After going by here before we came in at lunch. It was good timing because they had lunch specials going on. These specials are good any day of the week. Got the one that's about $10 for 2 maki rolls and miso soup that's soybean based. This one was the vegetarian choice, with Avocado Maki and Garden Maki as the rolls. First one had avocado of course. The other one also had asparagus, cucumber, and spinach. Got a good meal out of it. It's not big rolls to be sure but you get a couple along with miso soup so it's actually kind of a lot. There's plenty of maki rolls for seafood eaters as well as vegans and vegetarians.

    Crazy roll . Good!

I have been here a few times and the sushi is solidly good. Love the spicy miso soup and the rolls are very good. Price point is very fair and the fish tastes fresh which is why I'll continue to eat here .

Spicy Scallop Roll, Jade Dragon (Raw) Crunchy Spicy SuperWhite Tuna (Raw)

Ordered for delivery and also for the first time. I liked that they combined all the 3 rolls (spicy scallop, jase dragon and crunchy super white tuna roll) into the one container. I felt that the portions are small. The maki was crumbling from my chopsticks as I bring it to my mouth. Nothing special from this meal and I wish it was better.

Thankfully, that wasn't the case--I enjoyed the meal overall, even if it wasn't a "wow, this is the best meal ever" experience. The biggest surprise for me was the dried chili chicken. I almost didn't order it because so many reviews said it was overly salty and spicy. We asked for less salt, and they were happy to accommodate. I actually thought the spice level was very manageable, and it ended up being one of my favorite dishes. The orange chicken was another pleasant surprise. I expected it to be a basic, Americanized option, but it was delicious and ended up being one of my favorites of the meal. My friends really enjoyed the dan dan noodles, which seem to be one of their signature dishes. Personally, I thought they were good but not particularly memorable compared to everything else. The mango shrimp was tasty as well, but it wasn't something I'd consider a must-order on a return visit. Service was great. The waiter was friendly, accommodated our request for less salt, and we were seated immediately. We arrived about 10 minutes before opening on a weekday to line up, and that seemed to work well. overall a great experience!

The cold gluten salad is a true highlight here, with an impeccable springy texture and an absolutely perfect mix of chili oil and sesame in the seasoning. The flatbread was also a standout, being perfectly crunchy and flavorful alongside a cumin lamb with a good punch. I was less impressed by the hand-pulled noodles. The soup itself was fine, as were the lamb intestines (though I really prefer them grilled). However, for hand-stretched noodles, the noodles were just lacking and missing something. Maybe wheat noodles get better the further west you go, and it just isn't quite Lanzhou style.

I tried the biang biang noodles, but which was a bit bibimbap-esque with the tomato and egg, black bean pork, braised beef, and minced sauce. This was awesome as I love each ingredient individually but normally can't choose between which noodle bow I want. Mixed together, this creates a heavenly flavor of sweet, sour, and umami. The biang biang noodles were thick, chewy and bouncy, and like wider longer belts. The texture was actually so addicting and I devoured my bowl almost instantly. My friend got the Szechuan spicy vermicelli pot with beef, but this needed a bit more flavor and spice. Adding vinegar helped! Our server was super nice and friendly and helped us pack all our leftovers too.

Our large group was accommodated easily, and we were served relatively quickly after an initial delay while we were waiting for someone to come by. Food came soon after that. We ordered a wide range of things: honey shrimp, beef tripe, pork intestine, Hong Kong style fried noodles. Everything here is solid and delicious. Portions are reasonable too. Ambience is nice, clean, and modern. Only issue while we were here is that some in our group tried to order their baked chicken over spaghetti and they were out of spaghetti. Interesting basic ingredient to be short on here, but rice was not a bad substitute. Would definitely come back here if ever back in Chicago!

The music kept disconnecting and cutting out, completely ruining the atmosphere. If your restaurant automatically adds gratuity for parties of five or more, DECLARE IT CLEARLY UPFRONT. Don't wait until customers are leaving to explain it. We had already tipped, but our waiter actually ran outside to tell us it wasn't enough because it HAD TO BE AT LEAST 18% GRATUITY. Forcing an 18% gratuity after providing terrible service and mid food is unacceptable. Be transparent about your policies from the start instead of putting customers in an awkward situation after the meal.

I'd ordered Homura, and stepped away to wash my hands. Just as I was sitting down, the bowl of hot fresh goodness was placed in front of me. Even when the place was busy, the service remains lighting-quick! friendly and attentive too! As for the bowl, it was absolutely fantastic! Upon mixing, everything went together perfectly. The flavors were tremendously savory and rich, with accents from the egg, seasonings, veggies, and a healthy amount of meat. The noodles were cooked perfectly too! The bowl was perfect as is, and needed nothing. I was worried the bowl would be dry, but this couldn't be farther from the truth, especially with the ladle of liquid on the bottom, everything was perfect! Now, there are various seasonings and flavor enhancers on the table, but they weren't needed, in my opinion. If you do choose to add some, be careful, as some pour fast and heavy! After happily slurping this thing down in record time, I also ordered a single helping of Chashu, as I generally love it and wanted to try. It too was brought to me in no time, and was thin, well balanced, and melted in my mouth. Where it comes to value, the bowl was $13.50, and the slice of chashu was $1.50, IIRC. Great, especially in light of what everything costs nowadays. Final verdict: Kajiken came, and it DELIVERED. Everything from start to finish was top notch, and for a very fair value of $13.50 for a fresh, tasty, and filling bowl of goodness.
