Wonderful welcoming manager, Alan with an expert wait staff of 2 who competently served 21 of us. Highly recommend the pork shumai, shrimp har kow, Dragon Bao, yang chow fried rice, beef black bean garlic chow fun, Chinese broccoli with silky tofu, and honey walnut shrimp - very different from other Chinese restaurants. Food was a disappointment - the orange chicken was incredibly dry and hard to chew, the honey walnut shrimp was crispy but not very flavorful. Crab Rangoons were good but wished they were bigger (5 small Rangoons per order). On a positive note, the inside is very fancy, host/waitress was very nice, and gave a complimentary matcha ice cream at the end. Wow! Such an amazing experience. The ambiance is elegant yet casual. It starts with a warm greeting, a complimentary sushi bar, white table cloths, very cool cocktail teaser. The food - double wow - perfectly crispy egg rolls, orange chicken, tender Mongolian beef with just the right amount of spice, a veggie noodle dish that was overflowing with yummy goodness, spicy Korean steak and the best shrimp and walnut dish I've ever tasted. The four of us shared everything and still had leftovers. The portions are plentiful, the service attentive and just when we were ready to roll out of the restaurant, an amazing complimentary dessert was brought to our table. So I drive by this place all the time and finally went... I was pleasantly surprised. They pay attention to such detail with everything. They gave us warm towels at the beginning of the meal. Then more freebies along the way; a free little drink with bubbles at the beginning of the meal, as well as a dessert (matcha ice cream with a cookie and a walnut). The food was amazing, best crab Rangoons I have had ever! The food is a bit pricier than most Chinese but it makes up for it with flavor, atmosphere and the freebies to make you feel extra special. They had a great deal where if you bought an entree each and split a ln appetizer, you have free access to their sushi boat! I would only note they should probably put ice on the sushi boat to keep the sushi cool. Will definitely be back, check it out! read more

We ordered: Chef's Rice Bowl - garlic fried rice with jumbo shrimp in lobster sauce Peking Duck Gai Lan Beef Salt & Pepper Tofu Pork Egg Rolls Everything about the chefs rice bowl was delicious and cooked properly. Peking duck was... different. The meat was good but it was covered in sauce and on a bed of veggies (see photo) which is not how Peking duck is normally served. Gai Lan beef was flavorful and perfect with white rice. Salt and pepper tofu and pork egg rolls were both tasty but also covered in sauce like the duck. Normally, salt and pepper dishes are sauceless and so are pork egg rolls to stay crispy. I prefer the entree and sauce to stay separate for specific dishes. Server was very nice. We came here for a Sunday dinner. I was surprised at house many people were dining in. I feel like nowadays, Chinese restaurants do more takeout orders than dine in. We were still able to get a table without having to wait. The staff here was great. Very friendly, although they may have been a little understaffed. There was no one at the front to greet people coming in, so there were times where people were waiting up to 5 minutes to get acknowledged. The dining area was very lovely. Beautiful decor, it felt very elegant. We started off with their Cha Sue Bao. Their steamed bbq pork buns. These were so delicious. Very filling for an appetizer and the pork inside was perfect. My wife ordered their Red Chili Chicken. The chicken was fried perfectly, it had a nice crispiness to it with the just right amount of heat. It also came with a side of rice. I ordered their Fire Cracker Chicken Lo Mein. The entire dish was tossed in a spicy Szechuan sauce. This dish was spicier than the red chili chicken but just as delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and you get a lot of noodles. Both dishes were very filling. Definitely more than enough food for two people. The leftovers were still pretty good the day after. DO NOT GO. I don't understand how this place still has customers. I got the orange chicken, something pretty common and easy right? NO. Dry as a bone, tough, and had some sauce on it that tasted like it came from a little frozen package they threw in the microwave. How do you mess up orange chicken??? Is it not just breaded chicken with some orange sauce? If you want to get fancy some orange zest?? My noodle dish wasn't any better! It was just tough meat (like chewing on a rubber ball), mushy flavorless noodles, AND LETTUCE. Who puts lettuce in a dish like that?? If I wanted mushy noodles and leaves I could've just left some penne on the stove for too long, and then gone out and picked some of my neighbors WEEDS. One last thing. This place is expensive. I paid $21 for that noodle dish. It was small (compared to other places in the area) too!! I have the leftovers in my fridge right now and I'm contemplating just eating the price on that cause no way will that taste any better a day older. I consider this place an upscale Chinese restaurant but the prices are extremely reasonable. The servers were nice and attentive. Love the ambiance and the washrooms are super clean. What a lovely marvel - a mid century modern, quietly spacious Chinese restaurant with a select menu that fits in a small, two page flyer. The service was super friendly and gracious, all questions answered. We had a small dim sum lunch and each dish was prepared to order, some of the best I've had - steamed shrimp dumplings, bbq pork bau, sticky rice with pork wrapped in a leaf and steamed. The last time I went this route, by having highly cultivated and polished Chinese cuisine, was November 2021 at Capital Seafood in Beverly Hills. It was this very refined / stylish food you eat with silver chop sticks (not wood chop sticks). The same feeling and menu was here at Friendship Chinese. Their menu was very short but sweet; not like a Dim Sim house that has 120 items on it. I really respect a restaurant with only 20 items (not 120 items), because that's telling me they do those 20 dishes very well. We only ordered three things for dinner as we were rushing to get down the street to a movie that was close to starting. Our: * Orange Chicken was exploding with flavor and had a terrific crunchy texture * The Jasmine Rice wasn't fried, but had this crispy consistency to it that we loved * The Honey Glazed Shrimp was just flat out great We ended this rapid but delicious dinner with (their own) Chocolate Fortune Cookies, The people working there were kind, courteous and professional. The ambiance was very zen! It was very busy on this rainy night yet you could here a pin drop it was so quiet One thing caught my attention when we walked in: Thirty-Two silver statues of Buddha all the same all symmetrically lined up. I spent a lot of time researching a good Chinese Food restaurant around Logan Square and all signs pointed to Friendship. I'm very happy with my choice and I think you'll be too.
