If you'd like to be spoken to like an incompetent child, bring your dog here. If you'd like to be lied to about how this place specializes in anxious dogs, bring your dog here. When my elderly, anxious, super sweet, golden was always scared to get into the tub, Renee scolded me and demanded (yelled) I come inside to put him in the tub or she would discontinue services to him. Last time any of my family dogs went there. And to be devils advocate, I can understand how that would frustrate someone. However, don't advertise that you "specialize" in anxious dogs. A truly evil and entitled owner. Stay away from Renee. read more

Renee and her team are just outstanding. The faculty is set up well to manage special needs dogs & their people . They tend to your pets like they are their own accommodate whatever their needs are. My 10 year old Newfoundland, Chilly had her first grooming here this week. They were very welcoming even allowing me to stay until Chilly was comfortable. While there I watched the team groom, baby talk and love on every dog there. Ensuring each was getting the grooming but also lots of TLC. My dog finally accepts going to groomer without panic, and this last time, her tail even wagged just a little as she walked in. She was always terrified to go to the crowded, noisy groomer near my house and I felt awful forcing her in. That's a thing of the past now, and this place has additional (secondary) perks, like friendly staff, timely appointment starts (they never seem to run late!?) and text-based appointment reminders. It's a few dollars more than the cheap groomer that's closer to home, but it is absolutely worth it. I would recommend without hesitation. read more

You'll see a Subway. the grooming salon is in the building next to subways building. Plenty of parking and there's grass and a doggy pick up bag station for ur pet to do their business before or after getting groomed! so I was desperate to get my dog a hair cut, and after calling like 8 groomers, I came across Joyful Grooming. and I got so lucky! there was a cancelation that day and they were able to take in my little Leyla at 1pm. My sister owns a pet salon in CA and so, my dog has been spoiled by getting haircuts, baths, facials, nail polish, the whole sha-bang since she was a baby. we recently relocated to RI and have had struggles finding our new groomer that can meet our expectations. well, I'm super happy to have found Joyful Grooming! I met Renee (the groomer) and shared with her Leylas story... and showed photos of what I want my dog to look like. she told me leyla will be ready within 2 hours. I went to run errands and about 1.5 hours later I get a phone call that Leyla is ready. yay!! perfect! Leyla Is a 11 lb shihtzu-chihuahua mix. the grooming included wash, hair cut, nail trimming and ear cleaning and the total was $48. my only thing is, this is more than what I'm use to paying since she's averaged $30-40 at most at all other groomers. but, I like this place, Renee is nice, the salon is wide open for your viewing and it's close to my home. they go by appointment only so make sure to call in advance! take care of your fur child(ren)!! read more

Short version -- Joyful Grooming is an A-1 operation, and I could not be happier with the quality, professionalism and caring displayed by Renee Pierre. Long version -- We have a 9-year old cat, Mookie -- a longhaired Maine Coon mix -- who suffers from terrible skittishness. As a result, he licks his fur constantly, and had amassed significant matting throughout his body. Though my wife and I tried to stay on top of it, it became too much to handle. From the moment I contacted Renee, I knew Mookie would be in good hands. She arrived early, set up quickly, and comforted a very nervous adult cat within seconds of meeting him. In just a little while, Mookie was free of matting, and the proud owner of a clean, even lion cut. Renee also gave us helpful tips to avoid this problem in the future, though it likely won't be necessary, since she's earned our business for regular grooming and bathing. I cannot recommend Joyful Grooming enough -- just a fantastic experience, through and through. read more

Renee did a fantastic job grooming my husky! This is one fuzzy dog and I matted her back by using Castile soap on her. I brought her to Renee and she came out of joyful grooming looking ready for Westminster! Renee has special brushes designed for double coated dogs and there was a lot less fur flying around my life afterwards. Renee also picked up on bladder issues that my pup has which was very intuitive. Very knowledgeable about different breeds as I learned from a good discussion with her. I highly recommend. read more

I could not be happier with the gentle grooming work of Renee and her staff. I brought my badly matted and shy Maine Coon boy in for a Lion cut, and he was completely at ease for the shave and loves his new seal-type summer coat. I was very apprehensive as I've never had him shaved before and he doesn't like a lot of handling (his hiss is the giveaway), but I could tell the TLC level with Renee put him at ease and sailed him through the procedure perfectly (with no hissing!). I will definitely bring him back for grooming to Renee and would recommend to anyone with a long-haired cat. Happy to find this hidden gem in Exeter! read more

Last 2 times I took my cat there, they did not do what was asked. The owner is always running behind. It took almost 2 hours AFTER my cats appointment time, the appointment before this last appointment, just to get her started. I don't wait that long for my doctor. I waited over a month for the appointment last time, because it's a cat. She did not do what was requested. Her excuse was the cat wasn't comfortable with the dogs she had in there barking. Well, if you schedule a appointment for a cat, one would think as a pet grooming business owner, you would have the fore thought not to have alot of rambunctious dogs kenneled in such a small shop. The idea of a month wait and an afternoon appointment was so the dogs were gone or not scheduled for that window of time. I'm done accommodating businesses. I'm paying for the service, remember? Amazing! Renee has an incredible way with cats. Our resident hellion, who required a muzzle and 2 people to hold him down while having his claws trimmed at the vet's office, just jumped up to greet Renee (only her second visit) and positively enjoyed his mani - pedi! If you love your dog you will take him/her here! Renee worked wonders on my shy shepherd mix who isn't a fan of nail trims. She had special treats and sweet talked him the whole time. Renee is wonderful as is all the staff at Joyful grooming. One of my neighbors highly recommended Renee, and she definitely did not disappoint! She always asks exactly what you want and keeps all the info for when you come back. After taking my boy there a few times I recommended my mom try taking her dog there. He is a very nervous dog and has been turned away from other groomers, and one even told us he should be sedated if we wanted him professionally groomed. He is a good dog and does so well with grooming at home, it just takes patients and understanding to get it done. We made an appointment for both boys, my mother was extremely nervous leaving her dog and we even kept the phone near by just in case Renee called for us to come back and get him,but she didn't. 2 hours later she had them both done and they looked so handsome.
