Hmm..... I'm confused. Okay so this is one of those times where the ratings pulled me in and I DEFINITELY feel bamboozled. My new pescatarian lifestyle that I plan on having for the rest of my life, sets me on a path to no mans land when it comes to finding something to eat. I was craving sushi and landed here. *sigh* Long story short, I ordered the spicy shrimp roll, spicy crab meat roll and shrimp mango roll w/ crab sticks (sushi) and spicy mayonnaise on the side. All the rolls with the exception of the mango shrimp roll tasted OILY to me. Yes oily. It was strange because I have never tasted spicy Mayo or sushi like that before. It was a ummm, a unique experience. Very unusual and not something I care to experience again. The crab sticks didn't seem the freshest nor taste the best. It's simple crab sushi btw. Strange. The only thing I truly enjoyed was the shrimp mango roll. I won't be coming back at all though, as there are just far too many sushi spots in NYC to "struggle eat" from here. The sushi not being the freshest and not tasting all that great put me off, and to only enjoy one set of rolls (shrimp mango) out of all my rolls and sushi order as well, is disappointing, to say the least. Thank goodness I didn't get food poisoning as I did force my food down at my own risk. Any sushi lover knows that when the food is not absolutely fresh, you're pretty much playing Russian roulette with your guts lol Overall, This sushi freak is going to have to not recommend this place. Had dinner with my family of 5 here last night and the food was delicious. We had both sushi and chinese food. Fresh vegetables, everything flavorful. Highly recommend. The pair that ran the place were so sweet and hospitable. It is bigger than the average takeout spot, with a bright clean ambience and a few tables. Great experience and didn't break the bank. Really disappointed in my order this evening. I've usually had good experiences with Joyo. But tonight it was bad. The beef and broccoli and boneless spare ribs were rubbery, as if they had been microwaved. The texture of the meat was awful, inedible. Maybe today was an off day for them? I do not recommend this place for sushi. Especially not to go. They put the sushi next to three hot soups. They left the tofu and seafood too long in the miso soup so it's soft and melts in your mouth (gross). The sushi was hot and the salmon fell apart and was a lighter color than the typical salmon roll (which I also received). The rice is even over cooked and the rolls fell apart. The two stars is for the Chinese food and the hot & sour soup. So order here for Chinese food and not for sushi. read more

Meh. This place was alright. First time I had it... it was soo good. Second time... things was semi-fine. I really like the vegetable fried rice. It was pretty good. Just wished they cooked the chicken a bit more. Delivery driver haggled me into giving him a tip before providing my cash back to me. Told me he doesnt have enough cash to hand back to me. I ordered delivery through Yelp, and it was fine. The food arrived within 45 minutes. Nothing unusual, but the food was cooked well. I had the sesame chicken, which for some reason was listed under "Chef's Specialties." Sort of ordinary for a specialty, but it was good. The spicy salmon roll was tasty. More salmon and less rice than is typical. There are sushi restaurants that have the same rolls, done as well or better, for less, but there weren't any issues here. They have a large menu, which is usually a cause for concern, but in this case, it didn't cause any problems. read more

I ordered through doordash n went to pick up my food n the cashier looked at me n starts scratching her nose. Like rubbing it cus it must've been itching. Without a napkin though. That's gross. It's a food establishment. I almost wanted to cancel the order but it was already paid for n she didn't cook my food but she is representing the restaurant so she should take that into consideration especially if there's customers there. She was sitting by the cashier and the cook was behind her wearing an apron. She was not wearing an apron so I still took the bag she handed me after she rubbed her nose cus I figured since she didn't cook it the cook behind her did I can just throw out the plastic bag she grabbed n it'll be fine. Well, this is my first takeout from Joyo, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the Happy Family, Crab meat Wontons, and vegetable egg rolls, and all the orders were well cooked, not greasy, and fresh. First time trying this place and I was not disappointed. Went in person to place order and take out. First time ordering sushi since the pandemic, I had concerns about freshness and cleanliness/sanitizing, but hoped for the best. Order was prepared quickly, the place looked very clean, the staff was friendly. The sushi rolls I ordered were fresh and delicious (was still wary of freshness factor for raw fish so I ordered an avocado roll and a shrimp tempura roll to be safe). Also ordered Chinese food, also very tasty. If I had to make one comment, it would be that I wish they hadn't placed the cold sushi in the same bag as the hot Chinese food. Not a big deal, I walked home and unpacked everything within 10-15 minutes, nothing was affected. I am so happy this restaurant opened in my area. I always crave Asian food but I never order of buy it in Brooklyn because when you walk by any Chinese restaurant in Brooklyn they are always dirty, their windows look like they haven't been washed in years, their floors look sticky and gross - making me wonder if they have rats in the kitchen...yet Joyo popped up on our Seamless, and we researched the location and it was clean looks brand new. We decided to order from there...we were happily surprised! The food was Perfect ! the sushi was fresh - The Lo Mein was delicious and they were not cheap with the pork, the egg rolls seemed fresh too -( in other words they did not taste frozen- Gordon Ramsey would be pleased).
