Wow wow wow!!! This restaurant was amazing. I went for New Year's dinner and it wasn't super busy. I got seated immediately. The complimentary tea here is so good; I'm obsessed. I drank at least 10 cups of that tea and the server was so generous and kept refilling my tea cup. The tea ramen was so unique and delicious and I love the tea noodles too! I also got the sashimi appetizer and it was fresh and delicious. And the hamachi appetizer was great too, I loved the spicy bite of jalapeño peppers. After the meal was done and I asked for the check, I was surprised by the dessert and let the server know I didn't order it, but she said it was on the house!! So impressed. Have been waiting for the Westbury location to open, but it's taking so long! We ended up visiting the Bayside location. Overall 3.5/5. We tried the tochucha ramen and karaage set on a cold winter day. The tochucha ramen noodles and broth all contain tochucha but not weirdly strong, it's good to try their specialty. However the chachu pork in the ramen is dry and lack of flavor. The egg in the ramen is slightly overcooked and also lack of flavor. The karaage set is pretty good, karaage itself is juicy and savory, the set also includes various items. Tipa amount on POS is calculated using after tax amount, which is wrong and misleading. read more

One of my go to ramen spots on Bell Blvd. Street parking out front. The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is clean with a big sushi / Japanese menu. Their dessert options are also plentiful. I ordered the spicy miso this visit and throughly enjoyed it. The food has always been amazing. I just had one scoop of matcha icecream to end the meal, lite and enjoy the wooden aesthetics of the interior decor as well. It's been a couple of years since I've had Nippon Cha so we decided to give them another try on a Sunday evening. At 6pm, diners were already filling up the place for an early dinner. We ordered the gyu-katsu to start along with 2 ramens. The gyu-katsu came first and looked like it was perfectly fried. The outside was crispy and the steak inside was medium to medium rare. The soy jalapeno dipping sauce was nice but a little salty if used too much. After a long while, I found it weird that having ordered within 2 mins after the table next to us, we still had not received our ramens when they were already more than halfway through their meal. When we flagged our waitress down, she realized their mistake and quickly alerted the kitchen to remake our meal. I'm not sure how they managed to lose our order but thinking back, I did see them bring 2 completely untouched ramens from the dining room back into the kitchen, so that made more sense after the fact. I got the negi ramen, which had a spicy pork broth and chasiu. The broth was light and had a hint of spice. The ramen itself was a bit soft and not noteworthy. The kara miso ramen had a spicy chicken broth and was even lighter than the negi. Both ramens were pretty average and nothing spectacular, but I may be biased as I prefer much richer broths and chewy noodles. Overall, I was a bit disappointed by this meal, but still appreciate having this classic ramen / matcha shop on Bell Blvd. If I do return, I would definitely get their curry beef udon again. read more

We ordered an variety of different items to try such as the Keisen-Don, Matcha Soba, Chicken Curry Katsu, Assorted sushi set. The seafood was fresh with no funky smell to it, the katsu was crispy, and the matcha Soba had just the slightest hint of matcha flavoring to it but paired very well with the dipping sauce. I came by after a few years for a quick dinner, and it felt a bit lacking. I ordered their Salmon Onigiri with Edamame, and I've never had an onigiri fall apart in my hands so quickly. It was the perfect portion size, but the rice wasn't sticky enough, so when I took a bite, the entire thing quite literally fell apart onto the plate. I will admit, I do prefer the regular egg noodles in my ramen. We order delivery from here quite a bit. Our favorite is the kara miso chicken ramen. This is our go to local ramen option because I have a seafood allergy and cross contamination isn't an issue here. The food is also always packaged very well and arrives piping hot. Last time I was here I had takeout. I tried eat in this time. I thought it was okay. We had the coconut matcha drink, tochucha chirashi, seafood yaki soba and the uni toro scallop appetizer. Really nice place for Japanese food, great and attentive service, and a cozy atmosphere. From the authenticity of the food to a wide menu variety to their famous tea noodles, Nippon Cha is a great place to try out! For appetizers, I recommend the Takoyaki. It's crispy with a soft middle and covered in takoyaki sauce, Kewpie mayo, and bonito flakes. The Gyoza was okay, nothing too unique or different, but the Tako Fry (fried octopus) was perfectly fried and adding a squeeze of lemon gave it a nice acidity and freshness to the dish. The Ika maru yaki (grilled squid) was chewier than I would've liked, and Agedashi tofu was okay as well. Their sushi was really good! Both the Sashimi Platter and Sushi Feast had consistently high quality fish. The latter option also had some unique flavor combos as well like yuzu salmon and truffle squid which were among my favorites in addition to the uni. The Dragon Special Roll was decent, but the eel lacked the charcoal/grilled essence and kinda lacked flavor overall. The Spicy salmon roll and Spicy tuna roll were standard, but Nippon Cha's Maki was probably my favorite roll as it contained large pieces of fresh fish inside which you can really appreciate their flavors. As for the hot entrées, the Ribeye Don was pretty good as the meat was cooked and seasoned well and tender. The Tochucha Ramen had perfectly cooked noodles--slightly bouncy and chewy--good portions of pork & toppings, but the egg slightly overcooked and not as runny/jammy. The Unatama don and Unaji were both a bit too sweet and salty for my liking, but overall not bad. Now onto the desserts! The Matcha ice cream had verrrry strong matcha! I really liked it, and it wasn't overly bitter/creamy/sweet! The Matcha Cheesecake had a strong matcha & cheesecake flavor, and I would have liked the graham cracker crust to shine thru more to balance the heaviness of cheesecake. Lastly, the Matcha Tiramisu was very heavy/creamy and had much less matcha flavor than the ice cream or cheesecake. Overall, whether you're craving sushi, ramen, or matcha, Nippon Cha is a lovely place to have Japanese food. It's perfect for a family outing or a date night!
