My girl friends and I went for brunch today. We were initially hoping to try their tapas, but that isn't until 4pm. We ordered the brunch instead, it came out quickly and food was good, but not any different from a lot of brunch that you can have anywhere else. However, I will not be going back here. We saw that an old man (caucasian,mid 50s,short white hair) was recording us eating and hanging out and I believe he had heard us talking about it and stopped. his cell phone camera was pointed at our table with the screen away from his face. There was no way for him to be looking at his phone. Once we had started talking about it he had not had his phone in that same position for the rest of the meal. Since this was a new experience for us, I wish we had gone about things much differently. After some debating, we had told one of the baristas about it. We were disappointed to find that he is, in fact, a regular. Nothing was done and we got out as quick as we can without speaking to this man. Again, there are many things I wish we could've done differently, but this is what happened. Do not come to this place where there are creeps who come here regularly. We ordered through Uber eats. The app told us the food was ready so we came to pick it up. The employee told us they forgot to put in the order and to come back in 10 minutes. We did that, and 10 minutes later we were told the order still hadn't been put in, and we needed to wait 15 more minutes. We asked for a refund, they told us that wasn't possible, so we waited 15 more minutes, at the bar, right near where they take the orders. 25 minutes later we asked about our food and they STILL hadn't placed the order. I don't know how this place is still in business , nor do I care if the food is good or not. If they can't even place the order it doesn't really matter does it? We never got our food. read more

Food was good. Service was decent. Biggest downside for our experience is that we walked in from 80+ degree temps outside to an oven inside. The table was sticky. Workers and other patrons were seen sweating while sitting. They took authenticity to another level here in JP. I went to order lunch the cook and waiter were so rude to me. I ordered take out it came out slow I had to rush back to work where I wouldn't be able to eat so I asked to have a few bites because I'm pregnant and I wouldn't have been able to eat my lunch if I waited to go back to work. I wasn't going to sit there and eat the whole meal just a couple of bites because I was hungry, pregnant, and hadn't eaten yet all day. If it wasn't slow I wouldn't have even asked because I would have had enough time to go back to work and eat like I had planned. The waiter and cook were so rude and unkind to me even though I paid and tipped. They berated me to the point of making me cry. Got take-out dinner from their Columbian menu, and were very happy with it. The 'tapas' dishes were each fairly substantial for the most part, no skimpy portions here, and there's plenty variety here to satisfy any palate- plus most of the dishes we ordered involved some kind of potato, which I'm always a big fan of (the actual potatoes were better than their fries though IMO, I'm not sure the fries are housemade). Their beans and rice were especially flavorful, the chicken juicy, and the mustard-based sauce (their house Columbian sauce I believe?) that was on a few items was really tasty. Plus the staff seem very nice (came to say hi to my pup, which is always a good sign in my book). Would recommend- will need to try their breakfast diner food next. Hate the name JPizle though- how about a name change to something like Columbiana Diner instead? read more

This is our favorite neighborhood eatery. The staff are awesome and genuinely friendly. Some of the kindest souls among us. I got the Centre St. Breakfast: Cons: I didn't like the home fries (something about the specific potato used does not make for yummy home fries, plus there was NO seasoning), also, they charge an extra $1.50 for 1 cut up strawberry on my French toast -_- Pros: the food was ready in less than 15 minutes so I wasn't late for work! I ordered them to be delivered, 2 food dishes and 3 drinks. It was delivered early. The pancakes were rock hard and just had globs of syrup piled on it. The egg sandwich was raw bread, eggs cooked wrong and spilled out of the container getting the whole bag wet with runny egg. Raw spinach, completely brown avocado. The coffee cups smelled like cigarette smoke, like what the fuck? The coffee was loaded with sugar. Best part was that it was toted with pride for being "delivered early." This breakfast spot with Columbian influences doubles as a tapas restaurant in the afternoon and offer an extensive menu! To start we had some fresh squeezed OJ! For food we had this bomb omelette, The Colombian omelette. In it you'll find dices hot dogs, tomatoes, cheese, and heres the kicker- SWEET PLANTAINS! The sweet plantains definitely add that hing of sweetness to cut the savory goodness of the omelette. Next we had the Steak and Eggs dish. Steak was perfectly and seasoned well, I would've liked a little more saucy goodness but it was still good! You wouldn't know from the name but it's an adorable & delicious Colombian cafe complete with signature offerings, some American standby's, excellent coffee, cocktails, and some fun unique drinks to try like the aguapanela and oranges juiced on site. I used to come here every week for breakfast but have had to stop. It has been under new management for about a year and I've given them the benefit of the doubt but cannot anymore. The service is slow and chaotic, and the food is slow. On a regular basis I will watch them seat parties of "regulars" ahead of other parties the same size. Maybe I need to die my hair pink so I'm a more recognizable "regular". I'll even come in and wait to put my name down and they will not come take my name until a recognizable regular comes in behind me, and then they will attempt to take that name first. They will lie and say "oh sorry, I accidentally missed your name", "they were older so they needed a table first", or just blatantly try and get them seated secretly ahead of other parties. It is really unfortunate because I loved this place. ***Update after owners reply: Your staff absolutely, intended to treat "regulars" differently. They admitted to it and then immediately tried to seat me when I asked them about it (ahead of other parties). You need to talk to your staff. read more

At this point I've posted reviews of dozens of brunch places, and JPizle kitchen didn't disappoint. I'm always a fan of menu options that allow for pancakes and eggs combined, so I got to try some scrambled eggs and their buttermilk pancakes, both of which were great. The homefries that were part of my partner's benedict were crispy and delicious. We got easy seating during Saturday brunch and the prices weren't exorbitant. The coffee wasn't my favorite and no one came around for refills which is my only complaint. We'll be back! read more

The restaurant isn't as clean as a restaurant should be. I met a friend for breakfast and our omelettes and pancakes were blonde and not very hot. The side of home fries was a very small amount but that ended up working in my favor as they lacked flavor or crispness. They were oily. The pancakes were the most disappointing aspect as they were blonde in color but tough and chewy, tasting of a boxed mix (I imagine a cheap Bisquick-knockoff.) My black coffee wasn't very good either. Everything tasted low-quality. Just an overall poor experience that I will not repeat nor will I recommend. read more

But then it started to get packed and someone from the boh who was cooking started to yell at our waiter . For NO reason . Our waiter explained to him that it was just him and another staff handling the floor . With space limited there wasn't much for the waiter to do . I would say on busy days a host should be present . It's busy enough on a Saturday to have one for sure . I would also suggest maybe getting a time sign or seat sign to let individuals know it may be a 10-15min wait . Instead of having them all come in and stand at the door which is basically them just standing in the middle of the seating area . Other than that I would highly recommend this place . The omelette was good, had the extra broccoli I asked for and was not oily or greasy.
