Food was made fresh to order when I went in on a Friday night in July. We enjoyed our guanabana juice & pineapple shake while we waited about 20-30 minutes for the food. It was worth the wait! $6 empanadas Pabellon is the one to order. Sweet & savory combo filling with Shredded Beef, Black Bean, Sweet Plantain, White Cheese. I ordered take out it did take a while but I believe it was due to the many takeout orders from apps and cooking time for fresh empanadas, arepa sandwiches and different meals to cook. Besides the wait I was thoroughly pleased with my chicken and cheese empanadas, pabellon arepa and churros. The flavors are incredible and fresh. The entrees at the table I was watching everyone's food lood delicious. Everything was excellent no complaints here. The restaurant is clean and modern. New location in JP, they were previously in West Roxbury. Ambiance is clean and very tastefully decorated. It was a little confusing whether to take a seat and someone would take our order or to first order at the counter. We decided to do the latter. We only looked at the tv screen with the dishes listed but actually the full menu is only available through their QR code posted on the counter and at each table. We don't speak Spanish so it was a little difficult to converse with the counter staff so we used the previous Yelp reviews to help us pick a couple of dishes to try. We got the patacon with chicken and the cachapa also with chicken. I let the staff know that we don't eat pork or beef. However the patacon did come out with ham but nbd, I chalked it up to the language barrier and just picked it out. The dishes did take 30 mins or so to arrive so I would suggest what everyone else said, arrive before you're hungry. Coming to the food, everything was delicious especially with their green cilantro mayo sauce. The pollo was the same across both dishes but well seasoned and tasty. I would pick the cachapa over the patacon because I liked the sweetness of the corn. We'll be back to try the other dishes esp some of their chicken stews! read more

Having frequented their original location many times, we finally made it down to their new spot; boy oh boy such a nice upgrade! Food is made fresh to order! The ladies working are always A1 in service and attitude! Thank you !! We ordered empanadas carne and carne + cheese. These have got to be my favorite item from them, i like simple go foods. Hot, flakey, has corn based wrap that gives such a nice sweet hit. I liked the carne with cheese most. Now the chicharrones tostados, perfectly crispy pork, I'm used to Asian style where the the skin is crispy but the meat is a bit juicier, but this style had flavor, squeeze the limes on and it's a crunchy snack that was very good. I preferred the smaller pieces, they packed more punch flavor wise! Thank you for introducing them for us to try! Enjoyed them! Then i think the lady ordered cachapas? Whatever the pancake style dish is was so good! Had meats cheese corn and just a great blend grilled up. They do catering and event! Space is so clean and spacious! Viva Mi Arepa ALWAYS hits! They serve the best (in my opinion) Venezuelan food you can find in Boston! I have been going to Viva Mi Arepa for years and their food never disappoints. Only thing is, definitely expect a bit of a wait because they pretty much make everything to order. So to avoid a longer wait time, I recommend calling in your order ahead of time OR order online for pick up! Prices are fair & portions are super generous + filling. They were located in West Roxbury for the longest time but moved to this Jamaica Plain (JP) location about half a year ago now. Today was my first time visiting their new location & I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! We ordered a couple of different dishes: - chicharrón (small) -chicharrón w/ tostones (large) -patacon (green plantain + yellow plantain "sandwich" w/ onions, avocado, cheese, + tomatoes) -empanadas (carne, carne w/ cheese, & jamon w/ cheese) -pollo cachapa -sopa w/ rice - papaya shake w/ milk -mango shake w/ milk -passionfruit shake w/ milk Everything was PHENOMENAL! We dined in today & service was great. It did take a while for our dishes to come out, so in terms of total time we spent waiting, it was about an hour overall. I highly recommend Viva Mi Arepa & I truly don't think you can go wrong w/ anything you order from here! Just keep in mind that everything is made to order so it will take longer than your typical restaurant. But if you can stand the wait time, the food is SOOO worth it. MAKE SURE to get some green sauce on the side... it's the best sauce EVER! I'm forever obsessed with it hahaha. The ketchup mayo sauce is an absolute classic, to pair w/ tostones. This was the best arepa I've had in the Boston area. I got to try the chicharron arepa and it was crispy on the outside, filled with pork and cheese on the inside. One arepa will fill you up for $7 which is such a steal. I will definitely be back to try out the other arepas! read more

Delicious arepas in a minimalist restaurant. The Reina Pepiada and Pabellon Arepas were both thick and packed with protein. The Pabellon was so big and cheesy I had half of it as leftovers haha. They gave two sauces on the side: cilantro-lime crema (easily my favorite) and the ketchup-y crema (solid too). A great experience, will definitely be back! read more

I had been meaning to try this restaurant since it opened and I'm so happy I was finally able to stop by. I got the fried perico arepa and it was delicious and so flavorful. The staff was also very kind. I'm looking forward to trying more on the menu. Tip for any new customers: order ahead for pickup if you are not dining in as arepas take 15-20 minutes to prepare. But it was worth the wait and there's lots of shops in the area to spend time in while you wait. It was also great value for the price and the shop was extremely clean. We got 2 different arepas and both were generous with the toppings and the taste was terrific. Sadly the shop was nearly empty on a Friday night so I hope others will give it a try.
