Had a lovely turkey dinner with all the trimmings on Tuesday evening. It was delicios and beautifully presented in a nice setting. Our server Owen was exceptional. We felt very welcome. The Mick is a cool pub, and informal part of Delaney House, whose restaurant is much more formal. They do share the same menu, w the same prices. Recently had the coconut encrusted haddock w a mango medley and risotto. Very generous fish portion, perfectly fried. No oily residue. Risotto also very tasty. I don't normally mention rolls but have to here. They win the prize for best supporting cast. The popovers and second roll (garlicky) were delivered warm, w a dollop of creamy butter. When my wife and I arrived for dinner, they were hosting a large party in the ballroom. Even with that, we had no problem getting seated. We ordered crab cakes for appetizers. For dinner we had the Petit Steak medallions and Blackened Salmon with their "chop chop" salad. For desert we shared a Banana Foster (ice cream). The Food and service was great. The only reason I give it 3 Stars is: Parking lot was full (obviously not their fault), but I had to park in the lower parking lot and walk up hill (not an easy task at my age) and of course I didn't see that they have Valet parking until I got to the top of the hill. Then there's the entertainment... a guy who plays guitar and sings along with a recording of preselected music. (Not a very good voice). He sang SO loud, I could barely hear my wife talking to me from the other side of the table. Aside from the few negative comments, I will return and I will of course recommend this restaurant for the good food, drinks and good customer service. read more

Second time here...both because I was staying at the Delaney hotel for a meeting the next morning there. First time was good, nothing to brag about. This time my coworker ordered a Reuben melt and I only ordered the bananas jamaican dessert. My girlfriend sent back the sandwich because she didn't like the taste of it and it had too many fatty pieces. She said she love reubens but it just tasted off. We loved the location, decor and music ensemble. The food was outstanding and simply could not have been improved upon. Ditto the drink list. We visited on an extremely busy Friday night, and the front of the house was crushed under the onslaught of patrons. Had a nice dinner at the bar and listened to some wonderful music. The staff at the bar was very attentive and courteous. My only issue was I called for reservation and was told they were sold out and that the bar was first come first served. The food was good but the service was lacking. We had reservations for 5 people and got seated right away. The music was way too loud and we had to yell at each other from across the table, One member of our party was already there and had ordered a drink. It took 15 minutes for her to get her drink. When the food arrived only 4 meals came out together. One member sat awkwardly without food, I asked someone clearing a table if he could check on it and he said he wasn't a server. We ordered a second round of drinks which arrived when we were almost finished eating and one of the drinks was the wrong order. It was removed from the bill but our friend did not place another order because she figured it would take too long. The only efficient part was passing out the bills and collecting the money. After we paid we were told we needed to leave the table because another reservation was waiting (there was no one waiting in the lobby and there were other vacant tables.) Our server suggested we go to the bar but we just left without finishing our drinks. Nice atmosphere live music and a very nice food selection. Prices are mid to high but a very nice place. Our food was mixed my short ribs were very tasty but a little burnt on the outside. The sides and chopped salad were very good. The coconut shrimp and dipping sauce were good. The rolls with dinner were excellent. My wife's dinner the peanut chicken bowl was lacking flavor and over cooked chicken. Service was mediocre friendly but forgot a few extra things we asked for had to flag down for drink refills. Very disappointed. Boneless wings were soggy strips of chicken with the crust limply falling off. Meal was marginally better. Husband's buffalo chicken wrap was same chicken different sauce and my chicken pot pie was nicely done, crust was crisp and chicken and veggies okay but with mashed potatoes? First time for that and made it very heavy. Beers were wonderful and drinks strong hence the two stars. read more

We went to The Mick last night for dinner. There was a little wait, but expected that for a Saturday night. Grabbed a drink and enjoyed live Irish music while we waited. Food was delicious. I highly recommend the salmon is you like salmon. Healthy portion and it was cooked just right. They were extremely busy. But it didn't affect our service or food one bit. We'll definitely be back. I would agree with some of the other reviews that it's a tad bit loud. That didn't bother us, but I can see how it could bother others. Heather was very accommodating too. read more

Fully enjoyed this restaurant which was attached to the hotel we were staying at which is also very nice. They compliment each other. We were a party of 4 which was seated promptly. Service was great. Food also great. I had blackened salmon with pasta Alfredo, others had ahi tuna, angus burger with bacon/cheddar with fries,and chicken parm/penne. Antipasto salad was unexpectedly good. Atmosphere was also pleasant/live music a plus. Grill/desert/salad/bar personnel are professionals. Glad we stayed/ate here. We arrived to a full bar and great band. After feeling rushed during are entire dinner our server dropped the check. I politely stated we were going to stay to watch the band and have another drink. We were then looked at as if we had three heads and she proceeded to tell us she had been working all day and couldn't leave until we did. We paid the tab and decided to stay and watch but up at the bar. Unfortunately the bartender was not the greatest. When you can see all over someone's face they are bored and don't honestly know what they are doing it's disappointing. We had prior nights there that were fantastic.... If you've read any of my other reviews, you know this isn't the type of place my husband and I frequent. However, we received a gift certificate from a wonderful friend, so of course we were going to use it. We arrived before 5:00, the doors were open, and there were plenty of seats at the bar, which is where we wanted to sit. We grabbed a couple of stools and started checking out the beer taps. They have a really nice variety of good beer (not all IPAs which is what we usually find). He gave us a couple of samples, and I ordered an Ithaca Nut Brown Ale (delicious!), my husband ordered a Sierra Nevada Celebration (also delicious!). I ordered the Chicken Parm, which is always one of my favorite dishes wherever I go, and Steve ordered the Teriyaki Steak Tips. The food came out within a reasonable time frame. Steve's steak tips were absolutely fantastic, although he would have liked a little more sauce. His french fries were similar to steak fries and were also fantastic. HOWEVER, my Parm was a HUGE disappointment. The sauce tasted like it had come straight from a jar, and the chicken was very hard and rubbery and tasteless. I could barely cut it (especially since I only had a butter knife to do so). I get chicken parm at different restaurants and pizza joints around Northampton and Easthampton, and for half the price get a delicious dish. This was disappointing, to say the least. I will say the bread/rolls were delicious. On a side note, I really need to make a comment about the ladies room. It was very clean, but the decor was absolutely hilarious! Looked like they were trying to imitate something found at Trump Tower, but on a tight budget. You've got to take a look to appreciate it. We still have money left on our gift certificate, so we'll be going back once. However, the prices are not something we would ever consider taking from our own pockets. There's too much good stuff in the world to spend it on! Bottom line: Service was great, craft beer selection was great. We have a 50/50 opinion of the food based on the 2 entrees we ordered, but the prices are way too high. read more

The food is very great & though there would be a feel this one is a little high-end sort of place deeming it's at the Delaney House/D Suites Hotel & thus make you feel it's high-end don't be so fooled as such because this one would tell you otherwise. When you go in this spot has a bit of a open bar with spirits/beers/wines so if you get a thirst you get it set & when you come to the bar you get some crunchy/spicy ridges chips which I'll say are very good & on certain nights you get specials & this one was Tuesday which was a burger one so the burger one is very set with variety & also sorts of such & even if you don't get the specials on the nights the stuff they got is good & even the places own recommendations are very good in terms of their own place calling best stuff to suggest. We were passing through the area and looking for a place for dinner. When I read the Mick described as "an authentic Irish pub," I knew the place was for us. I was picturing leather booths and hard wood tables - but what we found instead was a weird dining room attached to a hotel. It looked liked a catered hall with a bar- there was nothing authentic at all. While the menu was quite extensive, everything was mediocre at best: Fried calamari- I liked the addition of the fried banana peppers but overall the dish had a slightly fishy smell. Steak with gorgonzola- my husband actually ordered the cajun steak but was brought a steak with gorgonzola instead. He said it was ok. Chicken pot pie- the crust was really delicious- flaky and buttery. But the filling had a lot of binder and was pretty gloopy. I was hoping for something with a more gravy like consistency and with more chicken flavor. Creme Brulee- this was the most disappointing dish. The cream was overwhipped and so the consistency was more like butter than the smooth creamy texture that a creme brulee should have. Service was friendly but slow. After we had finished our main course, our waiter came to our table three times but failed to clear the dishes. We also also ordered a kid's meal for our son but never got the drink or dessert that was supposed to come with it. They even charged us for the milk we asked him. I am fine with mediocre food when I am expecting it, but this was just a complete disappointment - from the ambiance to the food to the service. Do not recommend. read more

Stopped in on a Thursday night. Turns out it's pasta night. Meh. The Fettuccini Pesto had a sauce that was more watery than creamy. The eggplant parmigiana was unremarkable. Either understaffed or just slow service. The sangria was super sweet...too much butter shots and I used a $25 "gift certificate" which wasn't fully honored. If you are going to pass around "certificates" that aren't useable on alcohol and must be used in their entirety at one sitting than it's a coupon. Or if only $12 of my $25 "certificate" was going to be honored than the waitperson should have asked if I wanted dessert to take home or suggest that I put the additional money towards a friends bill rather than not apply the other $13 all together. I understand there's a lot of ways to get discounted certificates these days, but when you restrict it becomes a coupon. Call it for what it is. Went here because it was connected to the hotel and food sounded delicious. Once getting there it was a big dissapointment. Staff was nice but the food is not worth the price at all. Everything seemed to be reheated not fresh at all. The pizza wasn't cooked long enough either. French onion soup was way to salty and again the chicken just seemed like a microwave dinner. Drinks tasted good but I would never go here again. Order delivery or travel somewhere else food is not worth even the convenience of being in the hotel. read more

We were staying at the hotel, and were so glad to have a dinner restaurant on site after our long car ride. We walked into the restaurant and the noise was so loud, that after leaving our name and being told there was a 30 minute wait we walked back out. We were starving though, so we went back in and asked if we could check into our hotel room while we were waiting. The friendly staff offered to call us in our room when a table was ready, which really seemed above and beyond. We gratefully checked in and rested a bit, and came down to a table waiting for us. The noise problem is not only that the live band was turned up strangely loud for 7:00 in the evening in a small restaurant, but also that there is a lot of smooth surfaces for sound to bounce around, and little to soak it in. We are not against live music; we are, in fact, musicians, but we literally could not hear one another across the table. That being said, the food was delicious, the service friendly and responsive. My husband had the sirloin, which was tasty and tender (though it was well done rather than medium as he requested). My son had the fish and chips, and was a bit put off by how thick the breading was- not just the quantity of breading, but the density of it was a bit unusual (though my husband liked it). I had the apple pork chops, which were SO delicious. The sauce on the chops was amazing, and the butternut squash puree was so tasty. They let me substitute Brussels sprouts for my potato, which were also well prepared. I was surprised that there were 2 chops, and had to enlist my family to help me finish. Probably this review would be 5 stars for food and service, but the fact that we literally had to shout to be heard across our own table made for an uncomfortable dining experience. read more

This place needs a wake up call. I have come here for work a half a dozen times and always feel that the staff (at the bar) feel like they are doing you a favor. And the food is always over-cooked. I ordered a Kobe beef burger med-rare and cut into the middle of the burger upon arrival at medium to medium well. It wasn't busy and not different than almost every time I've been here. I've had good meals in the past but then the service ruined the dinner. For the record, this is my first post ever on a restaurant and it is time to start calling out this overly comfortable establishment. read more

I love the food and the environment here and mostly the service is pretty friendly however they seem to be very disorganized. Pretty much every time I go there is some mistake with my order. They either put dressing on my salad when I asked for it on the side or they don't make my drink the way I asked. A few times they brought something completely different from what I asked for. I have noticed several times that there are charges on my receipt that don't make sense. For example they commonly charge an extra dollar to get salmon on salad then the price listed on the menu. When I told the waiter he took back the receipt and took off the dollar. I know it's just a dollar but this has happened several times and I don't like the idea of them slipping an extra dollar or two on my bill then the price shown on the menu. I called ahead the other day and was told that a table would be ready in an hour. So I got there exactly the time I was told and was then told I had another hour to wait and they made some excuse about how calling ahead isn't really a reservation and I needed to show up half an hour within the time I called which didn't make any sense. And even if that was the case it would have been nice if they explained their wierd system over the phone instead of telling me my table would be ready in an hour. I would rather be told "we don't take reservations" then to wait an hour and show up at the time I was told to and then have to wait another hour. I really wanted to give this place a good review because I love the food and atmosphere but I have been put in too many awkward situations. Almost every time I go there is something. Very disorganized servers didn't know what tables they had. The Irish nachos were very good but after we finished that it took almost an hour to get our main meal. Server never offers us waters, was no where to be seen, multiple tables got up and left cause no one was waiting on them. The table next to us sent their entire tables meals back.... and I got charged $28 for 2 glasses of house Cabernet. We will not be returning. read more

I thought the burger would have been great if it wasn't so salty. the crab cakes were also salty and too creamy. I have been going to the Mick for many years. The food was always delicious and the service was very good. The past few times we have gone, we have noticed a decline in food quality and service. Now when you order steak, there is a separate charge for the marinade/sauce and a separate charge for a starch to go with it. Not loving how they nickel and dime you now. The service has been terrible. It takes a looooong time to even be acknowledged. Poor service to follow. Food was meh. Many drinkers at bar made it extremely loud. Not sure what has happened but it hasn't been the delicious upscale venue that it once was. read more

After the proprietor, Peter reached out to me directly, my husband and I tried the Mick 3 more tries. 3. Each visit less enjoyable than the last. The final straw was our latest visit in which several things went wrong to make for a very unpleasant evening. First, the host said there was a 30 minute wait so we said we would be at the bar. 2 minutes after receiving our drinks I noticed the host putting menus down on a table that had just been cleared and reset. However, it couldn't possibly be our table since he repeatedly made eye contact with me and still didn't come tell me our table was ready. After seeing this table sit for 5, 10, then 15 minutes, we realized there were no other parties waiting to be seated. Finally I went to the host stand and asked if it was our table. "Yup that's your table." So was he ever going to tell us? Jeeze. Instead of milling around the bar we could've been ordering our food! After we sat, our waitress came over (no name given) and a sidekick was tagging along. Presumably her trainee but no way to tell since neither introduced themselves. After putting in our drink order, I asked for water for the table. Cut to apps being brought out and still no water, so I asked the food runner for waters. It wasn't until we were nearly done with our apps that our waitress(es) appeared and I could again, ask for water. The whole evening went this way. Poor service all around and something unfortunately we've become accustomed to here. The food continues to also be a problem. We started with bruschetta and the quesadilla, both of which were burnt but edible. My main of the steak and cheese flatbread was horrific. A store bought piece of bread with an oily white cheese sauce and cubes of large, tough, overcooked steak that was full of gristle and fat. After I ate a slice, I boxed it up to bring home to my dogs. We got a creme brûlée to go which was also a let down. Salty (?) and cold which tells me it wasn't caramelized upon ordering as it should be. To end on a high note: The single saving grace of this restaurant is their drinks. The menu at The Mick has changed and they have some excellent dishes. We had been staying away for a while because the service had been consistently slow.
