Appreciated the quick and easy scheduling and friendly service. My 2 star rating is for the actual haircut. I did start by trying to explain and show John a photo of what type of layered haircut with front long bangs I wanted. He kept saying, I know what you need and cut according to what he thought was best. Normally this would not bother me but, going to a stylist for the first time and them not listening to my concerns is unsettling. After my blow out, the haircut did not come close to the photo. I have a co-worker who gets his hair cuts here @ his lunch break typically and when he gets back to work he always looks fresh, like a new man practically. It is a classic taper / fade and I think he even handles his beard too. I have been going to a different similar sized owner-operated type salon with a similar price point for about a year. I like to support small local businesses as much as possible. That being said, I have been noticing quality continuously diminishing at my go-to spot almost as if it is b/c I am loyal... It was possibly time for a change so I gave J's place a call and made a same day appt. From initial phone call to paying for the cut I was 100% professionally serviced and left feeling happy with my decision. The do take walk-ins Appts., but when I showed up for my appt. he was ready for me w. an open chair. Initial impression: The place is clean, modern looking and inviting. He allowed me to introduce myself and he even tolerated me fumbling w. my phone to pull up a picture of myself when my cuts were looking good so he knew what I was looking for. Don't let the low-key location and his modest nature fool you at first, dude is a pro. I get a high tapering type fade and he probably used 2-3 different clippers / and several attachments and techniques over about 35-40 minutes to get the job done. He takes his time, appears to be a perfectionist like myself and it was appreciated. While I was there an existing client walked in and they were on a 1st name basis which added to my comfort and confidence in this place in general. In summary, I can't see a barber shop / salon at double and even triple this price point or more doing anything better. I am going again today and if anything is different than stated above I'll update this but I have a good feeling this is my new go-to spot. read more

I feel like I found a hidden gem in Placentia! I was looking for a place to cut my hair and not feel like I was going to be paying an arm and a leg for a hair cut. It's not the fanciest looking hair salon but if you want a place that does good work and charges fairly, this is the place! I found this place off of Placentia Buzz on Facebook through my friend who has been going here for many years. I had a wonderful experience with Jon, who cut my hair. I had a Saturday appointment for 5p.m. and about an hour before my appointment, he called and asked if I could come at 5:30 p.m. It actually worked out perfect for my schedule and was very impressed he was planning ahead. When I arrived, he was ready to cut my lengthy hair. He was very easy to talk after I showed him pictures and explained what I wanted. He made suggestions and I loved the final results! I paid $35 for a hair cut. AMAZING! I will be coming back! The only downside is it is cash only. read more

She was over 30 minutes late for her appointment and I was asked to wait for her hair to be done first. Seemed very unfair and I told them so. They did nothing. My children and I went to this salon for the first time this morning. We are impressed with the service. The owner was very nice and kind to my 3 year old who was scared about getting a haircut. He knew the right strategies to make sure my son wouldn't be afraid when he heard the electric shaver. On thanksgiving weekend my daughter was home for college and flying back to AZ on Sunday.
