My son needed a haircut, and based on the reviews, I made an appointment. He ended up with Cindy, and unfortunately, the experience was awful. His haircut was completely butchered--there were visible dents and uneven patches in his hair. He came home crying and didn't even want to leave the house afterward. Called today to request an appointment with someone that might specialize in thick and curly hair. The receptionist asked to put me on hold so she could ask which hair stylist may do this. Needless to say she forgot to put me on hold. The conversation I heard between the hair stylists was so completely rude and unprofessional, it blew me away. I am very picky about haircuts, I just go in every once in a while for a straight cut whenever my hair gets too long. However, I decided to give things a chance when I went to the stylist Jill, who was absolutely amazing! She is very passionate about what she does, and really made me feel like I was in safe hands. She educated me more about hair products I can use to keep my hair healthy and just different things I could do with my hair. I am proud to say that I have never been happier with my haircut. Summary: Time and money perhaps better spent elsewhere. Haircut was ok but not great and the place is very crowded, not relaxing like a salon should be. Also, don't trust the review rating. This places sends texts to their customers asking for Yelp reviews. I consider this inappropriate and taints any positive reviews they may receive. 5/10 Haircut: There are really only two stylists at the shop that cut men's hair. The haircut I received was just ok. My stylist was much more interested in talking that cutting hair. I would have preferred a little more attention to the reason I was there. 4/10 Experience: The salon is busy, but I don't consider that a good thing. There are alwasy at least five or six stylists on duty if not more and ten to fifteen people getting haircuts or waiting. It is somewhat chaotic and loud. I would prefer it to be more relaxing. To help with this, the salon offers you a drink if you would like one while you get your haircut. Doesn't seem the most sanitary thing to do while getting a haircut but apparently is becoming fairly common. Nothing about the experience seemed special, it was largely just a haircut but the number of people in the salon made it hard to relax and enjoy getting a haircut. 5/10 Decor: Your average salon, nothing particularly special about how it decorated. It is clean. 6/10 Location: Located just off Santa Ana Canyon in an old strip mall, the location could be a bit better. That said, its not a bad location but isn't the most obvious. If you live near the movie theater in Anaheim Hills, it is very close by. 6/10 Advertising: As noted in the summary above, reviews of this place should not be trusted. Several individuals who appear in the photos are no longer at the salon and haven't been for several years. More importantly, when you leave they send you a text asking you to review the salon. Scuba I have a very hard time believing this. I care for my mother and take her into Salon Avella every week. The staff there always makes my mom feel like a Queen. If you are a professional caregiver I would think you would know how to prepare the diapers not to leak. How long was the diaper on before you took her to the salon. My mom has been in here getting her hair colored and cut and it can take a few hours. You are the one who needs to be prepared for any situation. When being a caregiver you need to have patience. You might have your client have someone else take her for her hair appointment. I think you were the one being inconvenienced taking your client to get her hair done. Most elderly women love getting there hair done and talking with the staff. Hope you look inside yourself to see what was happening in your life that day. Salon Avella has very accommodating, and considerate people working there, but this review is completely for Reggie. Reggie is a great guy: personable, funny, and serious about his work. The very first time I met him was at 18/8, and I've followed him here to Salon Avella. Why? Because I absolutely regret going anywhere else, since I've met Reggie. I'm not going to lie, I read a lot of reviews but I very rarely write them. I had my hair long, and haven't had it cut in around 4-5 years and after a quick search on Yelp, Salon Avella clearly seemed to the most attractive choice. I don't go out much and when I do, I pray for a pleasant experience and it's safe to say my prayers were answered by the time I walked out of there! Holly greeted me with a smile and seemed very excited about me wanting to cut my hair short and go for a completely new look. Other stylists were commenting about how lucky she was to have a blank canvas and she asked if she could record the haircut which was flattering! Obviously the enthusiasm at Salon Avella is running high! I showed Holly a few pictures but ultimately left it up to her assuming she would know best and she absolutely did! Not only did I leave Salon Avella looking better than I had in years with my new hair but I also left making a friend in my new hairstylist. We exchanged numbers so that she could send me the video of my haircut and said she would text me a reminder in about a month that my hair could use a trim. It's now a month later and I'm writing this review before excitedly making my 2nd appointment! I think it's amazing that I entered the Salon worried about a stressful or anxious situation and generally hating haircuts and somehow I left overly excited for my next visit. As you mature you need upgrade, let's admit your hairstyle says a lot about who you are. Jason is a master hairstylist with creative mind and precise hands. Since then he had transferred over to Salon Avilla (where he's not as restricted to policies on how to cut hair as you would for 18/8.) When I met him I was hesitant at first but he helped me ease into a new hairstyle and continued to maintain it for a little two years now. He cuts my hair for all occasions from simple maintenance to the big wedding day, not once did he disappoint. I wrote this review only recently because my friend had recently gone through a similar phase of switching hairstyles and I thought there might be others out there.
