Catfiiiish! Shrimp burger! Big pun! The owners are friendly and service was speedy - got our food in about 15 minutes. The catfish was soooooo tender and perfectly seasoned and came with a generous bed of fries. Shrimp burger - unreal. The shrimp patty is made of the juiciest shrimp. And the burger was saucy, creamy and just a little spicy. Really well balanced and not overly dressed. Big pun - very very good. Beefy, cheesy, and sausagey and all held together. 8 hours later as I write this review and I'm still full. Visited this lovely food truck again, and at this point I've had their food three times now. This last visit, homeboy convinced me to step outside my comfort zone and try something different. Now listen... I would never in my life think to order a shrimp patty burger. Ever. But baybeeee, when I tell you that Shrimp BLT was fire? I mean absolutely nothing was left. I had been sleeping on it hard. Try it once and you may never go back. Now my grandma got the fish. Bless her heart, she ate about five fries and called it a day, so she never even made it to the fish. But my mama sampled some of it and had the nerve to say it was almost better than my husband's, and she was about to go buy some. The audacity. But honestly... I wasn't even mad. Support Black businesses, period. I ordered a water and sat outside to eat. The Portland water bottles were super cute, giving PDX carpet vibes. Very on brand, very Portland. Only complaint there was it could've been colder. They've got little picnic tables outside, which was nice, but they're a little rough around the edges. Time to sand those babies down and refinish them. The music was a whole little vibe too. One of the ladies told my grandma she'd hold off because she knew Grandma probably wasn't trying to hear all that. Meanwhile, in my head I'm like... but what about us 90s babies? Let us be great too. Oh my I think this was the best catfish po boy I ever had in my life (I know I've said this before but this now takes the throne from Po Shines.) just so incredibly fat and juicy without too much lettuce and filler to make it soggy. Dude walkin by saw my sammich as I was about to bite and said Gahdamn! Only thing is they're only open for a few hours on the weekends. Also their burgers look amazing. read more

Located in NE Portland at the Mississippi Gateway food carts, J's Cuts & Wraps is everything you want in a food truck: incredible food, friendly staff, and street parking. It's definitely a cheat-meal type of spot. They're known for having some of the best battered fried fish and shrimp in the city. The batter is the star of the show -- super flavorful -- and the freshness of the seafood really stands out. My sleeper pick is the Shrimp BLT. Don't skip it. The food and the service were both great. The price point was very reasonable and the portion size was good.

Friendly customer service and great location! I did wait approximately 22 minutes for my meal but, the wait was very well worth it! I ordered fried fish and the Big pun burger. The fish was fried to a perfect golden brown and the perfect amount of seasoning. The burger was amazingly delicious with so many flavors that left my taste buds eagerly anticipating its next bite. I went in a Sunday. Huge pieces of catfish and yummy sides that are only available on Sundays.

j's cuts is that spot you tell everybody about. i went for the basa and it was perfect. the fish was seasoned beautifully, the fry was crisp and light, and it came out hot and fresh. no soggy batter, just that clean golden crunch that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. jermaine deserves a huge shout out. the moment i stepped up he made sure i felt taken care of, walked me through the menu, and kept things moving even while the line stayed busy. and sade made the wait feel easy by keeping my mango slush topped up and chatting with me like we already knew each other. incredible food, genuine people, and an experience that makes you want to come back before you even finish your plate. i will definitely be back for that basa and to try more. read more

Tucked away off Mississippi & Fremont St is a little piece of heaven. Fried basa is my favorite. Fried firm, yet has a nice gentle bend to it. Not too soft and not too hard. The breading is light and not over seasoned. The fries are big and pillowy. If I could dine hear daily, until I tried the entire menu, I would. My father is recovering from a severe stroke. He's finally able to eat solid food. In a rehabilitation center where it's dismal and he's understandably down , this dinner makes his day. Shout out to Mr J and his crew. They wear masks and gloves and it's a nice shady spot to eat and people watch. Plus, Crystal or Texas Pete hot sauce, y'all better come get it, before I eat it all! read more

The fried catfish was so crispy and delicious. It was cooked to perfection. Also ordered the "Rich Boy Flex" and that was also delicious! A sandwich full of so much complexity and flavors. Solid food, good service, and at the less busy area on Mississippi. In addition, they also had peach Crush soda which is hard to get and only available in Georgia. First time ordering from here- I ordered both BASA ALA CARTÉ & CATFISH ALA CARTÉ. Texture and cook were great, although a little salty, but delicious nevertheless! After delivery, I did pop them in the air fryer to heat up... signature sauce was basically seasoned thousand island; good taste but not special- I was a little bummed not to have the option for regular tartar sauce but thats just a preference. I also got the UNCLE PHIL with chicken. It was AMAZING! Really good seasoning and meat/veggie/bread ratio. Only complaint would be that the parchment paper really stuck to the cheese and I hade to peel off/waste a little of the ingredients, but still worth it! I'll definitely be ordering again to try other menu items. Im really excited to have found a new place for quality comfort food. read more

I can only give 3 stars for the SMELLS of the food! Because the food surely smelled good.... Unfortunately, I never got to taste the food. I got to the truck at 2pm. 4 people in line ahead of me waiting to order. 4 people sitting awaiting for their orders. I finally am able to order at 2:44pm. At 4:14pm when I asked for an estimate on when my order would be ready, I was told "another 10-15 minutes", I asked for a refund. Hopefully they get their logistics together.
