I ended up go to J's wanting to test their fish sandwich. It was a fish sammich. Cod, grilled or fried on a brioche bun - got fried - lettuce, pickle and soon to be famous tartar sauce w/ chips and a drink. Sandwich was very good, sauce didn't quite trip my trigger as others have but good overall. The chips were okay, mix of cheese and regular chips, guess had I known I'd might of asked for all regular; not a fan of cheese chips and maybe kettle cooled instead. They forgot the coleslaw; but didn't notice until sat down on other end of the food court with family, so didn't to walk all the way back. The Garage Food Hall is huge place. This is one of the popular stores in Garage food hall. It's mainly for order and pickup, the seating area is in common space, right in front the store. They have some live lobsters in a small aquarium. The menu had lots of seafood goods like sammiches, rolls, shrimps, crab cakes, taco, salad and bunch of sides. They were having 5 year anniversary special of $20 lobster roll. We ordered 2, one cold and the other one hot. Took them little over 5 minutes to prepare the rolls. One person was taking all the orders and also handing them out. I loved the lobster roll. It was warm, with hint of butter. Went on a Friday before an event and it was pretty busy. Expect a crowd at the food hall during peak days/times. There is a paid parking garage nearby, as well as street parking. I ordered the Lobster Roll (hot), which you can get cold if that's your preference. Since they were busy, I did have to wait about 10 minutes to get my order. This is my second visit to J's Lobster in the Garage. Fun place if you're looking for something a little different on an afternoon. The food is good. I'm a transplant from Florida and CRAVE seafood, especially lobster rolls. The roll itself is pretty standard, New England style bun with mayo, lettuce, lobster pieces and of course garlic butter. Comes with standard bag chips. Service is always friendly, but keep in mind it's basically a food court and time with the staff is limited. My only complaint is the price. Located within The Garage food hall (within the Bottleworks building off Mass Ave), J's Lobster & Fish Market has a food stand that not only offers ready-to-eat food, but also a fish market where you can purchase fresh seafood to take home and cook later that week. They even have live lobsters swimming about. I ordered the shrimp chowder and shrimp chopped salad. There are community tables to eat at throughout the food hall and if you're weary of being around a lot of people, I recommend heading over during the week, as the weekends are usually pretty busy. I loved the chowder. The shrimp was so fresh and the broth was soooo creamy and hot. Perfect for a snowy day. I also saved the chopped salad to eat for dinner that night and loved that too. So on a rainy Thursday, I finally felt the pull -- that urge to give someone almost $20 for a sandwich. I visited J's and ordered a lobster roll. The lobster roll was great. I've had lobster rolls in Massachusetts that were comparable. There are other things on the menu that are less expensive, but if this is your first time visiting, you should probably get the lobster roll. Even the guy taking my order, when he found out that it was my first time visiting, said, "Yeah, you need to get the lobster roll." So get the lobster roll. The bread that the roll in served on is buttery and chewy and toasty, and is honestly my favorite part of the meal. I do like lobster, but it's all about the bread, for me. I'm more of a peasant than a princess, what can I say. All of the meals come with slaw and potato chips, but you can sub the chips for fries for an additional fee. read more

Today I decided to take a lunch and check this place out, it's located in the garage food hall across from the Brazilian place gaucho fire. It's quick and efficient, the menu has a lot of choices, but I decided to go with the lobster Mac and cheese, and a whoopie pie from rise and roll. My Mac and cheese was so good! Creamy with the perfect amount of seasoning and tasty good lobster. I love Mac and cheese but I can say that I've never had it with lobster in it, and it was tasty and perfect. I'm not positive this is the correct listing for the location inside The Garage Food Hall but others are using it so I will. Just look for the neon sign (see photo) that says J's Lobster & Fish Market hanging down from the ceiling to find it inside the hall. J's seemed to be the most busiest so we thought we would start with them. I had trouble deciding what to try first on the menu. There were several items, such as the Sesame Asian Power Bowl and the Lobster B.L.T. I would love to try but I opted to go with a safe bet of the Fish & Chips. The order taker told me the "Crab Cakes Served on a Bed of Fries" is very popular especially during the dinner hour. The fish sandwich which they call Fish Sammich was really good. A big thick portion of fried cod fish (you can choose fried or grilled) on a really good fresh Brioche roll. The fish was fried while we waited so it was nice and hot and very tender. The fries were battered, seasoned and good. A side of Ketchup and Cole Slaw is included in your basket. I didn't care for the Cole Slaw but she liked it. The taste of the slaw was kind of a tangy sweet vinegar taste. It was okay, just different than what I am used to. The sammich was a bit messy with the lettuce, pickles and mayo so I would advise to get some extra napkins. My better half ended up eating her's with a fork. We also ordered a Hush Puppie Basket (you get five) which comes with a side of tangy tartar sauce. They were extra crispy on the outside but very soft on the inside and looked like they had a few green onions in them. She thought they were perfect, I would have liked a few more onions. Don't be put off by their appearance in my photo; they were cooked perfectly! The entire meal with soft drinks and tip cost us $54. A little expensive for lunch but nice once in awhile to splurge on trying new places with cool ambience. I have it 3 stars instead of two because the spicy sauce they drizzle on top was the best thing they had!! I went back and asked for a cup of it lol. I used to dip my fries in and added flavor to the lobster roll. When I did go back to the counter to request that, a different guy was way more pleasant! He should've been the greeter guy! The seafood is COLD. I didn't read the reviews and felt rushed to read the menu so I wasn't aware of this. But this is something I would have like to known prior. The put cold seafood on hot buns and Mac lol. Out of the 3 things, the BLT WAS THE BEST. Skip the Mac and cheese at all cost. The lobster roll was edible if you add the yummy drizzle. My son and I ate lunch here today, he ordered the lobster BLT and upgraded to fries (additional $3.00) This sandwich was delicious with a decent amount of bacon and lobster, the fries were HOT and fresh, also delicious, not sure it was worth the $21.00 price tag though. I got the Asian shrimp power bowl and was pretty disappointed, the flavor was good but for the price it was lacking in quantity, at a minimum I feel like there should have at least been some lettuce in the bowl. These two lunches cost $45.00 (including tip) and that's with out drinks. A little pricey for lunch. Service was mediocre, not bad but nothing outstanding. I feel like in this kind of environment customer service is important, customers have several choices and with the price tag on their food I think service should stand out. The atmosphere of the this food hall is inviting but if you go during peak time you will have a hard time finding a seat. Ventured out to the Garage at Bottleworks to explore the new food hall. Great atmosphere and vibes! They did an amazing job blending the old with the new, the place has a very industrial hipster vibe. Seems that Indy is all of sudden a lobster/seafood mecca around town lots of new places to try fresh seafood and lots of competition! J's was fresh for sure and everything in the cases looked really yummy. Naturally, I had to try the traditional lobster roll, it was on point, lots of lobster and modest in size and price ($18). The bread/bun was toasted perfectly and what I enjoyed most about the sandwich was the drizzled butter all over gave every bite a nice buttery flavor.
