J's is my go-to dry cleaner. They are detailed oriented and very communicative if they notice anything off as they clean my clothes. J's is also my go-to tailor. I trust the tailors there to guide me on what needs to be tailored and what doesn't. The service is quick and the employees are very friendly. This is the best cleaners in Dallas! I am a new customer having left Tide Cleaners after 15 years. I am so glad I did! J's presses my shirts and pants much better. The collars are always pressed perfectly! The pants creased. I have also used their tailor and the results have been great. I have never had to take the clothes back to re-do! Took a $107 shirt to have the sleeves altered to wear with a suit. When I picked it up then tried it on at home I couldn't even lift a fork to my mouth without the end of the sleeves going up to half of my forearm. Total waste of money and time. J's Tailors and Cleaners is our go-to place for both tailoring and dry cleaning. For the occasional nip and tuck needed in pants, shirts, and women's wear, the J's tailoring staff are just superb, and efficient in getting the garment back. For our household's cleaning needs, which include dry cleaning, treating woolens for storage until the next fall and winter seasons, and pressing cotton pants and shirts that we have washed ourselves at home, J's careful work cannot be beaten. This is in response to J's Tailor's comments about my previous review: The dress was not left in the bag for any extraordinary amount of time while it was in my care. If the problem was that it was pressed and left in the bag for hours then that happened before I picked it up, and I paid over $100 to have more wrinkles pressed into it? Not acceptable. I picked up the dress myself and went directly to the hotel where it was unbagged immediately, as you can clearly see in the photos- it is hanging in the hotel room. The hotel is about 10 minutes away from J's Tailor. Not hours, minutes. It's now called The Highland but at the time was known as Hotel Palomar: Here's that information on Yelp: http://m.yelp.com/biz/the-highland-dallas-dallas-2 Anyone can see it's a short commute from J's Tailor to that location, which is one of the reasons I chose J's Tailor in the first place after they'd been recommended. I brought the dress upstairs myself while leaving my vehicle and everything else with the valet specifically to unbag the dress immediately. I am appalled that this would be considered my error, due to "improper care after being pressed" That is just ludicrous. Especially since this comment comes months after my initial posting, when originally (the day before our wedding) I'd tried to contact them directly via email and was met with no response. (See previous review) I know what type of service to expect from a reputable dry cleaner and this is not that kind of business. Here's my previous review: I'll let the photos I've posted speak for themselves. Simply put, on 11/15/13 I paid $102.84 for a "press only" job on my wedding dress. (This review is posted after the incident because I just signed up for Yelp on 2/28/14, in case you're wondering) I should mention that J's had nothing to do with the dress except that it's where I took it to have it pressed after alterations based on the recommendation of a friend of a friend who did the same. After calling to inform them that the dress was more wrinkled when I picked it up than when I dropped it off they did offer to redo it, only they could not do it outside their location, and they would not give me a refund. Since we had a rehearsal and then the rehearsal dinner to go to in a few hours, (we were already at the hotel), and I did not trust them with the dress at this point anyway, (not to mention I needed it the next day and was not interested in dealing with that) I declined their offer to redo the press job. Luckily the hotel was able to bring up a steamer and my sister corrected the situation herself. I emailed J's Tailor the photos I posted here along with my complaint immediately after speaking with them over the phone that day so that I could show them what the dress looked like although I never received a response or follow-up afterwards. I will not be doing business with them again and will not recommend them to anyone for any service. That was a $102 mistake. read more

They are a specialty cleaner so they are priced within the realm of the likes of Bibbentuckers and Dee & Hattie. Jay and his staff also do excellent work on alterations. I checked out J's and have never looked back!!! The quality is just unparalleled. The service is phenomenal from every single employee. Even alterations and some pretty complicated changes to wedding outfits were a breeze for them. They have never said no to a request! It really is unbelievable. Terrible service. Terrible business. Terrible Management. Took a nice button up here and was told that my shirt was damaged. The person who called me then asked if I wanted this patched. I thought it would be free of charge since THEY ruined my button up. Nope. They said they would charge me $20 to patch my shirt. I declined. When I arrived to pick everything up, the manager or owner tried to tell me that my button up was too small for their machine. She compared my button up to a "Ladies shirt". My shirt size is as generically sized for any male in their 30's. I took this particular button up 7 times to this business over a 4 year period. Never had an issue. When THEY mess up, they tried to charge me money to fix it AND blame the size of my button up. Wouldn't bother going here if you want excuses when they F*&K up your clothes and not even compensate you. I give this place a BIG FAT 0/10. read more

I have been coming to J's for almost 2 years now for both dry cleaning and tailoring and everything is always fantastic and exceeds my expectations. They are careful and organized with their dry cleaning. You will rarely have chipped buttons or any other problems like a lot of the other places around town. They have a quick turn around and always put everything on the correct hanger. Sue is always at the front desk saying hello to everyone by name with a smile as they walk in the door. Sue and all the tailors are masters of their craft and know exactly what they are doing. They will tell you if what you want can be done and will be honest about managing your expectations. I picked up my floor-length crocheted black dress from J's and have been wearing it around my house for the past couple of hours...I could not be happier with the alteration and now I just can't seem to take it off! It's soo hot!! I've been using J's for alterations for around 4 years, and I have literally never had a complaint. Not even one alteration-gone-wrong. Pretty impressive, right? They do fabulous work, and will accommodate you if you need something altered pronto. I've taken in blazers that were meant to fit someone twice my size and that basically needed to be recreated-- they look amazing now, like they were made for me! Just as an FYI, sometimes you have to be persistent when it comes to asking for something specific to be done. For example, I recently took a pencil skirt in that needed to be altered to where it fit higher on the waist. When I put it on, Jay tugged it down and told me it fit, that it didn't need to be altered. I explained that I wanted it higher up, but he said it couldn't be done. Sometimes you have to ask them if there is anything they can do to make it fit the way you want it to fit. They are the experts, so tell them the problem ("it needs to be tighter/it needs to fit higher up") and ask them how to fix it, don't say, "it needs to be taken in right here." I think they just like to come up with the solution based on their expertise :) And they obviously know best bc Ive loved everything they've done! Overall, J's is my go-to for alterations. As a warning, they are pricey. I can't take my dry cleaning there anymore bc I have too much of it and it got too expensive. But for alterations, it is definitely worth the price, bc they do excellent work. If price is a concern of yours, ask them how much it will cost when you drop it off. That way, they won't charge extra bc it turned out to be a difficult alteration, and you won't be surprised when you pick up. read more

This is the worst place in Dallas. The ladies who work here are extremely rude and disrespectful. They act like everything if your fault and your problem and take no responsibility or willingness to fix their mistakes. Additionally, they have ruined very many nice pieces of mine including my bridesmaid dress for my sisters wedding and a very expensive pair of pants that I can no longer wear. They refuse to do very simple changes such as letting out a seam or hem. They will tell you they cannot fix something and then you'll take it somewhere else and they say they can fix it no problem. Not to mention the RIDICULOUS prices. I would discourage anyone from going to J Tailor. There are certainly much better tailors/cleaners in Dallas read more

I was missing a button on the sleeve of my Dior jacket today and I ran in this afternoon because I was frantic. Sue immediately came out and found a spare in the stash of black buttons they had on hand. Sue is very practical, hands-on, no nonsense, gets the job done and fast, and delivered to my home within a week. No additional charge for delivery. But what I like best is their great hours for working people - they open at 7am and close at 7pm, so I can run in before going to work or after work, if I have a clothing emergency. Saturdays are very accommodating hours too: 7am to 6pm. Love the alterations service. read more

Awful. Seriously AWFUL. I thought that this would be a good place to drop my stuff, since it is right around the corner from my office building. I took two cotton short work dresses that needed simple hems, and one evening dress. Later that day, after I dropped them off, the alterations lady called to tell me that the evening dress was going to be too expensive because they had to take out boning on the dress. She said, at least $100. So I told her no, since I had told her while she was pinning me that Tootsie's said $80, so I would just take it back to Tootsie's since that is what they quoted me when I bought the dress. I went today to pick up the two other simple dresses and she charged me $211 for two cotton dresses! I asked her why she didn't just quote me those also, because if I said no to the evening dress being $100, I probably would have said no to the regular dress being $100. She said, "YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED!" I was shocked. I asked to speak to the manager, and she said she was the manager. (which I doubt, but if she is, wow.). Honestly- I have been going to Vu's Tailors my whole life, he is such a great guy and does impeccable, IMPECCABLE work. I shouldn't have tried to go anywhere else. I also told the lady at J's I would take it up with American Express since she wouldn't agree to meeting me anywhere in the middle (i.e. take off $50 from the total bill), and she walked away and said take it up with them then. Really the worst service ever. To top it all off, she took out all of the pins in the evening dress- ones that Tootsie's had put in prior to me even coming to them, and in the process tore a string in my evening dress. read more

Not a place for very delicate items. I brought my wedding dress here because I needed the straps shortened and the bottom hemmed. It was a recommendation from Bella Bridesmaid where I purchased it. When I went back to try it on, the hem was fine, but I noticed the straps were puffing up in one spot. They are cap sleeves so it was obvious. I wish I could add a picture. It was overlapped and stitched on top of the shoulder. I pointed it out, and the tailor just pushed it down with her hand and said, "It's ok, that is how I had to do it." Then she stood in silence. I paid for it and left because I didn't trust them to fix the mistake. I ended up taking it to a place that deals only with wedding dresses. read more

This place looks very nice, but the customer service is terrible. I got one dress altered and it cose $75 for a pretty simple alteration. Yet they didn't tell me this until I picked up the dress, and when I was surprised by the price, the lady rudely responded "You never asked." They did a decent job, but they need to be nicer to their customers. Although the price is outrageous, I would have been okay with it if they handled it nicely instead of being so snotty. read more

For the second year in a row, they did not alter the hems of our school uniform skirts correctly.
