J's is excellent. Extremely good sushi and chicken teriyaki. Also, Choi (one of the owners) is friendly and entertaining :)

Why have I not been here before??? Probably because it's out of view, hidden behind a Wendy's. Too bad as so many people could be missing out only because they didn't see it! The customer service is so on point. The owners are friendly and funny! They made us feel right at home. I had the spicy chicken teriyaki bowl and loved it. My son had the emperor roll sans salmon, He said it is now his favorite roll he's eaten in Salem, and that's saying a lot! We eat sushi at least weekly and we try to get to a different restaurant each time. The restaurant is small, but very clean and the food is delicious. We plan on becoming regulars here! read more

The food is excellent and the service is even better. The waitress, Choi, is funny and engaging while also very attentive. We got the gyoza, teriyaki bowl, shrimp yakisoba and shrimp tempura roll -- everything was delicious and good portion size for the price. Way better than love love teriyaki! read more

Best place in town! Great service and good pricing. The owners are very kind and will go out of their way to make you feel special. The spicy chicken is one of my favorites dishes and they do a great job with portion sizes. Their sushi is also some of the best I've had, is recommend the emperor roll. Awesome place~ big portions and awesome staff. First time I went in there me and my party got free gyoza on the house because the food was taking a bit, also free fountain drinks. We ended up coming back a dozen times over the last few visits and always got a nice smile and excellent service here and there. Any time we asked for something, like a substitution or special sauce here and there, they did their best to do it. Even went as far as to give me personal recommendations based on my pallate as she noticed patterns in my dining choices. A place with good food, and where they recognize your face and treat you like a customer is not common~ this is not a franchise owned Teriyaki place like Love Love~ it's a real restaurant. Katsu Danburi is interesting and yummy and the sushi here is surprisingly delicious. Check them out, they deserve a heck of a lot of business for their work ethic and quality. Don't expect a really fancy restaurant, it's not large or the best to eat in, but if you're looking for some quick teriyaki, a ton of food~ or something yummy to go for lunch, this is the place. :) read more

This is a great little family owned place, The lady behind the counter made me and my boyfriend laugh and she's all to eager to please her customers! She gave me a card for 10 items purchased you can get anything on the menu free. I've been there twice and had the teriyaki chicken, VERY good and the salad dressing they have is very nice and unique. I also had their phillidaelphia roll this time. Sushi is so fresh! What does it tell you when this place was shut down for a few days by the health authority a few years ago and I'm still giving it 5 stars? It's just that damn good. The best chicken teriyaki in town. Better than Love Love, better than Best Teriyaki, better than any other teriyaki joint. Although Salem area has a lot of Teriyaki restaurants this one is by far the best we've tried. Your meal comes with a side salad that has a home made citrus dressing that is amazing. The meat is very tender and flavorful. Prices are reasonable and the service is exceptional. read more

Js Teriyaki is a gem in the dining rough of Salem. The owners Jin and his wife Choi are wonderful people who feel it is more important to feed people than make money! Their prices are great, they have great food and are super friendly!! They now know our entire family and we are welcomed with hugs. My daughter used to work at Blockbuster close by and would call in her order and Choi recognized her voice and called her by name every time! We love this place and love them!! Keep it local people!! Disappointed after reading so many rave reviews. Good service, but you get what you pay for food-wise. Food was not very good, although it was cheap. Overcooked rice, mushy filling in egg rolls, teriyaki not very teriyaki. Wish them well, but will not be back. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting! The food was OK tasting, not bad at all. But it took a long time to serve despite the few customers. and everything was sticky! I have a high tolerance for poor sanitation, My stomach is iron clad. My parents, my four children and I stumbled upon this place two days ago and were so happy we did! The lady helping us went out of her way to make sure we had a pleasurable lunch and as we left she offered little gifts to my children. The kids all agreed they would love to go back anytime as they all found favorite foods, and that definitely doesn't happen often. My father is vegetarian and had no trouble finding something he loved. Some of us had the yakisoba noodles, some the teriyaki and rice, and my sons shared orders of California rolls and chicken teriyaki rolls (yum). We all loved it so much we went back for lunch today and took my husband along this time. The lady there was happy to see us back and again went out of her way to give us a great experience. My husband loved the salmon rolls and we all really enjoyed the vegetable tempura (asparagus is my personal fav). Besides the service and great food, we are delighted with the price. Our meals ranged from $4.95 to $8.95 at the most, and that one was a lot of food so we ended up sharing it. She gave us a punch card so since we had so many of us both times we ended up getting a free meal on the second visit. We will definitely be frequent customers. read more
