It's the best teriyaki and yakisoba in Salem and it's not even close. We've been going here for years and I'm worried the owners are going to retire eventually and I will be left searching for a new place. My only comment is that the yakisoba is strong on the black pepper, but that's how I like it. I will say the owner who runs the cash register and brings your food is almost comically gruff. He seems like he would rather be anywhere else. Doesn't bother me since the food is really all I care about. I just find it funny. I stopped by on a Monday around 11:15 am. It was quiet and peaceful inside, with a nice Japanese vibe. Only one person was dining in, but quite a few people were ordering to go, like I was. I went with the teriyaki chicken and the pork Katsu. Both came with white rice and a salad. I had heard good things about their egg rolls, so I got a side of two. In about 10-15 minutes I had my food and was on the way home. The teriyaki chicken was delicious, with a tasty sauce and good-sized portions. The salads were pretty good. The pork Katsu had good flavor and the katsu sauce was fruity and sweet. The pork was a tad dry. The steamed white rice was standard, but tasty. The egg rolls were good; rich and crispy, they came with sweet and sour sauce packets. This is a good, standard teriyaki place, with a nice, quiet atmosphere. Tried a place that was close to my customer. In a strip mall and small but a good number of tables and booths for sit down. Seems to be a mom and pop place. I ordered the shrimp with vegetable tempura which is how it is listed. I was shocked cause the shrimp were panko breaded so definitely pre-made frozen. In regards to the veggies all e kept onion seemed to be made then. The onions seemed like the type you'd get at a fast food place so pretty sure pre-made too. I'm going to keep this short and simple because that's what this meal is. Ordered the chicken teriyaki to go. Midweek around lunch time. Several people inside which was nice to see. Got my food pretty quick almost to quick which makes me think the chicken is already cooked and they just reheat it. Honestly that's kind of what it tasted like because it seemed a bit dry. The rice was ok. I wish they would offer veggies with it. I prefer a thicker teriyaki sauce. Also wish they would offer other sauces like sweet chili and chili garlic. For the price these days it's fair. It does come with a basic side salad with some sort of poppyseed dressing. Pretty damn good place with the typical dishes. The egg rolls are off the hook though. In all honesty, my last meal from here were just the egg rolls. I dunno what it is but they are so good. Pretty quick in prep and service. We've gotten To-go and dined in. Not disappointed at all. Ambiance is good. Just a small mom & pop restaurant with good variety in their menu. I had spicy pork (T7) which had plenty of flavor and just the right amount of heat. We ordered the spicy pork, chicken teriyaki, combo plate of beef and chicken, all came with rice and salad, order of gzoya's, and side of vegetables. The order was ready in about 15 minutes and we are very happy with the food! It was fresh and delicious! Spicy pork definitely spicy and flavorful, teriyaki chicken tender and yummy. I feel the need to update my review. I was right; my last order was more to blame than the food that was offered. Since that last visit, I have stopped by much more often. Part of this is helped that my union hall is right down the street, so this makes a convenient lunch location during Labour/Management meetings. I have taken to ordering the beef yakisoba and a side of fried rice. I really would like the option to substitute the white sticky rice with fried rice, so I don't have to pay an extra 3.5 dollars or so for it, but I can't complain about the yakisoba itself. The noodles are great, the meat is plentiful, although...and I find it odd that I'd ever make this statement ever....it seems like they skimp on the vegetables. I like broccoli in my my food....and the last few times I've went, I've found one little piece of broccoli. A few carrots. Lots of mush rooms....and some watercress. Now, it's hard to argue with getting a huge plate of noodles and beef. But some other texture would actually be nice. I don't want it overloaded, just a mixture. Still, I can't argue how much I crave this meal. I pretty much hit it ever Monday on my lunch break now. So....I guess that's as good a review for a placea s you can get. read more

This is my favorite teriyaki place in Salem. I've had the food here many times for multiple years, and it's always consistently delicious. The service is also fantastic. I used to always order a teriyaki chicken bowl. The chicken is always cooked to perfection, the rice has the perfect slightly sticky texture, and the sauce has great flavor. I'm now addicted to their yakisoba. It's the best I've had in Salem. I could eat it every day for the rest of my life. The prices are good. This is a solid teriyaki place. I've driven by for a while now and finally decided to give it a try. I called my order in and like magic when I showed up 10min later it was ready and waiting for me. Had the chicken teriyaki bowl, the portion was good about 1 1/2C rice with 6oz of grilled chicken. What really impressed me was the quality of the chicken. One star because the staff was very friendly and one star because the establishment was very clean. But that is all I can give . The chicken katsu was over cooked and smothered in plum sauce. The salad dressing; which I think was ranch, had separated and all of the oil and spices were on the bottom. The teryaki beef was dry and stringy. Unfortunately this place is two doors down from my salon. I eat here multiple times a week. I have one thing to tell you: EGG ROLL. Ah-maz-ing. I love their chicken yakisoba. YUM. The place looks like nothing on the outside but surprisingly inside it is very clean and pleasant, with nice restrooms. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the pork teriyaki and tofu noodle dish. The pork was tender though strongly seasoned and I recommend asking them to go light on the sauce or put it on the side. The tofu was lightly fried and had a nice firm texture and flavor. The rice was freshly cooked and perfect. You never know how old fried rice could be but both our dishes came with fresh white rice. The salad that the teriyaki came with was just iceberg lettuce, but it was quite fresh and served with a nice light though cream-based dressing. Our two dinners and sodas came to around $22. We will certainly look forward to coming back for a nice late lunch/early dinner at this convenient location. read more

The place is pretty good overall but I have had better. Some of the noodles were stuck together some of the vegetables wasn't all that great that meat in the sauce though was very good.
