They are extremely knowledgeable, professional, polite and pleasant, and I believe they provide excellent, efficient service. The prices are high, but I can't say myself if they are out of line with similarly competent mechanics. They do insist on doing a full diagnostic test any time you come in, and, of course, recommend other maintenance that, not being a mechanic myself, is always incomprehensible to me. I understand the justification for doing that, but I seriously doubt any customer wants to hear you need one thing when you came in for another. This service garage is wrought with issues. Mostly due to high turn around of employees who I suspect are pressured into price gouging. I've seen it for over 12 years now. I only use them for emergencies due to this as I live nearby and yesterday's was a hoot. Nail in tire, losing air. Replacement needed. Autostreams price 400$ (For ONE TIRE) Toyota's price: 282$ The guys at Toyota got a good laugh. Again. And once again it was upsetting because they do it so often. I wonder if it's mostly with women?? When I had my previous car, they changed the oil and ambitiously came up with a 2500$ report on what my car needed. They didn't know it was already up to date with Toyota for major maintenance. They said I needed a $250 part that my car didn't even have!!! Toyota looked it over AFTER Autostreams "report". Toyota debunked all of it and I took it up to Autostream to explain. That was awkward and infuriating as they couldn't explain my need for the ghost part nor the broken wiper (that wasn't broken) nor the need for $$$ shocks that werent due ect. I was offered some cheap coupons as good faith. Never used. Those employees are also gone now; they never last. They got another female friend for so much money by convincing her she needed her Jeep's throttle body cleaned too many times in 1.5 years with low mileage. Totally unneeded. She fell for it each time $280-300 Super expensive. Awful. Shy away from this place unless it's to have them put air in your tires for a 5 spot or you have cash to simply throw away If management wants to reach me about this, I'm glad to review it all! read more

Over the last 20 years, I'd use them if in a "pinch". However, we just took our car there for a tire and it was 100 bucks more than other places. I've found that inflated pricing is pretty consistent in terms of costs. Also, expect to be told that there are more unrelated services needed to your vehicle. There's quite a lot of turnover with staff and mechanics, which indicates a larger problem. Instead, I've used Sherwood Auto Services on Sherwood Rd, in Baltimore (Northwood) with much better results. I recommend them as a better option. read more

PRICE GAUGE. Engine light went on during recent trip to the area. I took car in with engine code diagnosis in hand knowing what the issue was ($200 charge to diagnose the issue I knew about going in). Knowing I was from out of town, AutoStream completely overcharged me for a simple job nearly doubling the price of parts: $58 spark plugs that retail for $33 (that's IF they used the those plugs that my car most likely does not need). Type of plug used is not on the bill or verbalized to me. $181/hour in labor IF the job took 4 hours. Job time is not indicated on bill: just a $725 labor charge. Nice enough but very hard to believe changing spark plugs and oil should set me back $1400. read more

Great customer service! I was worried about a low tire .. within a few minutes they checked all my tires and assured me that they were fine and the high heat affects the tires at times. Over charge you worse than a dealership. They over charge on parts as well as labor. Tye service representative Joe Jones is rude and should not be in the customer service industry. They constantly over charge and recommend work that is not needed. It always something new with them when you bring your vehicle back to them. Autostream gave a different list but they assured it was the right thing. Several thousand dollars I spent. Went back several times because the dash lights kept coming back on. Went to another car place who said "wherever you were going, they didn't know what they were doing" kept needing to get stuff fixed on parts that autostream "fixed" and the most hilarious thing, coming from someone who doesn't know a lot about cars. I just left this gas station and am furious. Was shopping for fix-a-flat with my father. We went inside and found it. No price tag on the can. The cashier scanned it then claimed it wasn't ringing up but her manager had advised to call him if this happened. She fumbled with her phone (texting manager??) for a quick 3 seconds then declared her manager said the price was $20. Overpriced for sure. So I said - flat? No tax? She replied - It's $20 total. We left without purchasing and went to BP Mobile at the corner of Reisterstown and Old Court. The exact can was there (w/ the price displayed) for $12.99. My daughter got in to JH, and so I gave her my old volvo her junior for school. One day she called and said when she turns she hears a clicking sound up front. (classic cv joint). Brought it here and they stated struts needed to be replaced , so i paid the 2300. When she picked up the car, she was too embarrassed to call and let me know the same sound is there. So she is home and we brought it to the volvo dealer(who has always serviced it). Issue 1, i had new struts put in at 86K, it has 110K now. Yes indeed it was the drivers side cv joint. Their European expert is not as such, and not sure why i ever approved them to do the work. Just be careful cause they like to do high price non needed work.(and dont fix whats really needed) read more

On Saturday, November 11th I took my car to AutoStream because it was making a horrible noise and they were close by. I was told the power steering hose/line leaked and that there were metal shavings throughout the system. The repair was $2100. I did some research and found that my car (2007 Suzuki XL7) was known for having power steering problems. I told this to Gary and he assured me that my car was otherwise okay and he recommended I get the repair done. On Monday, November 13th I called my regular mechanic, Kenny at Adams Auto Company, and his estimate was $600 cheaper. He also suggested that I not get the repair done because Suzuki's aren't made in the US any more so parts are hard to come by and expensive. When I picked my car up from AutoStream Monday night I had a bill for $135 for looking at the car, which nobody mentioned at any point during my many conversations with Katherine or Gary and the estimate had an additional $3700 worth of work that was recommended to be done immediately. So, either Gary lied to me about my car being "otherwise okay" or the $3700 estimate was a lie. Going to unknown mechanics is daunting to say the least, downright frightening to say the worst. Especially for a woman. I really wanted for things to work out with AutoStream because they are so close. I will continue to take my vehicle 45 minutes away to Kenny because trust is everything. FYI: I did sell my car and got a new one just like Kenny suggested and I could not be happier. read more

I was looking for a new mechanic in Baltimore and had gone to a few places that I didn't love, so I am so beyond happy to have found AutoStream! They are TRUSTWORTHY, kind, wonderful at what they do, and really do care about their customers. They do try to find the best price out there and do the best work. I love my car, and they took great care of it to get it ready to register in Maryland. They made me feel comfortable and heard (which I hate to say is usually hard to find as a woman- especially when dealing with cars). They sent a link with pictures and information about my cars inspection and even called to go over it on top of going over it all in person. If you care about your car, this is the place to go. Sean goes above and beyond and I am so grateful for his work and kindness. Everyone who works there is so kind and knowledgeable. I had a great experience with Auto Stream. I needed to get my car inspected for my recent move to Baltimore MD. The inspection itself was only 70$. Also I was working 8AM to 430PM at the time and had no way of fitting into their schedule since their hours are 8-5. So Terri, the front desk staff person, said that was no problem and that I could just drop my car off after work with the connected Shell station and take the loner vehicle. They took care of everything while I was at work. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is the price. After they inspected it, I ended up having to spend 824$ to fix repairs to MD standards. I didn't have time to shop around for better prices since I was due to register my vehicle the following week. So I do not know if that price would have been the same everywhere or not. However, they were very helpful, convenient, and fast. I recommend them. read more

After I left I had very serious error message so I took it back to them the next morning. They resolved the issue with no charge and since I do some of my own car work the mechanics gave me some great advice about maintenance advice specific to my car make and model. AutoStream was able to provide same-day service for a tire patch, but it was $59.35!! It had to be done and with it's convenient location, I went for it. But wow...that's a LOT to ask for just a patch and re-balance. I will not be returning solely based on the cost. Outside of the high prices, the patch held and they were easy to work with. read more

I just recently hit a pothole and popped my tire. I have an IS300 so everything on my car is pricey including the tires. I called AutoStream to check prices of tires and to see if they would be able to put my tire on the same day. A lot of places haven't been able to do same day and have been ridiculous in price. I spoke to David on the phone, great customer service. He was very nice and informative. Their tire prices are also very good. I found them on yelp and decided to give them a try and I'm glad I did. I was able to pay over the phone so they were able to order the tire right away. I made an appointment for two hours later. When I went to the shop it is connected to a gas station so just look out for shell. It's in a little shopping center. Tim was the gentleman at the front desk. He was very nice. I then spoke to David as well, again great customer service. This is a nice convenient shop. I will definitely recommend them for their customer service, speedy service and great prices. And I was able to get 10% off as well by checking in. read more

They target and overcharge women. They took apart my entire car in an attempt to charge me more when all I needed was a battery. My car was completely dead and needed to be towed there, they charged me $400 for a 'special battery' and when I questioned them they said there was nothing they could do. They ordered the battery before I got an estimate or gave permission for them to do so. They lied to me about the status of my car. When my father called afterwards, they agreed it was a steep price and gave me $75 back. That is still $325 for a battery! I was clearly targeted as a young woman, and I recommend that no one goes there. They overcharge and lie. read more

I took my car to the AutoStream shop in Columbia, MD to have an oil change. I was informed that I needed a serpentine belt replacement among other minor repair recommendations. I chose to have the serpentine belt replaced. I wasn't satisfied with the service in Columbia and noted this in my previous review. The General Manager, David, contacted me to apologize for my inconveniences and ask that I allow him the opportunity to resolve the car issues I was experiencing. I agreed to take my car to the Pikesville, MD location where Allen was extremely helpful. The guys in Pikesville worked hard to diagnose the root of the issue, allowed me to use a loaner while they repaired my car, and used their expertise to completely fix my car. Amazing service! AutoStream Baltimore is connected to the Shell gas station, so the entrance can be a bit hard to find. However, when I walked in the door, I was instantly greeted by the manager and the assistant. They were friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and honest. When I dropped off my car in the morning, I had nothing to worry about because the staff were helpful when answering all of my questions and very attentive. They kept me updated on the status of my car throughout the day, and let me know what I really needed. I came in for new brakes because I was told by another shop that I needed them, but AutoStream let me know that my brakes were actually fine. It's comforting to know that they weren't trying to get me to pay for a service that I really didn't need. They also asked if they could do an inspection to check for any other issues, which was great because my car was already in the shop, so why not? In the end, I only needed a few filters and brake fluid changed, and I was able to pick up my car by the end of day. Overall, I'm very pleased with this auto shop because they not only have great customer service, but they are also reasonably priced! Here is a copy of the review of my service experience that I submitted to Auto Stream directly: Message: I have mixed feelings about my experience with my recent service. First the good news. The people were very courteous and friendly. They accomodated my needs to get my car serviced the same day since I need my car for Uber driving. The not so good news is that I came in for front brakes and they notified me that there were over $6000 of repairs that were needed. We settled on doing about $2200 worth. Well, I feel that I must have had "sucker"written on my forehead because after the work was done I checked the bill and found that I was severely over charged. $487 for front brakes, $603 to replace a power steering hose, and $798 to replace the radiator. Absolutely outrageous. I checked around afterwards (should have done that before) and found that Autostream's prices were about double what others would charge. To add insult to injury, I had to bring the car back 2 times for them to redo the front brakes which were defective, causing me to lose 2 days of income. All in all, I would not use their service again because I feel that they ripped me off. Here is a copy of their response to me: Hello Mr. Xxxxxx. Hope all is well. I read your response regarding our service and I am sorry that you feel the way that you do. AutoStream will never be the least expensive auto repair facility and we pride ourselves on being a dealer alternative. The dealer is our only competition. No other auto repair facility has the combination of ASE Certified techs and technology that we have. We value you as a longtime customer and we would hate to lose you over what you perceive as unfair treatment and price gouging. I feel that some things need to be clarified if I may do so. We offer a Lifetime warrant on non wearable parts. Only a few of our parts vendors allow us to offer such a warranty. With that being said, your Thermostat housing and Power Steering Return hose fall under this warranty. The breaks are covered 2 years/24k miles, so that if you have any issues with the brakes that we installed, you are covered. I closing we DO value your business here Mr. Xxxxxx and I invite you to have the dealer build the exact same quote for the work that we most recently performed on your vehicle. If the dealer is less than what you paid us, I would be more than glad to offer you store credit for the difference. Recently had some break work done there. They got me in and out quick. Mangers are very professinal and courteous. Seems like everyone there cares about their job and respects each other which makes for a good customer experience. Having car work done is never pleasant but at least there they don't make you feel worse about your circumstance. They try to help the best they can and stand by their work. I definitely recommend them and you should definitely give them a try if you need some work done especially if you are unhappy with folks you normally see and are tired the same crappy service that many to most auto repair shops give you. read more

Holy. Effin. Crap. These guys are awesome! My appt was at 11am, I called them at 1 and said I'd be there in 20 mins. I showed up at 245 and they still took me and my amazon local voucher. This already was saving me over half my money for an allignment, balance, and rotate. After the allignnent, the mechanic noticed my tie rod end was loose so he offered to tighten it up- which caused the need for another allignment, which they didn't even charge me for! Overall the work was quick, and quality was awesome. The guys were really nice and helpful and I'll not use another mechanic as long as I'm in baltimore. read more

Horrible experience with a basic repair of power steering belt replacement. Went back several times since the replacement belt squeaked. The first two times I went back, said they would tighten the belt. The third time, they said the first belt was defective and replaced it. A year later, I took the car to a friend's father who identified that the replacement belt was cheaply made, separating at the seam. Auto stream charged a few hundred dollars which was excessive. A year later, I had an OEM belt installed for half the price. Additionally, was quoted $200 to replace the cabin air filter. I was able to buy a new air filter on Amazon for $15 and replace it myself in 10 minutes. Overall, exorbitant prices for unreliable parts. Staff is friendly but don't let that fool you. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I arrived at 8am for my 8am appointment. I was the first customer there. I merely came for an oil change, tire rotation and balancing deal I got from Groupon. I was instructed to grab a bite to eat from the nearby cafe and my car would be finished. When I returned 45 minutes later not only was my car not finished but the mechanic was working on another car and as new customers pulled in the other associates began to help other customers even inspecting their problems in the parking lot. When asked about my vehicle, the manager just blue me off saying that it was being worked on. Ultimately, it took an hour and a half for something that i arrived early for which could have been done in far less time. Combine this with the fact that they're very pricey and it's just not worth it. Too many auto repair shops around to go through this. FIND ANOTHER SHOP! read more

I had a great experience today at AutoStream. Very thorough service. Didn't push me to fix extra things. Catherine was so friendly and explained everything to me. I only have 2 small complaints. 1) my low tire pressure light was on prior to my appt. they did not put air in my tires. (However, I didn't ask) 2) they didn't wipe down my steering wheel or gear shift. So it was a bit dirty. But I wiped it down. So not that big of a deal. I went to fix my AC system. I had a very bad experience. I don't think they know what they are doing. They said they did an evac and recharge and said the AC is blowing ice-cold air. They didn't find any immediate leaks. They told me the AC system passed the leak test. I went to pick up my car and there was no cold air, leave alone icy cold. It was just same. I had to talk them into giving me a refund. I took my car to another place. They found a big leak right-away and they suspected if any evac and recharge was done at all in the first place. read more
