I ultimately gave this place two stars out of five, and I genuinely debated giving only one. The only reason it isn't one star is because the staff are at least very friendly and welcoming. At first, I felt relieved to find a location close to where my elderly mother lives, and I hoped it might be a trustworthy option since other residents in her retirement community go there. I could immediately see why people feel comfortable: the friendliness is noticeable right away. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for me to start feeling uneasy... During routine visits for my mother's car, I noticed significant upselling and costs that seemed far higher than expected. For example, she paid around $120 for a cabin filter replacement that I later learned is often closer to $30 for her type of vehicle. That was the moment I realized I no longer felt comfortable trusting their recommendations, and I decided I would not bring her car back. I briefly considered giving them another chance with my own car, hoping the earlier experience had been a one-off. When I called about a simple headlight replacement (after already researching the exact part and repair) I was told they had to see the vehicle in person and was quoted an extremely wide range of $80 to nearly $500. I chose to go elsewhere and had the same repair completed for $40. I also found the volume of follow-up emails and maintenance reminders excessive and pressure-filled rather than helpful. Trust matters when it comes to car care--especially for older customers. Based on my experiences, I do not recommend this location and would encourage others to proceed with caution. read more

I had Never used this place before today. But I would definitely use this place again. I was in a real situation when my tire blew out before I got to work. I saw this place listed along with my other AAA options. I was a little sad that they were not open on weekends, but hope they could fit me in today to get a run flat put on my vehicle. So I crossed my fingers and sent the tow truck w the vehicle to their location. I called them ahead of time and let them know the situation and asked them to please fit me in so that I could be back on the road by the time they closed. Having to go all weekend without my vehicle would not be ideal. They stayed in communication and were very courteous over the phone and I was able to take an Uber from work to the shop to get my vehicle back. Apparently they also will come get you if you are local. read more

AutoStream in Hampden (the former Brentwood) is the place that takes regular care of my car. They're always excellent. The staff are friendly and professional. After the inspect my car, they send a list of everything they checked with recommendations, and then I talk over the recommendations with one of the technicians. In my experience, they have always been fair and honest. They take great care of my car. I love that I live within walking distance, but they always have a shuttle service if you need a lift to or from the shop. read more

After I had a horrific experience with both Acura of Elliott City and Honda of Owings Mills, my friend recommended this place for servicing my car. I have a 2014 Acura RLX. I took my car to the fellas at AutoStream Car Care Center knowing EXACTLY what I needed for my car. My AC wasn't working, it was a connectivity issue with the battery connecting cables. I KNEW this for sure because I purchased 2 batteries within the past 2 years, couldn't be the battery. Additionally, I've done a ton of research on YouTube before going. My appointment was set for 8:00am. By 11:00am they were calling to let me know the issue and followed up with a video and report to illustrate what they were saying. I needed new connecting cables for my battery, as I thought. Unlike the Acura dealer of Ellicott City or the Honda dealer of Owing Mills, they listed to my concerns and went from there. The part for my AC needed to be ordered, the cost of the part, almost $800 bucks. I called around on my own to different Acura dealers in Maryland, Virginia, and PA to confirm this is the part I needed, the limited availability and the cost. Everything the folks at AutoStream Car Care Center told me was true! I was sold! Lifetime customer here! I returned just one month later for an oil change. I plan to return for more car maintenance in the next few months. FYI, there is a car service available to take you home while your car is being serviced. There's also rental car services available while waiting for servicing. I have no experience with this but heard someone request one while I was waiting. We have a 2015 Subaru, purchased from a Subaru dealership a less than 8 weeks ago, it's only been serviced at Subaru dealerships, and had its 90k mile service the week we purchased it. There are sensors for every bulb, belt, tire, etc to alert us when anything is wrong or needs to be replaced. It's in immaculate condition for a 2015. We're new to Maryland, and brought our car in for the state inspection ($130). They called us to say 2 bulbs ($4 each) were out, and it will be $150 to replace them, and they'll be ripping off our parking pass because they say it cannot be anywhere in your windows. The parking pass was placed where the residential parking authority told us to place it, bottom left of your windshield, on the driver's side. I even took the time to call the city of Baltimore Parking Authority office to verify before posting this review. To be frank, I'm not convinced any bulb was out before it arrived. None of the sensors were alerting. The total bill is $303 for a state inspection and to replace two $4 bulbs... feels like highway robbery to me. While state standards must be met overcharging and destroying our parking pass was entirely unnecessary. Given the opportunity, we could've removed the pass without damaging it and replaced the bulbs, but they wouldn't let us do either in their shop. And if we took it out of the shop at all we'd have to pay them a second time for the state inspection. This sort of experience is the kind that makes people distrust mechanics. read more

They tried to fail it because of a " dented battery terminal". After I asked to see the terminal, I saw no dents and then magically the wiring now tightened easily. Total bs. RUNNNN!!!! read more

They let me know exactly what the issues were and the cost. They also let me know that my brakes and spark plugs will need to be changes in the near future, but not just yet. I took my car in on a Friday afternoon and they let me know the estimated cost of parts and labor within 2-3 hours. They needed to order a part and were able to give me a loaner vehicle for the weekend. My car is running great and I have the knowledge of upcoming services that may potentially be required in the next 3-9 months. My girlfriend and I had previously used them for oil changes and tire changes and were impressed with their professionalism and efficiency then as well. Overall a hardworking, trustworthy, considerate 5 star team. Ask them about their rewards system too. Repeat customers can build up points to help pay for their services. I just to moved to Maryland and had to get my used car inspected. For those who don't know, MD has a one time complete inspection of your vehicle, that you must have before you can get it registered. I heard it is nothing more than a money maker for car repair shops and they will find multiple problems with your vehicle and then of course offer to fix it at their shop. WELL that was NOT the experience I had with my 8 year old car. No I did not pass inspection but I was not surprised at the two items they found. And they could not fix it at their shop. So obvious not a money making scheme at Brentwood. I would highly recommend them to anyone new to Maryland and not sure where to go. These guys was efficient and honest! My husband took his car to these guys for years with no problems. We live literally down the street so it's convenient. In early January I needed an oil change and tried to save my husband some time by taking it to them. No problem, just a simple oil change (so I thought). They were quick, it was $ 81- I chatted with Mike. Friendly service all good and I could walk to get my car and drop it off. A few days later I keep smelling a very persistent smell, like gasoline fumes. I keep thinking what is this?? My husband assures me, it's probably just solvent or something no biggie. Turns out one of the techs left the OIL CAP OFF and it fell off somewhere into my engine. I was driving to and from Baltimore ( 45 miles each way) without any oil. AWESOME. I had also planned a trip to NYC and had a hunch something wasn't right with Ginger McKenna Rothstein, my car. We decided to pay for an Enterprise rent a car and I am so glad I did. Otherwise I might've ended up blown up on the Jersey turnpike (what a way to go). I don't make a fuss I just bring the car back, they clean the engine and do another oil change this time leaving the cap on. Mike assures me that he can have it ready before I leave for NY and he 'hates to see me spend money on a rental'. Here's the thing, he should've paid for the previous oil change, not just the damage control engine clean and second oil change. Alas, I will never bring my car here again regardless of convenience. We are moving soon and have already spent $ 1500 at Hilmuth in Clarksville because they are consummate professionals and take their time. Everyone has bad days, first days, or whatever. However a mistake like that could've and probably did damage my car (no I am not driving a Tesla but still) not to mention the engine could've caught fire. It tells me the technicians are rushed, sloppy, and not careful and that's scary when it comes to cars. I am all about promoting local businesses and I know they've been in business for forty years, but they lost our business and the chance of us telling anyone to go there in the Hampden area. read more

I just took my car to AutoStream for the first time. Had some brake issues but wanted to get an overall inspection as well. They had come recommended from a friend, but I didn't fully know what to expect: they are amazing! They were professional, kind, and candid. It also has to be said: their inspection service is just amazing. They sent me a link with all the items they looked at, and each item had a photo of MY car, sometimes annotated with drawings and notes to explain what I was looking at. They also had instructional videos for each item, so I knew what it does and why it's important. Overall, I was blown away by the experience. First, making the appointment was super easy. I selected the date/time, they confirmed via text. When I dropped off the car, I threw all of my keys in the bag. The service agent said "do you need anything on those keys?". Definitely did. My house keys were there. Save #1. While at home waiting for an update I got a text with a link that detailed every issue with my car as well as what was right with my car. Love that. Called the service agent who picked up right away, negotiated what services I would be getting done without hassle. Loved that too. Went to pick up my car, checking out was quick and easy. Car was positioned for forward driving which in that section of 41st street is clutch. After checking out, I sadly struggled to get my key back on my key chain. Service agent handled it. Save #2. Save #3 came as I was pulling out onto the street. I don't know why I didn't see the curb in front of me, I thought I was on the flat portion. I was not. A service agent rushed out and guided me onto the street safely and I was thankful. While the labor cost is higher than other places I've been to, the customer service you get is worth it. That's what will bring me back. Also, got an estimate for all of the recommended work which will be helpful for future visits. Great place. read more

I have taken my car here for a couple of years and always been happy with the service. Joe and Will were always very nice. Called to confirm my appointment that I made 5 days prior and was told that I wasn't in the books. He said there was no way he could fit me in. After pushing him he said he could check with the other guy, but was completely indifferent. In a very empty manner he asked if I wanted to call back. In no way was he interested in keeping me as a customer. I am very disappointed to see that customer service is already starting to suffer so soon after Will's retirement. At the end of the conversation I said I guess I need to find a new place to take my car from now on. He said ok and couldn't care less. read more

I had my car towed to AutoStream when it suddenly developed a disturbing noise that made me not want to drive it and make it worse. Even though I had not made an appointment, they looked at my car immediately. After checking out the noise (which according to Murphy's Law did not recur) they did a very thorough check of the entire car and found numerous safety and performance issues that needed to be addressed. Because the car is old and has high mileage, I elected to do only the safety issues at this time, and was not pressured in any way whatsoever to do the other items. AutoStream was completely professional and patient with me explaining the details of the work performed, and did not dismiss my concerns about the noise (still a mystery to me). My car was ready the next day which seemed pretty quick to me relative to the labor charges, but the mechanic stayed very late the first day to finish the repairs so I could have my car back the next day. Well, if you are 10 times "Best of Baltimore" Brentwood Auto, it's easy. When we left the city to move West, we took our Mazda3 for one final oil change and check-up. As a parting gift of sorts, we received a really nice ice scraper with the Brentwood logo and phone number emblazoned on its thick blue handle. Nice, I thought, but probably not very useful in Northern California. How wrong was I! A big winter storm blew in recently, dropping snow and hail and freezing rain in the Santa Cruz Mountains, so I dug the ice scraper out of storage and - sure enough! - Brentwood Auto saved the day yet again, allowing us to clean off the front and rear windshields before heading to work. Thanks, Brentwood! We hope that those ice scrapers are coming in handy this winter in Baltimore! read more

The only reason this gets 2 stars instead of 1 is that I must admit that they do good work in a timely fashion. OK, that's out of the way. Now why I will never go back: On the phone they quoted me $51 for a diagnostic, which ended up being more like $135 without my approval, all to tell me that I needed a new battery (for $115). Plus, when my boyfriend went to pick up my car they told him that "it seems like she really had no idea what she was talking about." Yeah, I grew up in my father's service station garage... I'm sure that comment had nothing to do with the fact that I am a woman. They won't be scamming or insulting us again. read more

I've had to get towed here twice to receive emergency services and I have nothing but good things to say. They have always been the most efficient, respectful, and effective shop I've worked with. I know nothing about cars, and I have always appreciated that they don't upsell me or take advantage of my inexperience. They always take the time to make a thoughtful and careful assessment of my vehicle to make sure it's taken care of properly rather than throwing stuff at the wall and hoping it sticks like some chains.
