Was in town with my family and my 6 year old got a flat while riding some of the local trails. The folks at JT were able to help me with a spare tube, and were also super flexible and allowed me to exchange it for a presta valve tube after I got home and realized the shrader valve was too big for the rim. Just came back from a 4 day biking/backpacking trip in Joshua Tree. On the way down there from San Francisco (presumably when we stopped to eat at night) somebody tried to steal my bike off the back off the vehicle and managed to f*%k my rim up and tweak my rear breaks. I didn't even notice it until we got into Joshua Tree. I figured I was screwed because JT, 29 Palms, and Yucca Valley never have a real bike shop and you have to drive all the way down to Palm Springs. But we found out by asking somebody at Coyote Corner that there is one now! So I headed over and much to my delight found that it was true. It's a little off the beaten path (it's back behind the post office on the left) but still downtown. Besides the fact that they fixed the bike up no problem at all, the owner of the place Jima was awesome. He has a ridiculous amount of knowledge of trails (on and off the map) in Joshua Tree National Park and even suggested an awesome place for us to camp out (Pushawalla Canyon near some awesome old mining sights). He had a map in there so he could show us right where it is. Bike problem solved, destination idea taken. Backpacking was amazing, biking was beautiful, and three days later on the way out of town met back up with Jima and we went on a mountain bike trail ride in Yucca Valley (in the Yucca Mesa section). Which was super rad in it's own right, plus you could see Pioneer Town. This place was awesome. Plus he said a few months down the line he's going to try and get a bike rental program setup, which after the 3rd time I've had something shitty happen to my bike either in transit to Joshua Tree or in Joshua Tree, I might just leave mine at hope and rent from there. 4 stars read more

I called and talked to Jima about the trails in the area and asked if he could set up a guide to take out our family of four for the day. We wanted to make sure we hit the best trails. Jima was very helpful, making sure we knew what types of trails we would be riding on. When we arrived he had Zachary ready to take us out to the section 6 trails. These were technical single track trails thru rocks and sandy dirt. Not much climbing. We lucked out and enjoyed stunning displays of spring wildflowers everywhere. Zachary was an awesome guide and a great rider. We were so happy to have him so we didn't take any wrong turns and enjoyed a variety of the fun trails. Highly recommend using him if you want to get the most out of your day of riding. Thanks guys! We hope to be back in the area again so we can enjoy more of your super fun trails! read more

I wanted to get a fat tire bike for my son, and Jima gave me great advice on how to pick out the right bike. He let us test ride his bikes on the local dirt roads, and gave us tips on technique and safety. He gave my bike a sweet tune up, showed us how to add slime to the tires, and talked about where to go for great local riding. I really wanted to like this place, mainly because it is the only option for serious bicycles in the High Desert. I walked into a disorganized garage with a few bikes in it and found a group of people talking; I can only assume the ones behind the counter worked there, because I received no other indication. I walked around this store with my wife and daughter for about five minutes and nobody said a word to us. I saw at least one employee (I think he was an employee) look right at me and not even recognize my existence. We looked at the bikes they had on display, occasionally looking over at the small mass of people who continued about their business as though we never walked in. We walked out, still without a word uttered in our direction. The only reason I gave a generous second star is that they had a bike I might have wanted to buy, at a reasonable price. They obviously didn't want to sell it to me that badly. I'm going to have to drive down to Palm Springs to do my bike shopping, but that's better than going back to this place. If you like to feel like a valued customer, this store is not for you. read more

I came in to get the rear tube replaced for my trek bike. Was able to get in and out for less than 10 mins. Very good customer service!!!! They showed me what causes the issue and how to prevent it from happening again. You can tell they are very passionate about what they do. I also bought a pump and it works fantastic!!! Lousy customer service. So disappointing. Brought my bike in for basic tune up for $50, Owner suggested tire liners for additional $20 which I agreed to. Picked up bike a week later but liners had been "forgotten". Anyway drove to LA for a ride/swim at the beach. When I went to lock the bike I saw my lock was missing. Called the shop and they had it. Was pretty unhappy as now I couldn't go lock it up and go down to the water for a swim. I suggested they could make it up to me by installing the liners "for free". They said they could but would charge me the $20! Wow. Screwed up twice and still don't want to make it right. Pitiful. Btw my bike had not needed any parts replaced. Essentially dusted it off and dry-lubed the chain, for $50. Thanks a lot JTBC. read more

I thought I was totally done when my bike was messed up right at the start of our week-long stay in Joshua Tree while on a road trip. JT Bicycle Shop not only helped me out, they stayed late to fix my bike. Mike's a wizard. The owner, Jima, also pointed out local single track riding and gave us some great tips on where to ride in the park as well. So nice to find a down-to-earth and well managed bike shop in such a small town. These guys are doing it right and I'd trust them with my bikes any day, which is not something I say about any shop! Tremendous job on tuning up and different repair jobs on the 5 bikes I've taken in. I live in Venice, wife in JT and I take my bikes here all the way from Venice because the work here is top notch. The woman who helped me was aware women need a different kind of anatomic seat and ordered perfect one to replace her uncomfortable fat saddle seat. Guys working here were knowledgeable and friendly, explained everything they did and were very accommodating. No better place in Joshua Tree or Yucca Valley. read more

I'm new to the area and I needed a new bicycle tire. Yelp helped me locate this bike shop and I was pleasantly surprised. The guy there (sorry forgot his name) was very helpful. They didn't have the exact tire size I needed in stock and I really needed the bike that day. He was able to get the bike going by using a slightly different size tire which worked just fine for my needs. I highly recommend this bike shop. I will also note that he was highly knowledgeable on all the surrounding bike trails. read more

The shop here is great. The people are so friendly and informative. They seem very busy and still find time to answer any questions. Due to COVID things like supplies, parts and new bikes are hard to get ahold of right now, they do the best they can with what is available and are very friendly In the process. Wandered in here one morning after bending a derailleur. Even though he was busy with many other repairs he took the time to repair the derailleur while we had breakfast. He did a great job getting the derailleur perfectly straight again. In fact this is the best the bike has ever shifted. Super nice guy and has a shop dog that hangs out there as well. We rented fat bikes for the day at very reasonable prices. They gave us a ride to the local trails with clear instructions back to the shop. We spent a spectacular day riding. Stumbled on this place after talking to a local at the nearby Country Kitchen for breakfast. I met Jima, the owner, who rented me a fat bike and sent me away on a 12 mile bike trail in the Bartlett Mountains. Jima helps maintain the trails, and is trying to develop new ones for future bike enthusiasts. The trail was hella hard! I've never biked before, but it was totally doable. The map given wasn't really helpful as many place don't even have signs, so I took a few wrong turns only to backtrack - but that was part of the journey and fun! At the time of rental, Jima offered to pick me up if I ever got stranded or too tired. I want give Jima and his shop 5 stars. The trail was great, except for this one meanie at Quail Crossing who put up a sign that it was a private property (even though IT IS NOT!), because she doesn't like bikers coming near her house. That caused some confusion for a good few moments, when I kept referencing the map in confusion. I ultimately trusted my gut, and pressed on. That lady even put a downed Joshua Tree in the way of the bike trail! I had to pick my bike over it. Other than that hiccup - I highly recommend the trail. Just be sure to definitely get fat tire bike - you will get stuck in some sandy places like me. There are some sick inclines and declines. Make sure to bring plenty of water. Highly recommended. Went in because I thought I had two flats on my stroller. He was honest and told me I didn't need new tires, just new tubing and sealant. Gave me a variety of options to fix and I was on my way in 15 minutes! He even purchased the two tires from me that I had brought in so I didn't have to return them. read more

I am a local and I really like this shop. I have purchased many items for the roady and the MTB there and I keep finding the prices are as good or better than I can get online. They have a good supply of necessary items like tubes, tires, lights, etc but if they don't have it they can probably get it. This is a small shop so they order once a week so I just don't get in a hurry. My grandson loves his new Redline BMX bike. I ride quite a bit and like the fact that the owner is an avid rider as well and gets out with a lot of people. The service guy, Mike, is incredible with a wrench and knows his way around bikes. Recently just took my performance Bianchi road bike to JTB for a tune up prior to participating in the Tour de Big Bear a few weeks ago. I couldn't be more pleased with the attentive, friendly, knowledgeable service. Usually, I take my bike to get serviced by a local bike shop that has just been named #1 bike shop in San Diego and I feel JTB's service is in par with them. The bike has never ridden better too. I have also taken my performance full suspension mountain bike which they tuned up and fixed a pesky rear derailer problem too. They also can tell you a lot about road and mountain bike routes in the local area. Highly recommended. read more

Jima was so helpful and patient (he explained how to get to the course 3x to us because we were unsure). The bikes were good, included a hand pump which was nice. I'd recommend bringing band aids alongside lots of water. Got some scrapes riding near the cacti. Would also have rented a truck to put the bikes in instead of riding to the trail in the heat. My son and I spent a few days at Palm Springs to go to the Indian wells tournament.We took a day to check out Joshua trees and decided to rent bikes at Joshua tree bicycle shop . Biking in the park is limited to dirt roads. The folks at the bike shop and others have made a bunch of of single tracks in an area that borders the park. There's Joshua trees ,exposed granite ,massive desert vistas ,everything just like the park except we had the whole place to ourselves and great single tracks. We rented bikes with mega huge tires that I thought would be a joke but turned out to be awesome! You could go through soft sand ,up and down rocky trails ,it was crazy, made you lol. Stopped at the Joshua tree bicycle shop the other day to rent some fat tire bikes. Was very pleased with the service I received. Friendly, knowledgeable, and out going saff that really made the experience much more enjoyable. They had maps of the trails, got me set up on MTB.Com so I can use the GPS live tracking on the trails, and even offered a shuttle service to the trails for a small fee. Would recommend this shop to everyone looking for bike rental or repair. read more

I called this shop a couple of times to ask if they dealt in particular items and was met with sarcasm and rudeness on the phone. I finally went in to get a part because I had no other choice and the place was a wreck three people stood around acting as if I had disrupted their day one literally rolled his eyes at me when I entered. I bought the part I needed and was treated like I was a cheap skate because it was only two dollars. I asked if they took credit cards and was basically laughed at for asking to put two dollars on a card.They were rude and even made comments on my way out to each other about how cheap I was. They obviously don't care about their customer base. I wouldn't trust them with any work if their attitudes reflect their work ethic. They didn't charge sales tax which is required by state law. So in conclusion they are the only bike shop in the area and have the attitude that thay can treat their customers like S&%t and they have no choice but to come back. The only reson they got one star is that I could'nt give them less of a rating!! read more
